Moving to 64-bit, Improved Performance and Rapid Fire Mode
64-bit, Improved Performance and legacy OS support
When Uncrewed first started development, 32-bit hardware was still ubiquitous and 32-bit OS versions had a significant market share. Today, as far as gaming is concerned, virtually all platforms out there are 64-bit. Up to this point Uncrewed was an exclusively 32-bit application, which caused degraded performance and even stability issues in some cases.
As of this update Uncrewed has been ported to 64-bit and will no longer support 32-bit versions of Windows. The move to a 64-bit build brings improved performance (up to 20% in some cases) and eliminates all possible stability issues when playing on maximum settings with large number of units, as well as greatly improves expandability and modding potential.
Because of this change Uncrewed will no longer run on any Windows XP version, and as of this update only the 64-bit versions of Windows 7, 8/8.1, 10 and 11 are officially supported. Running the game via Proton will also require a 64-bit Linux.
Rapid Fire Mode
This update also introduces the concept of rules to custom games. You can now play all available maps (including your own and those from the workshop) with non-standard sets of rules provided the maps don't use custom scripts.
Rapid Fire rules increase all weapon ammo capacity by 10x. It is now the default rule-set for custom games. This change reduces unit micro-management which in turn makes the games feel much faster and action oriented. Try it out for yourself!
Classic rules are how the game used to play before this update. Some players may still find this mode to be a better experience, but it is overall harder and slower.
Other
Balance changes:
Resource amount per pile has been quadrupled (going up from 1000 pellets per pile to 4000 pellets per pile);
Rotary Gun damage increased from 1 to 1.5 (DPS increase from 4.0 to 6.0);
Revolver Cannon damage increased from 2.0 to 2.5, firing rate increased from 1.5 to 2.0 (DPS increase from 3.0 to 5.0);
IR Launcher firing rate increased from 0.7 to 0.8 (DPS increase from 14.0 to 16.0);
Fixed an issue where the mouse cursor wouldn't stay inside the game window after Alt-Tabbing once on multi-monitor setups.
Fixed UI issues that made some buttons unreachable on the lowest supported resolution (1366x768).

Out Of Early Access, More Updates To Come
Out of Early Access!
Over three years of development after the initial release, the Early Access tag no longer accurately represents the game state. So today Uncrewed has its official full release!
The game features a complete stand-alone campaign, decently large selection of modules of all types to build units with. There is also the ability to create your own modules and maps, Steam Workshop support and more! The game still has room for growth, however its current state does not warrant an Early Access tag.
Upcoming Campaign Expansion
The work on the campaign expansion continues, and it is planned for release later this year. The game already features a stand-alone campaign, but because of a considerable popular demand it was decided to develop an expansion for the game. Like other all updates before the campaign expansion will be added to the base game with no extra purchases required.
Other Content Updates
Although the Early Access phase of the development has ended, the game will still receive content updates. In short term there are plans to add more features to the map making tools. The addition of new modules is also very likely. So stay tuned, and your feedback is always welcome!
Patches
Like before, the game will receive patches for balance changes, bug fixes and other minor improvements.
Patch Notes:
Changed aiming behaviour for smaller weapons. Weapons now lock on to targets faster and are able to fire at fast moving flying units;
Scripting improvements and bug fixes;
Minor interface improvements and fixes.
Update: Portable Reactor
What's new?
This update introduces the Portable Reactor module, and a few other changes and improvements to the game.
Portable Reactor
The Portable Reactor module generates energy and recharges the batteries. Although they are heavy and expensive, any number of portable reactors can be installed on a unit. The Portable Reactor also requires an Energy Lab.
Launch Command
As of this update, units equipped with Grenade Launchers or Artillery Guns can fire at any point on the map by using the Launch command. Firing at a fixed spot can be a way to deny that area to your opponent, and a way to hit fast moving units with slow projectiles if unit movement can be predicted.
Other
Keyboard scrolling is now re-mappable (Arrow Keys by default);
Battery storage capacity is now displayed in the module gallery;
Unit sound responses are now not activated on every action;
Minor bug fixes and improvements.
