This latest update adds 11 new screens to Rogue Mode adding way more variety to the gameplay. Rogue Mode (which can be purchased in the "Extra Shop") has now been refined as well. Many small quality-of-life improvements have been implemented. Most notably the addition of an upgrade system. After each completed screen you will be prompted with a choice of 3 random upgrades. These upgrades can include new guns, bombs, health, or some new exclusive upgrades like the Metal Boots that allow you to survive spike traps or an upgrade that grants you a 5% chance of enemies dropping a heart. All these thanks to Ternox (go check out his games he's an excellent publisher and developer).

The upgrade will hit consoles shortly in the upcoming days (weeks?)

More Fixes



Several bug fixes in this update make the game more playable (and streamable). Now the "voice" option also controls the cutscenes volumes. In addition, the master volume now also affects the cut-scenes (where it previously didn't). Hopefully, this will allow you to have better control over your audio.

The Future



In the future, I plan to add more improvements to the extra game modes to try and flesh them out a little better. Also, expect some achievements in the steam version that are different from the console versions. Some additional tutorialization is also planned for each weapon and mechanic. Some visual upgrades. And of course some additional story and levels. Please stay tuned.

Major Bug Fixes

This build fixes common bugs in the blue chapter.

Grappling Hook *Fixed*

The hook would sometimes fail to hook at all. This would happen when all your bombs were depleted to zero or your last item selected was completely depleted. The game was treating the hook with the same logic as the bombs. So if you had no bombs you couldn't swing. An early fix was to turn on infinite ammo in the options.

Infinite Death Loop *Fixed*
Also in the blue levels. This glitch looped the skeleton death animation over and over and over and over again until you just had to close out the game and start over. This has been fixed. The game now will notice if an animation is playing over and restart you from your last checkpoint.

Other fixes
A few other changes have been made throughout the levels to make things run smoother.

The Unicorn's era is upon us!

Run, Jump, and be Unicorn girl

I still remember the original prototype jam game and watching people play it on youtube. I was so incredibly nervous watching people play my small 15-minute game. Some YouTubers were excited to be a unicorn some were sarcastic and others were already trying to speed run but it was clear that everyone was having a blast. I remember a little kid screaming at the top of his lungs and another YouTuber (a grown man) saying "This is cute. It's fun. You just run jump shoot and be unicorn girl"

4 years later it's a full game with voice actors and a console release and I couldn't be prouder.

I would like to take this moment to thank everyone involved in the making of this. Olivia, Christina, Carlos, Jaggy Fox, Ternox, and Karina. Thank you. This game wouldn't exist without you.

More Content Coming



For anyone that buys the game I want you to know that there is free DLC planned for the near future in the form of more story and levels. The story will include more voice over work, new scenes, characters and boss fights. The first update will be a crossover with another game character.

But for now please enjoy my little game.

Unichrome is coming to Nintendo Switch

For those that don't know what certification is it's the process done by platform holders in order to ensure quality and consistency in a game before green-lighting it for sale on their console. This process can be tedious and time-consuming not to mention the fact that requirements can differ between platforms and regions. Regardless, my amazing publisher and partner has completed the tough gauntlet and we are now officially coming to Switch.

New Update (pre release for streamers and reviewers)

New Build includes easier to use grappling horn!

Whenever you are in range of a hook that can be swung on a large indicator appears. This should relieve ambiguity with the grappling horn. There is also a better explanation of how to use the horn. I've noticed some people try to hold the button down to swing but holding the button down changes weapons. Tapping the button will automatically attach you to the nearest hook, tapping the button again will release you from the swing. Pressing forward and backward will move you in either direction. Holding down a direction will increase momentum. Up and Down will increase or decrease the size of the rope. You can use this to climb or decend.

In addition to some minor UI / UX things, the resolution has also been fixed. No more odd flickering in chapter 2.

Hi! I'm super8bitRafa a solo dev on my journey to releasing my first game (Unichrome).

Unichrome is a 4 year-long journey for me to understand the ins-and-outs of the indie game scene. The game is coming to both console and PC. Checkout my very high-budget announce trailer:


The actual update:



The first update comes with some obligatory bug fixes. The end of each level has a specific graphic now too. Loading back your save file works better now. The Extras are slightly better and play a bit smoother. New button prompts as well. Smoother and more readable text. And much much more!
