Unending Galaxy

June Progress Update

Post Mortem : 2nd Edition

Two years ago, we had our first Unending Galaxy post mortem. It covered, for the most part, the financial and advertising aspect of things, with little regard to the game itself. This new post is going to cover the game proper, what worked and what didn't.

After The Collapse: Store Page and community open!

After the Collapse's store page is open to the public. If you're interested in our newest project, be sure to wishlist and follow the game!

If you've been hiding this whole time and don't know what this new game is all about, ATC is a base building game set in an urban, post-apocalyptic world. It's heavily inspired by classics like STALKER and RimWorld.

It will be made available in Early Access at the beginning of October 2018.

Thank you :)

After The Collapse [devlog#11] Soon in Early Access

Hi there!

Our last major devlog before the Early Access release is available on our official website. Have a look, a game trailer is included :)

Cheers!

Version 1.3.6 Released (Summer Update)!

With the summer sale coming soon, here's an update for Unending Galaxy. Nothing fancy, but it integrates the Nilith Rebalance mod and fix any user interface problem tied to unarmed ships. It's also fixing a few rough edges and minor issues.

Mods from older versions should be compatible. Save-games should work too, but Nilith ships stats might be inconsistent and only newly spawned ships will get the new statistics.

If you're using the Nilith Rebalance mod, you can disable it now

Changelog

Improvements

  • Nilith Faction Overall: ships are much faster. cargo ship is unarmed but carry (and produce) drones. All Nilith ships regenerate hull.
  • Double clicking a fleet in the top-left list (or double tapping the assigned number key) will center the galactic map on the correct location
  • Increased detection range for cargo delivery mission success check, forced check when "talking" to the station to avoid misunderstandings
  • Updated AI Core and Organic tech trees' description
  • More informative "New Game" menu tool-tips (fow, warpgate, visibility... settings)
  • Pilot info in the "Ship Settings" menu shows which AI module the ship is running (if any)

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed: Crackling engine sound when camera is "following" a docked ship
  • Fixed: Multiple menu related issues on ships with no shield or no weapon slots.
  • Fixed: A few typos

Version 1.3.5 Released!

This is, most likely, the final update for Unending Galaxy. It contains a potential fix for the "sound degradation over time" bug some of you are experiencing alongside minor improvements. As usual, mods and saves from previous versions are compatible.

Changelog

Improvements

  • No longer need to left click then right click weapons and shield in the trade menu to display the proper info/stats popup
  • More detailed info panel for each ship module
  • Minor changes to the TC/Core plot-line (good/bad endings more likely)

Technical

  • New method used to play sound and music
  • Slightly better performances in situations with a lot of sound being played at once (large battles)

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed: Regression bug in 1.3.2 causing weapon/shield info popup to trigger an error message
  • Fixed: Missing text in the TC/Core plot-line (reward location)
  • Possible fix for the sound quality degradation over time

Version 1.3.2 released

Here is the promised 1.3.2 update which should greatly improve speed and stability over long periods of gameplay and on large maps. It also fixes a bunch of smaller issues. This release is compatible with save-games and mods from the previous version.

Changelog

Improvements

  • Dock traders will avoid suppliers in sectors that are under siege

Technical

  • More stable experience during long gaming sessions
  • Better performance on long/large games
  • Fixed many technical problems
  • Minor code optimizations

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed: Ceridan special event could target pirate systems when better, empty, systems are available
  • Fixed: Some trading and mining ships would ignore the "NoForeign" faction law
  • Added possible fix for the rare bug causing the game window to "eat" part of the screen (settings / graphics / resolution fix)

Experimental Branch 1.3.2.0

With After The Collapse being actively developed, it's not possible for us to spend lot of time on Unending Galaxy. But, due to popular demand and because it's still our first passion project, I decided to allocate some more time to fix the few remaining issues and clean up the code a bit.

If you want to try this new experimental build, please check this topic, it contains everything you need to know.

Read it carefully.
