Unleash Hell

New Update: I have begun slowly working on this title again.

Hellions!
It's been a minute, but rest assured UNLEASH HELL is not going away. It's just a mammoth undertaking for a solo dev, so I will be getting help. More on that at a later date.

So here is what is currently happening.

After Realms Deep 2021 UNLEASH HELL was in a bit of a torn apart state as I had to add a ton of content and create all kinds of code to support the systems needed to produce the Trailer for Realms Deep and I had to do it fast. The end result worked but was pretty messy.

It took a month or so to get it all straightened back out and of course in the end the game was better for it as a lot of the stuff I had to create was on the list for the future anyways. But... there were still a few loose ends that I never tied up before I stopped working on it so I was never able to upload the new build.

The game sat dormant until last week. I spent a few hours over this last week to finish up all the loose ends from what I didn't finish up and made a new build and uploaded it.

Currently it's back to fully playable state and it runs great. I'll be getting it back in the hands of some pro's to get that juicy feedback so I can start slowly moving in the right direction again.

I don't have any timelines on anything right now but things are moving again, albeit slowly.

More Later,

The No Bull**** Cut Trailer

Howdy all!

As promised I have uploaded a trailer. I had originally planned to release the entire trailer but once I got into the project I felt like just getting right to the meat and potatoes of it so... I created the No Bull**** cut, which is as advertised.

This is alpha gameplay footage so there will be many improvements to come when I get back to the project. Overall though, I think it gives you all a good idea of how fast paced the combat is and how well it runs.

More to come after the new year!

REALMS DEEP 2022 & Other News

Howdy Folks!

It's been a bit so I thought I would drop another line and update as to what's going on in UNLEASH HELL World and some NoLight Games news as well.

It's that time of year again, Realms Deep is happening on Sept 16th 2022 @ 12pm PST and the new game will be revealed in the main showcase on Friday.
Link:
Realms Deep 2022

There will be nothing presented related to UNLEASH HELL but you all should check out the show either way, lot's of great games being shown by some really talented developers.

Now, what is going on with UNLEASH HELL!?
The development plan to return to working on the game still holds true at the first quarter of the new year. There are other things I am working on in the background that I can't talk about yet, but it's all good stuff so the future of the game looks promising.

I also decided to do a cut of the trailer I made for last years Realms Deep and post it here so the game will finally have an initial trailer. I did put in a bit of work on the trailer and it's kind of a waste not being used despite the animation being stage 1.

I'll post it sometime this week provided everything goes as planned.

- Thank you to all the folks who have kept this game Wishlisted, your continued support means the world to me.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

Howdy Hellions!

I know it's been a little while since I checked in, life has been busy. As a solo developer it means everything takes a much greater amount of time. Now, update time.

Q: So, what is happening with UNLEASH HELL?
A: UNLEASH HELL is currently on hold, temporarily. Why? I imagine is the next question. The reason is UNLEASH HELL in scope is pretty large. My ambitions for this were a little "over ambitious" and thus I ended up in a bit of an Uncanny Valley. Once the game was featured in E1M1 things really took off and I wasn't really ready for it, but as a solo developer I couldn't let the opportunity pass me by so I jumped on it and hoped like hell I could pull it off and I almost did.

Q: What do you mean by Uncanny Valley?
A: My focus on the game to that point had been mainly on the game play, not the actual final art so the art and animation at the time was super early and still very stiff, thus I feel it didn't come out good enough but I was under a deadline to deliver a trailer for Realms Deep. I also made a few terrible choices in how I made the original trailer, the trailer was not for that audience so it translated poorly in my opinion.

I say Uncanny Valley because I was thinking initially about going for a more realistic looking art style but the further I got into it the more it started looking like doom, too much so. This put me in a spot where expectations of the look were affecting the reception of the art that was being used which really means I have to now try and mimic the talent of id... not gonna happen.

Q: So what does all this mean for the game?
A: It means I have stepped away from it to get fresh eyes and identify what needs to be changed to get the game to where I want it, but also re-structure some of the initial scope to be accomplished in a realistic time frame by a solo dev. Good news is, over this time away I have figured out quite a bit and when I get back at it towards the end of the year, I will hit the ground running full steam ahead with freshly recharged batteries and the direction needed to get me to the finish line.

This is all a good thing for the game because, even though it seems like forever, the end result is going to be a better game.

Now, as a side note... the time away has still been productive for NoLight Games. All devs have tons of side projects and I had one that was calling my name and is a game where the scope is totally realistic and short enough to release pretty soon. I have been chugging away over here on that project which I will announce soon. I am hoping if it does decent enough I can use some of the funding to step up the work on UNLEASH HELL and maybe get some help!

Thank you to all who have read this far, I know it was long and your time is valuable.
I will post soon when I announce the new project.

Thank you so much for all your continued support!

GamePlay Trailer Debut @ Realms Deep 2021

Howdy folks!
I know it's been a long time coming, but I will FINALLY be adding a gameplay trailer to the Steam page.

The trailer will debut first at Realms Deep (Show starts August 14th @ 10am PST) and after that I will upload it here. So, Saturday the 14th there will be a gameplay trailer posted here!

I thank all of you who have supported UNLEASH HELL by wishlisting it despite it not having a trailer, that means a lot to me. It says you have put your faith in me to create a great game and that is exactly what I am trying to do for all of you.

Things have been amazing the last several months and and I am so excited for the future!

UNLEASH HELL @ Realms Deep 2021

Things have been a tad quiet around here, but that doesn't mean things aren't happening! For instance, one thing I couldn't talk about until now was the inclusion of UNLEASH HELL at Realms Deep 2021.

That's right, UNLEASH HELL will be a part of Realms Deep this year and at that event we will be revealing a new trailer. I know there is currently no Trailer here on Steam, and that will be remedied after the Realms Deep debut as I will then post it here.

The trailer reveals new content, story and a taste of what's to come with UNLEASH HELL's Heavy Metal OST.

More good things are in the works and the future of UNLEASH HELL looks very bright so stay tuned!

Mark your calendar for August 14th @ 10am PST to watch the REALMS DEEP 2021 Event

New Screenshots!

The screenshots have been updated with final game art for Tier 1! The Gore system is really coming along and is looking bloody good! It is so satisfying watching all the gibby chunks and blood flying everywhere. Next up is a teaser trailer. I will be working on that over the next few weeks.

Overall development is going really well, the game is looking great, it plays buttery smooth and I couldn't be happier with how it's all coming together. I have some exciting news but I can't share it yet as it hasn't been made public knowledge, but as soon as I can talk about it I will! It is very very cool and I can't wait to let you all know about it.

I appreciate all of you who have wishlisted the game and supported me since I started developing it. I just know you all are gonna enjoy it as the feedback so far has been amazing.

More soon!
