Two Point Campus

Modding Out Now!

Heyo folks!

Hope you’re all having a fab week! You might remember a little while ago we announced modding was in the works. Well, we’ve been busy working alongside the lovely folks over at mod.io to bring cross-platform modding to Two Point Campus!

Now we’re here with a very exciting update for you all, we’re delighted that Steam players on Windows are now able to begin experimenting and subscribing to mods in the latest Steam update! This is our next step in getting modding up and running for you all to enjoy, we can’t wait to see what you create, and what your favourite items are!

For players over on Linux and Mac, we’re working on getting you onboarded. Now, let's catch you up with what’s happened so far, shall we?

Over the last few weeks, awesome students over at UCA have been working with us to create their own item mods! As part of their course, they’ve been learning how to use modding tools to customise textures and models to create their very own in-game items. You’ll be able to check out their creations and have them in-game, but more on that later.

Modding then entered a Steam beta a few weeks ago, for anyone interested in getting a sneak peek at the new modding tools. Now all Steam Windows players can access the Mods menu in-game, and use player-created items, or even make their own.

This beta is the next step in getting modding up and running for everyone to enjoy across consoles and PC in Two Point Campus. For the folks playing over on console, in our next steps we're working on getting the modding features over to you as soon as possible.

How can I download mods?

Note: Before using modded items, we recommend you create a backup of your save files*.

First, get Two Point Campus updating on Steam, and whilst you wait head over to mod.io to create an account. You can browse all the lovely mods on offer over on the mod.io website, or (excitingly) in-game in the new Mods menu!

To use modded items in-game, load up the game and click the new ‘Mods’ tab on the main menu. Here you’ll be able to browse all the current mods. When you hit subscribe on an item you’ll be prompted to log into your mod.io account. Follow the steps, and once you’ve logged in once, you’re good to go ahead and subscribe to ALL the items you like!

Your subscribed items will download whilst you’re in the main menu, and a little pop-up will show once installing is done!

Unsubscribing from mods or deleting the mod’s files will cause any in-game items to revert back to a default Two Point Campus item, so your game save won’t be missing any items, this automatic reverting is to prevent any errors from popping up.

How can I create my own?

You’ll need a few things before you get started, there’s a handy guide for the initial setup, which includes installing Unity (the game engine we use) alongside setting up the modding project.

If you get stuck at any point, we’ll do what we can to help out. Modding is all about the community after all! So join our Discord and jump in, no question is silly or not worth asking, plus you can share what you’re working on with the community!

We have a load of guides to help you out on the journey. To get started modding, you can change our ‘Geometric Canvas’ with an image of your choice, like your favourite cat!

You’ll be able to do texture swaps to change things like the image on a poster, or you can fully replace the mesh (skin) of an item with something of your own. If you have a cool idea for a chair, go right ahead and swap your concept with one of our existing ones! We have guides to get you going with this, you can try customising a plant before moving on to choosing your own item meshes to mod.

Please have a read of our best practices for modding, this is particularly handy if you want to share your mods for other players to use!

Currently, the focus is on modding items, we’re working to potentially add things like wallpaper or floor customisations.

*Backing up your save files:

This is an optional step just to be extra cautious in case something goes wrong. Remember, modded items are user-made, and whilst items go through an approval step before going live, each system is different, so if at any point your game runs into issues, always try unsubscribing from mods.

To back up your save:
  • Open File Explorer and navigate to: C:\Users\[Your username]\
  • You need the ‘AppData’ folder which may be hidden, in File Explorer you can type: \AppData after your username or click ‘View’ and check the “Hidden Items” box for the folder to appear
  • Open the LocalLow folder, then Two Point Studios, and finally Two Point Campus
  • Your save file is in the Cloud folder, open it then copy the Save folder, and paste it into a safe location somewhere else on your PC.
  • If you get stuck at any time, this is where my Saves folder lives: C:\Users\TwoPointAbby\AppData\LocalLow\Two Point Studios\Two Point Campus\Cloud\1443752633\Saves

Spring Creative Competition!

