Beta Update v1.3 Available!

Hello Admirals,

The release of the new major update v1.3 approaches but before we make it available for everyone, we would like to make a beta testing so that it becomes released at the best condition possible. Below you can read the preliminary changelog of the current playable beta.

MAJOR FEATURES
- Detailed map province borders: Previously the map borders were showing up incomplete and were not including many provinces that the game used. Now all the map provinces not only have their visual borders but also become highlighted when you hover the mouse cursor on them, with a color according to their controller.
- New detailed weather system: Previously the visual weather system was a predefined set and the accuracy modifiers were independently randomized without proper correlation to the actual visuals. Now the weather is fully implemented. The 3D battles can occur in a realistic sea environment that has different daylight, wind, waves visualization and effects according to time of day and weather conditions. Night battles, dusk, late evening battle landscapes, rain, storms, and many other dynamic weather factors enrich the battle immersion and also seriously affect the accuracy with various modifiers.
- New binary save system improving game performance: Previously the saves were using a text mode system which could create very large files, over 150 MB for campaigns, and this caused huge loading delays. We have improved the save system to store files in binary mode, making files extremely much smaller and loading times much faster, thus improving the game experience significantly. We will later offer a binary editor to open save files for players that are accustomed to editing them.

NEW HULLS
- PENDING: Many new hulls and part models.

NEW GUNS
- New USA guns for calibers spanning from 6-inch to 20 inch across all Mark tech levels.
- New China guns for small/medium caliber guns for late tech levels.
- New barbettes.
- A few fixes and improvements on scales for older guns.

BALANCES & FIXES
- Ship handling physics improved following the new weather system additions.
- Minor improvements on shell ballistics.
- Battle fps performance optimizations.
- Fixed issue which could cause guns to get jammed and not rotate.
- Fixed bug that caused empty hulls to be saved as valid designs, when you exited the ship design interface.
- Fixed bug that could cause an empty hull to be loaded upon the hull you were designing (this needs testing if it can happen again).
- PENDING : Campaign balances.
- PENDING : Various bug fixes.

***IMPORTANT***


Before you play the beta, make sure to back up all your previous saves, in case you want to switch back to the current live version. Due to the new content, map additions and the binary save system, all previous saves will become automatically converted when you launch the game to be compatible with the binary system and cannot work with the "live" build.

***It is strongly recommended to delete any old saves for campaign, custom battle, naval academy and shared designs, so that you do not get any bugs, which this update is not responsible of.***

New hulls are coming!

Greetings all,

The new major update v1.3 is under development and its first version will soon become available for beta testing. We will provide a bit later what it will include but first, you can take a look at the new hulls that will be possible to make in the game, using as base the historical models of New York Class Battleship (detailed variants of USS Texas 1914-1946) and Atlanta-class Cruiser.

We improved urgently some of the things you requested in your recent feedback.

  • Fixed old issues of the campaign which created various inconsistencies in after-battle damage calculation of ships, affecting their repair or sink status.
  • Further Battle AI adjustments to fight at more effective ranges.
  • Further Auto-Design improvement for the AI (In old campaigns the effect of this improvement will apply only in new designs or refits of the AI).
  • ASW is stronger against submarines in the auto-resolved battles.

- Fixed issue that caused several ships to begin in "repairing" status in a new campaign.
- Fixed a problem which could cause 'ghost" ships, ships that should have been scrapped, but eventually appeared for a dissolved or other nation.
- Fixed a few minor English localization errors.

  • Fixed remaining alliance issue, cancelling a naval invasion when another nation of the alliance signed a peace treaty with the enemy.
  • Fixed case where ships could get additional damage after ending a battle.

Your helpful feedback continues and based to it we decided to offer another intermediate patch before the major update. Here is what it includes:

*Small Update v1.2.7 Rx2*

  • Important upgrade of the Battle AI and Auto-Targeting system. The AI ships should keep a much more effective firing distance while the auto-targeting should switch promptly making less necessary the manual targeting.
  • Ongoing Naval invasions will now delay any peace treaty action, either via diplomacy or government events. In this way, a naval invasion will never become interrupted, something that many times players have reported, rightfully, as very frustrating.
  • Fixed issue which could create severe devastation of the economy in provinces under a major offensive, making income near to zero and thus make nations very hard to overcome economically. Furthermore, the victory point system which was related from the financial power of the province will work as it should (previously VP gain could be negligible after conquering a province).
  • Fixed an issue that prevented alliances from being canceled properly. Additionally, when an alliance becomes canceled, the relations between the nations will become neutral = 0 (previously the relations change could be too small sometimes, making it possible to have a new alliance after a few turns.
  • Fixed an issue which could make victory chance for naval invasion, military conflicts and conquering via naval missions to not be affected consistently by the applied tonnage.
  • Fixed issue which made a revolution to not change Constitutional Monarchy to Democracy.
  • Fixed issue which prevented government party percentages to become modified consistently according to unrest.

