6 new sets of sounds added to the Playlist [in the beta branch]

Hi everyone, just a quick post to let you know that there are a bunch of new sets of sounds unlockable under the Playlist in the main menu (currently only available in the beta branch).

These 6 new sets range from atonal chaos to soothing digital hums and reverb-soaked waves.

To access the beta branch, simply right-sclick on the game in Steam, select 'Properties', navigate to the 'BETAS' tab and then you can use the drop-down box to opt-in to the beta.

If all goes according to plan then I'll be pushing this update (along with a complete changelog) to the main branch soon following further testing.

For now though, the new sets of sounds are fully playable & customisable in the beta branch and any progress made will carry back over into the main branch if you unlock any upgrades or new sets in the Playlist.

Hope you enjoy :)

Early Access Launch! What to expect during Early Access

As you can imagine, we are very excited to see people start to play the game and give us feedback. We're expecting Early Access to be relatively short, since the focus is on tuning the game balance, adding a little bit of content, and of course fixing some bugs. Here are some of the other things we'll be working on:

  • New unlockable perks/skills
  • Some new visual styles and skins
  • Polish and tuning on the boss and the overall game flow for reaching the boss. Let us know if it's too easy/too hard, both the fight itself and getting to the fight.
  • Pushing the resolution options into the game so we can get rid of the launcher

If there's demand we may also add a few things like language localization for different communities.

You can best reach us through the discussion forums here and you can Follow the game on Steam and @TwinSynth on Twitter to get the latest details.

Calling All Inverts!

I'm an invert.

There, I said it.

I invert the Y-axis when I use a controller in FPS or 3rd person games.

I know, I'm an animal.

It never occured to me that people might want Twin Synth to have an 'Invert' option but, based on recent requests from players, I've now added an options menu & the first entry in it is a toggle to invert the direction fired when analogue sticks (or WASD/arrow keys) are pressed (eg. press left to shoot right when activated).

I'll be looking to move the other options from the launcher (resolution/monitor/controls) into this new menu over the next couple of months. I'll also be adding a list of stats (high score/fastest time etc.) to be tracked here.

A few other minor changes have also been made, all detailed below:

New Features:
- Added options menu (available from the main menu)
- Added option to 'Invert Sticks' - shooting direction will be reversed while this is active (does not affect Bass Mode)

Changes:
- Menu control will now switch dynamically between controller/keyboard & mouse inputs - the mouse cursor will be hidden when using a controller or keyboard.
- The selection cursor now moves between menu items more quickly when using a controller/keyboard (allowing more intricate hi-hat patterns).

Bugfixes:
- Fixed a bug causing inputs to be misread when switching between Mouse/Keyboard/controller.
- Fixed items being highlighted by the mouse while using a controller.
- Fixed a bug causing nothing to be selected in the menus when clicking on the background using a mouse.
- Fixed a bug causing control to be lost when switching between screens or loading a new one.
- Fixed left mouse click causing Bass Mode to be activated during the pause menu if Bass Meter is fully charged.
- Fixed a bug causing player unlocks to not be displayed in the main menu when first loading the game.
- Fixed the screenshake going crazy occasionally when the player dies.

Version number: 0.02

Thanks for playing, I hope you're enjoying the game :D
Please let me know if there's anything else that you'd like to see in there,

Joe

Welcome to Closed Beta!

Thanks for testing out the game, we hope you enjoy it and provide us some helpful feedback as we gear up for Early Access.

The game has already been quietly updated a few times based on your feedback and to fix a few bugs here and there. So far it's looking pretty stable. We'll keep you posted on updates here and let you know when a firm Early Access release date is known.