Hey Pointians,

The promise of spring’s arrival is, well, just that, a promise! And right now, amidst all of these downpours, it’s looking as though the spring fairies are sleeping in this year… Now, they do say April showers bring May flowers, but don’t you just wish we didn’t have to wait that long? Us too! How about we cheat a little and inspire the season to skip a few steps? Dig out your gardening forks for planting, if we’re to encourage the season along we’ll need all the spring bulbs you can carry!

Across the next week, it’s time for a good old spring cleaning, to spruce things up! No more excuses for being rough around the hedges. We want to see the greenest, the brightest, the most floral of campuses in the County!

To enter the competition, first, build a seasonal Campus that embodies everything Spring. Then, post a screenshot of your Campus (or Campus section) on social media. You can pick the platform of your choice from Twitter, Facebook, Instagram or Discord. To be entered, all posts must include #SpringTPCampus; we’re not dandy-lying when we say not to forget the competition hashtag!

Dig out your gardening gloves, get the hot cross buns toasting and create a floral paradise to get lost in; in our Spring Creativity Competition! For some inspiration, check out our blossoming ideas below (and we know you can do better!):

We can’t wait to see your best blossoming Campuses, so let your creativity bloom! The competition opens now, 14th April, and runs until Monday 24th April, 10 am UTC when entries will be shortlisted.

Entries will be shortlisted by a panel made up of some of our lovely devs. Each panel member will individually choose their favourite builds, those favourites are then added up to create the studio shortlist. From that shortlist we’ll find our champion, through the power of community vote! That means that part is down to you (yes, YOU!). You’ll all be able to vote on our forums to crown the winner from those shortlisted. We be-leaf in you!

The community-chosen winner will receive a swag pack of a-may-zing Two Point merch, alongside a physical copy of the game!

So remember, to enter the competition: post a screenshot of your entry on the social media platform of your choice (either Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, or Discord), including the competition hashtag #SpringTPCampus! By including the hashtag, the bouquet of blossoming builds will make its way to us!

Not sure where to start? When in doubt, add flowers!

Competition details:

How do I take part?

  • Build a Campus or section of a Campus with the theme “Spring”
  • Then, for your entry take a screenshot of your build.
  • Remember, you can hide the UI (game menus) by opening the Pause Menu and selecting Photo Mode.
  • Your screenshot can be a full Campus or a small section of one. As long as it screams ‘Spring’, we don’t mind.

To enter:

  • Post on social media including your screenshot and competition hashtag #SpringTPCampus. You can either:
  • Tweet on Twitter, create a post on Facebook or Instagram or message the “?-tpc-competition-entries” in the Two Point Discord.
  • You only need to make one post on social media, so feel free to post on the platform of your choice

How is the winner chosen?

  • All screenshots with #SpringTPCampus will be reviewed by a panel of devs from the studio, who independently vote to create a shortlist of five entries.
  • Then on our community forum, a vote will open! You, your friends, and anyone you can persuade can vote for their favourite entry in the shortlist. Once the vote finishes, we’ll have our winner!
  • You'll need to enrol to vote in the shortlist, so if you haven't already, signup for the forum!
  • Once signed up you can even redeem a golden toilet for your efforts.
  • We'll announce the winner on our social channels after the vote closes.
  • If you’re the lucky winner of the competition, we’ll get in touch on social media.
    • Please have your DMs open or reach out to us if you win!

Spring Community Challenge!

Pointians are walking on literal eggshells to navigate the aftermath of another of Silverbottom’s grand ideas. To sort out this rotten mess, they need your help (yes, we really need ALL of you) to pull off the speediest of spring cleanings. Take on the Egg & Silver-Spoon Race where you’ll be on the hunt for eggs from Wiggy Silverbottom’s prized collection.

Missed out on our Spring Update announcement? Check out the full update 6.0 blog here, where we show off the entire basket of springtime treats.