It is advised to start a new campaign to notice in full the new improvements.

Hotfix Update v1.2.6

Hello Admirals,

This is another small update addressing things you reported the last days,

*Hotfix Update v1.2.6*
- Fixed problem that could not allow an alliance to become canceled. Now all alliances can become canceled with a successful diplomatic action, when a war is over.
- Fixed a bug that did not allow trade for used ships. Now you should receive orders for your mothballed ships.
- Fixed a UI bug that was caused in the "Shared Designs" interface when browsing design years while a gun category was selected.
- Fixed a critical bug that could make the research UI to not function properly and not allow to see research history per category.
- Reduced significantly the power of submarines against many warships.
- Possible fix for a very rare case that could make a gun not able to rotate at target (still, if a player turns his fast ships too much and plays in super fast forward, it may happen, but very sporadically).
- Fixed errors that could make initial ship formations too close to each other and so very hard to switch to another state without collisions.
- Improved auto-targeting to switch more effectively.
- Some minor text errors due to "wip" localization fixed.
- Further increase in ship maintenance cost, in order to progressively increase the campaign's financial challenge.

No more small updates are planned, unless absolutely necessary, in order to prepare for the next Major Beta Update which will include new weather features, new 3D models and many more.

Small Update v1.2.5 Rx3

Hello Admirals,

We offer another update which improves the game on various aspects. Please read:

*Small Update v1.2.5 Rx3*

  • Further fixes and improvements on the alliance system, so that urgent alliances are formed more consistently. The improvements can be noticed only in a new campaign, as older saves may have diplomatic issues which are unsolvable. There is a known problem that can cause a nation to not be added in the alliance window in the top left corner but we will repair it soon.
  • Balanced the campaign's economy by increasing the transport capacity cost.
  • Fixed various Naval invasion bugs that were reported. Some map ports such as the area near Seattle, that cannot be reached will be addressed soon.
  • Fixed some borders of the map that had errors, such as in Hawaii and other areas. In the next major update the map will have a full update that will define all provinces' borders.
  • Simulated gun barrel erosion, so that there is a diminishing effect on accuracy for gun barrels that produce very high muzzle velocity for the shells. This improvement realistically balances the gun accuracy and fixes the human player exploit to create ships with overpowered long barrel guns with extreme accuracy.
  • Fine tuning in gun aiming mechanics so that accuracy is balanced more realistically in all ranges, fixing issues where accuracy could become too low.
  • Improved the auto-targeting mechanics.
  • Battle AI further improvement.
  • Fixed a rare bug that caused ships to freeze during battle.
  • Improved slightly the ship evasion mechanics.
  • Submarine combat power balance, making them a little harder to become detected but also less likely to cause overwhelming damage to warships.
  • Various other minor fixes and improvements.

Note: The game gets continuous work for preparing the language localization. If you notice a problem in texts somewhere in the game, please notify us to fix promptly.

Uploaded repaired version including the following:
- Fix of potential crash after a campaign battle.
- Fixed some temporary text/localization errors.
- Fixed some remaining issues with Alliances. The Alliance window in the top left corner can still have not accurate information. We will remove it and the space will be replaced by info tabs that will replace the many pop-up windows that appear each turn.
- Campaign AI will scrap obsolete ships more efficiently.

Uploaded repaired version including the following:
- Fixed fully a crash error, caused when a peace treaty was requested right after a campaign battle. We are sorry for the temporary inconvenience but temporarily the peace treaty text will show not correct, because of this fix. We decided to offer the repair that will allow you to play without any game breaking issue, and we will fix the related text tomorrow.
- Fixed Cyrillic text appearing in politics info.
- Fixed speed info in ship tooltip.

- Fixed text code issues in peace treaty window.
- Removed Alliance window in the top right window, as it could have inconsistent information. In the next major patch, we will add event tabs to replace the window pop ups of each turn.
- Battle AI optimizations.
- Submarine average damage to fleets became reduced.
