Hey Hello, here's Maty! I hope everyone is going good :).

Since the last announcement in "April 28", A lot of things has happened and we are happy to tell you some of the things to come for "Understanding, the game."

Since April the numbers have been increasing very positively!! we reached :

- 675.000+ Visits on Steam!!

- 40.200+ library additions!

- 8500+ Wishlist additions!

WE'RE VERY FAR AWAY FROM THE FIRST PAGES,BUT HONESTLY THIS IS AWESOME!

- "Understanding, The Game" will participate in the EVA business rounds in September.




What is EVA? : EVA is an Argentinean videogames festival, where publishers from around all the world comes to talk with devs and take a look to their projects.

Founded in 2004, the Association of Video Game Developers of Argentina (ADVA) is a non-profit organization made up of video game studios and developers that work to promote the growth of digital and interactive entertainment produced in Argentina.
[Argentina Video Game Expo]. Since 2003, Association of Video Game Developers of Argentina (ADVA) organizes the EVA in an uninterrupted manner.. EVA is a space for meeting, discussions, training, and business development. It is the most important event in the local video game development industry and grows year after year in public, guests, and sponsors. Every year, more than 2,000 professionals and students attend the Expo. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 event was held 100% remotely.

this is a good chance to talk with publishers! I will try to do my best in the EVA business rounds :).

What's the progress since the last announcement in April 28?

- the things are not going fast how i would like but I'm working hard to introduce and make the best things for the game as possible.... As I have already mentioned in the announcement of April 28, due to the high amount of players that have played the game I have decided to take a more professional path to continue continuing the development of the game.

- I 'am very dedicated to reforming all the content that has already been done.

- Polishing all the flaws

- Decided to Remove all the "unprofessional" content for the full game.

- Reworked All the game History and lore.

- From now I only want to introduce suitable content and that respects a considerable quality





- I've focused on join to festivals to trying to talk with publishers or look ways to get money for introduce in the game, I got some donations that helped a lot in the first months of the game! really thanks to everyone for this..

- with all your donations and some extra money that I put from myself I was able to hire an excellent Russian artist in order to make all the concept art! can´t wait to show some of all this work! It is really amazing and respects all that feels of the old school horror games.

I have looked at absolutely every stream of my game, and I have read the hundreds of suggestions that everyone has come up with and I have really learned a lot. all the feedback will help to make the game amazing!

Status of the project?





- Working hard on get ready all the concept art for the monsters/bosses and characters a big part is already done.

- Trying to obtain resources to be able to hire a 3d artist to pass all the concept art to the game.

- Looking for a programmer to make all the new game mechanics and re work all the UI.

- Trying to Obtain resources to be able to pay the music/sfx composer to make the all the game essential sounds.


Release Date?

- Like I said in the announcement of April 27... I cant promise an exact release date.
since I made the decision to become a serious developer and the project stopped being something small, I only want to put content that is specific to the game, and unfortunately I am an independent developer and all the development costs are my responsibility... at the moment I don't have a good work and all the money that I can separate I use it into the project. the ideal would be to have the game ready in 2022


am I still just me working on the project?

- Thanks to the donations and a little money that I was able to raise, I was able to request certain specific jobs for the game, I have been able to meet excellent and very professional people with whom I hope to be able to work in case of having more income. But yes... I'm still a solo dev.

Bosses? Enemy's?

- There will be bosses and enemy's. sometimes you will be able to fight, other times you will have to escape, there not will be tons of weapons but you will be able to hold a weapon in some cases...

How much long will be the game?

- Like I said in the last announcement the idea is have around 4-5 zones with 1 to 2 hour of gameplay each zone.

what are your thoughts about the demo/project?

- from now I'm trying to be absolutely more professional!

Where I can see some of the features that will be in the full game?

- you can see a small list of the things that will be introduced for full game in the "about this game" section on the Steam Store.... Weapons, Bosses, Multiple endings and more!

Good morning to everybody !!!

It's been a long time since I haven't released or posted any updates, so it's time to tell you all the amazing good news about development and the things that have happened in "Understanding, The Game." so sorry if the post become so long but It's important to provide all the information as I can to the people who trusted on the game so lets go for parts! :)

First of all I want to thank absolutely everyone who supported the development of the game and did everything that is happening possible... from visitors to the page, streamers, players, to absolutely everyone! THANKS THANKS AND MANY THANKS!!!!!!