What’s the Challenge about?

Two Point County is in dire need of a spring clean-up. To lend a hand, play the new challenge mode level: Egg & Silver-Spoon Race to collect hidden eggs. In the most ultimate of egg hunts, you’ll be on the lookout for surface-level finds whilst your Egg Hunting students head down the Rabbit Hole to uncover peskier eggs hidden deeper underground.

Now, no one can say for sure exactly how he pulled this off, but apparently, there are ONE MILLION (?!?) eggs stashed countywide. We need everyone to pitch in before things turn rancid, so, we thought, what better way to turn a sour situation around than making a game out of it?

SO! We’re entrusting you, our lovely community, with the massive challenge of cleaning up after old Silverbottom. Hunt down every last egg he’s stashed, to collect the grand total of one million eggs in our new seasonal Challenge Mode level.

To bag the biggest prized egg collection in all the County, you’ll need to buff your fluffy cohort’s academic performance to help along their eggs-cavations. And, outside of the classroom, complete as many objeggtives as possible to reveal clues leading to even more cracking finds…

Community Challenge Details

We’ll keep count of how many pesky eggs you’ve hunted down starting NOW. You have until midnight, 20th April to track down every last one to find ONE MILLION collectively.

No matter the score, every egg helps if we’re to clean up Fitzpocket’s mess. Whether you get a gold medal or no medal at all, your score matters! Plus, you can replay the challenge as many times as you’d like to keep contributing. If the community hits the goal, Pointians across the County will be absolutely overjoyed to escape the eggy curse. They even have a lovely spring-themed item in mind to say thank you to you all.

To see how the community’s collective efforts are coming along, the in-game newsfeed will update with a progress bar across the next few days, plus we’ll be cheering your efforts along over on social media too! Once the goal is met, we’ll make sure to show off your new in-game item over socials so no one misses out.

Summary

Take on the new Challenge Mode Level to collect as many eggs as you can! All scores contribute towards the community total, and you can replay as many times as you’d like. If the goal is met before Tuesday, all players unlock a special new in-game item.

Challenge Mode Level: Egg & Silver-Spoon Race
Community Goal Total: 1 million eggs
Deadline: Midnight, 20th April
Prize: A very special seasonal in-game item!

New Challenge Mode

You'll be heading down the Rabbit Hole in our latest seasonal challenge: Egg & Silver-Spoon Race! Wiggy Silverbottom, with his trademark combo of excess free time and a surplus of bad ideas, has decided Freshleigh Meadows was in dire need of some ‘egg-citing’ activities this spring…

He's only gone and buried the ENTIRE priceless collection of Fitzpocket Eggs! In the most ultimate of egg hunts, be on the lookout for surface-level finds, whilst your Egg Hunting students head down the Rabbit Hole to uncover peskier eggs hidden deep underground.

To bag the biggest prized egg collection in all the County, you’ll need to buff your fluffy cohort’s academic performance to help along their eggs-cavations. And, outside of the classroom, complete as many objeggtives as possible to reveal clues that lead to even more cracking finds…

New Items & Outfit

There’s something in the air! Is it the hum of neighbouring mowers? Or maybe it’s the pollen count? (… help). No matter the annoyances, mother nature has bought a blossoming bounty in our latest seasonal selection!

The whole County is ready to celebrate all things bright and beautiful, so give your students and staff a good hare-day with the new Bunny Ears outfit, and give your campus a Spring clean with new in-game items. There’s something for every bunny! (…although if we catch you about to take a bite of the lovely Chocolate Rabbit we will NEVER forgive you).

New Things

  • New Challenge Mode Level: Egg & Silver-Spoon Race
  • A selection of blooming lovely new items:

    • Three new wallpapers
    • Spring Chickens

    • Spring Meal
    • …a super secret surprise item for completion of the Community Challenge!
  • Hare-raising new outfit Bunny Ears hat for staff and students
  • New Main Menu theming with a temporary green-thumb touch

If you’d prefer your campus without the touch of a green thumb, don’t worry, there’s an option for you! Head to the settings menu and scroll down to find the Seasonal Content toggle to control the seasons (didn't realise you trained in Dark Arts?!).

