Hello everyone,
I’m pleased to announce that the update 2.0 for Untamed: Life of a Cougar has been released. This update brings some bug fixes and new features () to Untamed.
Below is a list of major updates to the game
1. New Character:
On the release of Untamed: Life of a Cougar, players were given the opportunity to choose the direction in which Untamed will be updated by the developer, and they voted to have new NPCs in the game first.
I’m happy to say that the first NPC has been added which is the alligator. It lurks in river and waits for its unsuspecting victim. It will give a fair challenge to the player and will add a sense of danger when crossing rivers.
2. Camera Snapping
Previously in the version 1 of Untamed, after killing an enemy while in target mode, the camera did an irritating jitter before returning to its rest position (behind the player) and this led to a break in player immersion. This issue has been fixed in the update 2.0, now you can kill as many enemies and you’ll be sure to expect a smoother camera transition.
3. Sound FX Volume
Once again, I have looked into the sound fx of some objects and areas (specifically the river) and I’ve toned down the sound effects so that you can enjoy the calming sound of the stream while running from an alligator.
4. Mapping Controls
Previously version 1.0, after mapping your control keys, if the player resumed the game, this will make the player’s custom control map display (the box that allows you to change the control) to revert back to the default value causing unnecessary confusion. This issue has been fixed in the update 2.0.
5. The Cub
The speed of the first stage cub has been slightly increased, and I’ll need the community to inform me if this is to their liking (I know this has been a request for a long time and I have to do it right)
Also I received a bug report on the 2nd stage cub not eating even if they were starving. I was able to place a ‘guard’ against the bug and it is my utmost belief that this bug will not be experienced again.
6. Expected Updates
I expect to add the remaining promised NPCs (mountain goat and crane/stork) with time under the version 2 of Untamed, as well as making some graphical changes to the terrain and the addition of a rain system (I know this is part of the weather update but I like rain :-) ) and many more minor fixes and improvements.
I want to thank everyone who has contributed in one way or another to help Untamed grow, you all are awesome.
Have fun and Happy Hunting,
Eugene.
UNTAMED: LIFE OF A Cougar 1.3
Hello everyone,
I’m pleased to announce that the update 1.3 for Untamed: Life of a Cougar has been released. This update fixes a lot of issues some players experienced as well as adding new features.
Below is a list of major updates to the game:
1. Adolescent (Teenage) Cub:
In the previous version, your cubs run away erratically when faced with danger. This resulted in the death of the cubs, but in the version 1.3, your cubs are more ‘sensible’ and they don’t run far from their mother.
2. Skybox/Horizon Improvement
I did a “little” work on the skybox to improve the visuals and add a horizon to the game. The result looks beautiful although I’ll still do more work on it until I am satisfied with it.
3. General Game Difficulty
I was finally able to balance the difficulty of the game. The ‘Medium Difficulty’ has been toned down to allow for a more enjoyable experience.
Ps. The Bison is still as strong as before.
4. Sound Volume
The loud sounds and sharp noises have been amplified to a lower level, this is to improve the general ambience of the Untamed.
5. Upgrades
I was able to intensively work on the in-game points. Now upgrade points gotten from defeating an enemy or killing a prey have been increased. This will make it easier to upgrade and improve your player.
6. Achievement and Game Stats
All stats are now filled, fixed and accurate, no more loss of game hours. Also I received a report that the required points for some achievements entered a negative value, this has been fixed and the required points will always stay positive.
7. Option to Disable the Minimap
This update was based on a special request. It allows you to enable/disable the minimap at any time. Go to settings and you’ll see the option to disable the minimap.
8. Resolution Glitch
There were some reports concerning the resolution always falling back to (640 x 480).
I’ve worked on it and you should be rest assured that the (640 x 480) resolution will not be seen ever again (unless you like choose to see it).
9. Control Fix
The controls haven’t been able to bind for some time now, this has been fixed and it will allow players to customize the controls as they see fit.
10. Trail Effects
I don’t know what type of reception this update will get, but I felt it will be nice to see some of the effects we are used to in Untamed.
The fighting is more colorful now.
For everyone who has supported me so far, especially those who helped me out in the forums when I was busy (with school work), I’ll like to say a big thank you and I’ll keep doing my best to improve the animal/nature game genre.
Have fun and Happy Hunting,
Eugene.
Update on the state of Untamed: Life of a Cougar
Hi guys,
I was able to come on the steam forums today, and I realized how long its been since anything has been said on Untamed: Life of a Cougar.
I want to assure you that I'm still working on it, although there has been a lot of stress and several distractions lately (mainly my academics), but even at that, I'll try my best to release an update that will at least clean up some glitches which I promised to fix but haven't found the time to release the fixes ASAP.
and I'll like to say a special thank you to those who spoke up for me on the forums, you know yourselves.....THANK YOU!
Thank you all for your support it means a lot to me.
Have fun and happy hunting, Eugene.
[Patch]Update 1.2 for Untamed: Life of a Cougar is now Available
Hello Everyone,
After receiving feedback on some issues present in Untamed: Life of a Cougar, a new update is now ready to address most of these issues
Weird Ultra Jump The weird jump the player makes after killing an eagle has been fixed.
Gameplay Continuation After Cub Death In the previous version, if your cub died, you had to choose to restart the game, or reload it. In the update 1.2, After all your cubs are dead, you'll be notified by the game. You can continue playing (you'll have to find a mate to have cubs again) or you can restart from the pause menu or re-load the game from the pause menu. This is in keeping with creating a wildlife simulation experience, and I thank the players who pointed this out for that.