Update: New Game Plus
What's new?
This update introduces the new game plus mode for the main campaign.
New Game Plus
As of this update, after completing the campaign on any difficulty a new mode for the campaign is unlocked. The New Game Plus can be accessed when starting a new campaign by chosing "New Game Plus" as the difficulty level.
Some of the key differences between New Game Plus and other difficulty levels are:
AI opponents play to the best of their abilities and choose the best units available to them;
There are no restrictions on technologies from the very start of the campaign;
The maximum number of unit slots is available on every map;
Research Data locations are randomized.
New Game Plus difficulty is the hardest difficulty currently available for the campaign. There's now an additional achievement for completing the campaign on this difficulty.
Other
Other changes included with this update:
Balance changes: enemy units can no longer be lifted up with skymagnets unless under influence of an EMP.
Minor bug fixes and improvements.
Upcoming Updates
Long-term Content Plans
Currently the game features a complete stand-alone campaign, and a decently large selection of modules of all types. There is also the ability to create your own modules and maps. In many ways the game has outgrown its initial scope. Of course there is always room for improvement.
Over the course of development, the community has expressed interest in more single-player content. Taking this and other factors into consideration, the next major content update will feature a campaign expansion. Additionally, any new modules that may be added, will also likely to arrive with that update.
As of right now, there is no set release date for the update, but it will be provided further down the development cycle!
Other Updates
There are other areas of the game that will be getting updates in the meantime. That includes balance updates, updates to the multiplayer component of the game, and the map editor.
As always, your feedback is appreciated, and stay tuned for more news about the game!
Update: Team Maps, Spectators
What's new?
This update introduces a spectator mode, adds a new team skirmish/multi-player map. The update also features several other fixes and improvements.
Team Maps
As of this update it is possible to specify team spawn locations not only for custom-rule maps, but for custom skirmish maps as well. To achieve this, the map slot setup may look like this:
Spectator Mode
The spectator mode lets players watch live multi-player matches. To spectate a match, just click the Menu button on the bottom bar (shown in the image below), and then click the Spectate button. If you've changed your mind, and wish to participate in the game, please click the Participate button from the same menu.
Other
Names of removed repositories can now be reused;
AI bots no longer steal friendly build pads;
Map Editor: Playtest button added;
Map Editor: fit curve and straighten curve fixed;
Hover altitude adjustment fixed for flying units;
Map Editor: Custom Games & Scripting Guide Is Now Available
If you are making custom maps, and wish to find out more about the map setup and scripting process, head over to the Guides section and check out the Custom Games & Scripting Guide:
This guide serves as an introduction to custom game making and scripting, and will be expanded in the future. As always, your feedback is welcome!
Update: Map Editor is out!
What's new?
This update brings the ability to create, edit and share custom maps. This is the first update in the series of updates aimed to give the community flexible tools for map and game mode creation.
Map Composer
The toolset which provides map making facilities is called the Map Composer. To access it, click the Map Composer button in the main menu.
To create a new map click the New Map... button - this action will immediately launch the map editor. You are also be able to manage and share your maps from this menu.
The map editor itself gives you the ability to customize every aspect of the map. As mentioned before, more tools will be added to the map editor to enable further customization, as well as ease the process of map making.
Documentation
Currently there's not much in the way of documentation available for the editor, nor the scripting language. This will be rectified in the upcoming days - help, tutorials, and references are coming, so stay tuned!
Other
The update also brings slight improvements and changes to the interface, as well as various bug fixes. Among more notable changes - the removal of the Skirmish button; it has been replaced with the Custom Game button. No functionality has been lost - this is just a menu change to better fit the new features.
Your feedback regarding the map editing tools or any other topic is, as always, appreciated.
Map Editor release date moved back to June 25th
The release date for the upcoming update has been moved from June 23rd to June 25th. There are still a few issues that need to be worked out, and some features need to be verified that they are working correctly before the update is ready.