Nothing blooms forever. Don’t forget, all items and our Spring Challenge Mode will remain in-game even after the event window. So you’ll be able to enjoy the content in your own time, all we’ll do at the end of the event window is give the main menus theming a little trim.

Make sure to give a warm welcome to the Free Spirits, spectral students enrolling to learn all about their paranormal status. All that spookiness and that's not even mentioning your unwanted eerie visitors! Whilst renovating the Lifeless Estate you'll meet malevolent ghosts up to mischief, raising a real stink. Plus, if you're looking for a real challenge, try taking on the absolute haunt in the new Challenge Mode, where the problematic poltergeists are sure to overwhelm you.

Missed our announcement? No worries! Let's take a look below...

NEW LOCATION

Welcome to the Lifeless Estate!

The lawn may be lacklustre, and the surfaces strangely gooey, but all of the problems come back to the ghosts.

Lady Lifeless, had hoped to spend her after-years catching up with her reading and floating tastefully around the garden. Instead, her rest is routinely ruined by rude spirits with even worse table manners.

Tackle the paranormal pest problem, and learn what it means to be dead to help the estate rest peacefully.

NEW COURSES

Paranormal Detection

For a number of years, the County was happy to dabble in the occasional debate surrounding the existence of ghosts. Unfortunately, it seems the evidence is now far too ghastly to ignore, and thanks to some added science, that debate is now long finished: ghosts are a real and genuine nuisance.

Paranormal Detection students will use all the advanced tools at their disposal (mostly their eyes and ears…) to contact and uncover ghosts across Campus. Then they’ll practice all the best ghost-removal skills to bottle up the Estate’s unruly residents.

School Spirits

Being dead isn't as easy as everyone makes it seem. It's hard to rest in peace with a life & death's worth of questions on your mind. "Where am I?", "Why did I say that one thing when I was 24?", "Did I leave the oven on?" etc. Fortunately, you can learn anything in Two Point County, even how to be dead.

Enrolling Free Spirits learn from a great prospectus, covering everything needed to be a modern-day spirit. Whether they’re studying to understand their current regrets and what it means to be dead, or they need a hand being brought up to speed on the old news they missed whilst living on the other side, Free Spirits graduate with ALL the paranormal tricks a good spirit should know.

ALSO!

Expulsion Ceremonies

Lifeless Estate has been harbouring evil spirits for some time, and unfortunately, these unwanted tenants have a truly evil grudge against your best efforts at revitalising the place.

Luckily, you’ve a whole bunch of paranormal investigators in training at your disposal! Before new campus construction can take place, Paranormal Detection students will jump at the opportunity to take part in an Expulsion Ceremony! (just don’t tell them the risks…). Even better still, the evil spirits aren’t immortal, find their weaknesses to give your students a better chance at expulsion (of the ghosts! not them!).

Hauntings

The ghastly inhabitants of the Estate aren’t always the most subtle, some ghosts may reside in a specific room, possessing the place to share their anguish with your students. Depending on the flavour of ghost, your students will suffer from a range of effects, and (spoilers) none are good.

Not only will your students feel a chill in the air, but your visitors from the other side will also mess with the room (rude!). If you catch these signs early you can send over a trusty janitor trained in Ghost Capture to prevent the haunt from progressing! If given long enough, however, the ghosts will set off lights, send items dancing, and produce a weird, strange fog, how eerie.

New Challenge Mode - Gradeyard Shift

In this brand new Challenge Mode level Lady Lifeless has given up hope on her Estate, leaving her home in search of, well, literally anything else.

The place is an utter nightmare of unwanted ghostly guests, and it just so happens the Janitors' Union has been itching for a chance to mop up the paranormal pest problem. With their funding, train up a fleet of janitors to de-haunt and capture as many ghosts as possible.