The numbers that "Understanding, The Game" has obtained in only 4 months without any funding or publishing campaign are incredible!!:

lets talk about this... These numbers forced me to take a completely more serious and professional path.
now I'm working on trying to get funding or publisher to make this game in the most professional way possible for all of you, we have a lot of people who trusted on this project and I don't want to fail... the community day by day shows me a lot of affection and asks about the status of the project, they have given many suggestions that helped me to grow a lot and to have a better overview on how to continue developing the full game. I assure you, the game will have a quality leap in every way!

since I'm a solo dev working on the game I was some absent from posting any update but we have very very good news :)
I never stop the work on the game, I worked each day on the game to give a considerable progress to the project, I'm a solo programmer working on it, so that means mostly of the 3d stuff are bought to 3d artist´s and some little stuff from stores and that money becomes from me, the characters from the concept demonstration was modeled by me... the only way to do this is by being professionally advised and get the correct people to make the work propertly.
I'm running all this without any monetary help or advertising campaign so my main goal now is get funding to be able to work full time on the game and be able to hire professional's artist's and programmers.

the idea of bringing 1 or 2 more patches to the concept demonstration are still there, but I'm focusing 100% on the full game to get a good base to show to the potentially interested people or have a better possible chance to get funding and show the potential of this game.

Now lets talk about the progress :)

Q&A.

¿what's the progress since December 23?

- The first 2 months after launching the concept demonstration were very difficult, given the public numbers, all of you will imagine how it is to contact each person who made a streaming of my game to thank them... listen to the thousands of suggestions that the players have approached, manage social networks, put an update among other things, work on the game, update the demo, etc etc etc.... Carrying out all of this was extremely difficult for a single independent developer (impossible? maybe... but I survived haha).

- After 2-3 months from the launch, things began to become calmer and I was able to return to work on the game. focusing in probably the 3r stage of the game a police department where we will learn about the life of Myrko, and some of what's happening in Chanseville. in only 1 month I was able to built maybe the 60% of the map.

- The Story has been 100% handwritten in paper and redesigned to have all the concept ready to send it to a writer and to the concept artist's.

- Sketch for the city is ready to send it to a concept artis't and next step is then send it to a 3d artist to start all the assets

- focusing mainly on get all the game base ready to give to all publishers or funding company's the best information possible about the project to have a small chance to get some help.

¿ There will be enemy's in "Understanding, The Game" ?

- I'm working hard to get nice concept's for all the bosses that you will have to fight in "Understanding, The Game" but this not mean you will use a weapon... many times you need to use you brain unless a weapon to get out of the danger. there not will be a lot of enemy's but the idea is 1 boss peer map, and maybe some monster following you in some maps/parts ( like all survival horrors ). puzzles will be needed to resolve sometimes to exit from the danger.

¿ will the inventory , mechanics and other things will be improved for full game ?

Absolutely! all the user interface, mechanics , inventory and many things going to be started from scratch to ensure an advanced experience and more professional playability.


¿ how many long will be the final game ?

that will depends if we can get funding or publisher under the development.

- Objective is be able to build 4-5 maps ( approx. 1 hour of gameplay each ) but if I can't get help and the final game become only by my hand maybe there will be only 2 or 3 maps more only due to the extremely difficult to carry out all the process of the game being only 1 dev (programmer). I'm trying to be the more professional possible, but I'm honest... I'm not an 3d artist, or rigger, or animator, or writter... I'm trying to do my best. but like everyone knows... with the property funding we can make this game giant with a considerable duration and quality like all the big games!

¿ if I can't get funds, the project will be canceled ?

NO WAY!! there's no reason to cancel the project. the only difference is if I can get fund, game will evolve and can transform into a professional product for everyone. I will be able to hire artist and programmer that mean work for people.

if don't get funding, then life not ends... ill promise to all of you I will work hard with all my effort, heart and passion to bring the best experience possible. all my efforts are here each day.

¿ Estimated release date ?

I can't promise any exact release date, store and demo says 2021 but the reality is other... we are working hard to release the game as soon we can with a chance of a new demo in December 2021 - January 2022. there's not other choice than make this in the best way possible and that means a necessary time to bring a quality product to all of you. (consider I'm currently working alone on the project... doing all my efforts to get funding to hire people! if people joins then the work will be more fast! )


¿ Any plan to promote the game ?

I was encouraged to participate in the business meetings on the BIG festival Brazil 2021, the largest independent games festival in LA there I will try to talk with publishers to see if anyone wanna grow this project. so send you best wishes guys please :)!!!

* Now you can see the duration bar of the flashlight at your inventory ( just up of Health icon )

* Flashlight now has a duration of 10 minutes.

* Now, the font of the texts has been changed and their color is white.

* The speed of the subtitles was changed now it is almost automatic

* Fixed the problem where the electrical panel that leads to the last room of the demo generated a subtitle loop

* minor code problems

* added a hint in the room where you have to get the skeleton key

* In the 3 torch room, a note was added just below the Battery, that contains a hint.

* be able to skip the intro's

* maybe add the save game system? ( since this is a demo and there's not enemy's, I don't think this is necessary for now, the game save system is working for full game already)

please consider I'm working on this game alone, all suggestions and reviews help me to grow! I'm trying to do my best and make this game in the best way possible!!.

since i see lot of email's asking me for VR support on this game, i'm thinking on adding the game for VR.

Actually I'm working full time on the complete game. that means this demo will not get major updates but probably i will make 1 or 2 updates more.

all the love I have received since the game was released on December 23 is incredible! also the critics helped me to have a better scenario for the complete game and to do things in the best possible way !!