Pestering Mate The Male Cougars (Mate) don't follow you closely as before, instead they move around and give you space to perform other activities instead of mating.
UI Elements Some UI elements which include the health-bars have been improved to give a better feeling to the overall feel of the game.
Improved Night Vision (Cougar Vision) The Night Vision (Cougar Vision) has been improved. Previously everything was hazy and green, but now with saturation down a bit and the color improved, the cougar vision looks better, and scents can easily be seen from a distance.
Improved Map This is on of the biggest improvements in the update 1.2, the map looks much smother, the icons changed, the map key gives more information, and everything looks cleaner and better.
Several bugs have been fixed including the gameplay stats, more improvements and fixes will be made as we all strive to make Untamed: Life of a Cougar reach its full potential.
I'll like to say a big thank you to everyone who has contributed to Untamed: Life of a Cougar in some or another, your support means a lot. If you enjoy Untamed, I'll be happy if you can post a review on the Steam Page for other people to see.
Have fun and Happy Hunting,
Eugene Onuoha, Developer.
Untamed: Life of a Cougar Update 1.1 is now Available!
After receiving more feedback from the community, a second patch is now available. This patch fixes some gameplay issues, especially the ones that arose from the update 1.0.
The major issues that were fixed are;
Overshooting a Target when attacking (Attack Mode)
Previously when attacking using the target mode, the cougar has the tendency to pounce away from the target. This issue has been fixed (there are still a lot of improvements to be added to the attacking and target mode).
Remove Strafing/Dodging from normal mode
The strafing/dodge function has been removed from the player mode, I removed it because it was unnecessary in hunting, and strafing is needed mainly while fighting.
So no more strafing in normal mode.
Eagle Screech
The screeching sound of the eagle has been tweaked, it is now a bit softer on the ears.
Easy Mode Balancing
After getting complaints that the game is hard even in easy mode, I tweaked the cougars damage a bit. You don't die as fast as before so basically it is a bit easier.
I'll like to know the opinion of the community on this modification.
Save/Load Button in the Pause Menu
A bug was discovered that hid the save and load buttons in the pause menu. If you quit the tutorial and load the game directly from the menu, this problem will occur. This has been fixed.
I've gotten reports of the disappearance of the save button. I'll look into this and try my best to recreate the problem so that it can be solved.
Giant arrow that is as big as Kanye West's f****ing ego
There was a review where a user complained about the arrows. The issue has been fixed. I'll also like to use this opportunity to ask players to please send reports
such as this to the discussions thread where it will be dealt with immediately rather than putting it in as a negative review, because with new updates, the bad review
doesn't change and other potential players will still think these issues are there.
But nonetheless, your thoughts and feedback are highly valued and I'll love to hear them.
Mate spawning at the wrong time
After the update 1.0 , I got reports that the mates where spawning even after having cubs. I was finally able to recreate the problem, and I'm happy to inform you that it has
been fixed.
Mission Den Icon not showing up on the Map
The issue of the blue arrow icon not showing up on the map has been fixed.
Mechanism for Choosing the Mission den
With the scale of the map, and the distance between the dens, players often find it too daunting to go to the randomly chosen den. I've changed the mechanism so that a player does not get a den at the opposite end of the map, and the distance of the mission den will be at a convenient distance, while still remaining challenging for players.
Bug in the Hints
The hint (text at the bottom of the screen) had a bug that always reminded players to feed their cubs. This has been fixed. Now as soon as the cubs are fed, the hint
will go away.
Other background fixes have been made to the game. The next update will bring a lot of graphical changes especially the map. After the next update 1.2, I'll begin work on
the major update (currently the Choice 1 is ahead).
Please If you notice any bug, or any feature that you don't like, don't hesitate to let me know through the discussions forum before you post a bad review.
For everyone who has supported me so far I'll like to say a big thank you. I'll be working hard to make sure Untamed: Life of a Cougar lives up to its potential.
Have fun and Happy Hunting,

[FIX]Males (Blue Icons on map) not showing up in the game?
Hello everyone, for some players who have the issue of the males (mates) not showing up on the map (during a new game), uninstall and re-install the game.
Doing this will make the problem go away. I've tested it myself and haven't found such problems, but for some other users the problem seems to be there. I'll add an update soon that will automatically check and address the issue, but for now, re-install the game.
Sorry for the inconvenience and Thanks.
Have fun and Happy Hunting,
Eugene.

Upcoming Additions to Untamed: Life of a Cougar
As the saying goes, developing a game does not end with releasing it. That is why I intend to constantly Update and Improve Untamed: Life of a Cougar with regular updates.
For now here are some confirmed improvements that will be added, more unannounced ones will be implemented, but these are some public improvements.
New Characters
Three new NPCs will be added to the forest, they are the fearsome alligator and the docile but skittish stork (for those tired of having cubs ;-) ), also a mountain goat will join the line-up to make things interesting.
Weather System
A weather system will be added, this means there will be rainfall as well as clear skies.
New Mission
A new mission will be added, to be precise it will be a Wildfire mission. more details on how it will be implemented will be revealed as time goes on.
Take Down Animations
Everybody enjoys seeing a big cat taking down a prey, this will be simulated in Untamed. you will get to have the chance to execute your enemies and bring down large prey in unique style.
More Improvements will be added as time goes on, for those who started out with me since the early beta versions, they know that all these posted improvements will be implemented.
Thank you for reading, and I hope you guys have fun with Untamed:Life of a Cougar.
Have fun and Happy Hunting,
