XBOX ONE/and A Simple but Crucial Bug Update

Hey everyone. In an earlier version I became aware of a small but very significant error on my part that did not allow the first stage to begin thus not allowing the player to even start a game and advance. I have fixed this on all platforms.

YES!!! URIZEN DELUXE FROSTY EDITION IS COMPLETE FIND IT ON STEAMPOWERED!!!
Hey there friends the long awaited Frosty Edition is finally here! So after much debate on whether I should create bonus rounds, I finally decided not too. Phew! Here are some things I did...

- The settings menu was finally fixed, you can run the game in window mode and in full screen stretched. You can also switch from Joystick to Keyboard please disconnect Joystick if you plan to use the keyboard.

- The bonus rounds were removed...:(

- The cutscenes were added.

- Bugs were removed.

- Final intro added.

Two songs were added, one was needed, the other is there just hanging out.

Oh and the Emerald castle was added as one of the stages.

QC was performed, but there could always be more glaring bugs out there, I might have missed...

And finally were.....DONE!!!

I'd like to wish you all a very cool year, and I'd like to thank those that were faithful.

I'll be making a game called The Edge soon, it's based on a comic book so stayed tuned.

Urizen News Update 05/07/2018

So after close evaluation of the game, I've realized that this is a pretty long game and it may need a break from all the seriousness, and it may need some bonus rounds...so I came up with these ideas, and I can't guarantee all of them in the game. Overhead hunting (maybe), surfing (WIP), Gem rain collecting, train hopping (IDK), random chest opening, card flip, slot machines. So rather than having your chosen player participate there's going to be a little story behind the reasoning of bonus rounds, and they will be conducted by our faithful Mr.Shaman, he might be up to something, hmm I wonder?

Imagine this guy riding some tall waves collecting gems...yeah there goes your bonus stage. But really wouldn't that be cool? Look here...





So yeah this is an update, so yeah here it goes,

- I've finally finished adding all the warriors and done over 98% of the bug finding for them on game pad input and keyboard.

- I've added the last sea boss stage and it's coming along pretty cool...



- and again I have changed the intro screen, had to because the world of Urizen just didn't seem like it was in turmoil with a scene of the light temple in all it's beauty. so I put the scene found in one of the last stages where the stone of the sacred phoenix is being held by a giant dragon statue apparently because it was also stolen from the kingdom of Urizen. This scene represents the magnitude of what has happened on Urizen.



- I found some things weren't working for the hardest difficulty mode, so I fixed that.

- One of the secret warriors outfit was working well with collision checking so I made him into a special ops recruit...its Romus Codename....ROM.



- added some finality by adding some warriors to the emerald nights stages while they're supposed to throw fireballs and haven't so yet they look pretty cool...



While I kind of dislike the background in the intro scene, and might have to change it once more, I am thinking of something really cool though... Also the in-game cutscenes will be made soon in pixel, but the intro cutscenes might be hand drawn by someone who's good with drawing in chibi...

Urizen "Frosty" Update 4/15/2018

Hey there kids, yup sure looks like this may be the one last of the few news updates before I release Urizen Shadows of the Cold Deluxe "Frosty" Edition. Here is an update on the following...

The Darkwater boss I've worked on put still needs to be fully implemented. The cutscenes, we'll I need to get into rhythm. All the secret warriors have been post created and integrated to get.





Looks like the achievements have all been accounted for. The enemy update has not been worked, but I have made some more.



I've drawn everything for the warriors, I just need to drop them into their placeholders. I also wanted to point out that I redid some more stages to my liking like a train desert stage, and Bloodgore's castle. Some backgrounds were also redone and they look amazing. I've also been working on a complete game-play manual.









Anyhow, why are we still feeling a little chilly. It's because Frosty is almost done.

Urizen has always been a passion of mine, if Frosty is successful or not, no one is going to persuade me to stop making games. So until I go blind or I become crippled I will continue to create. Happy warm summer.. ah I mean cold summer...yeah.

Quick Update 03/07/2018

It's the second round of development and it's coming to an end. With this quick update I've done everything from cleaning up things that didn't work like...

- I had the warrior put on wings and run around and flap its wings and go invincible but sadly no one is going to be able to flap their wings or wear the wings...it got too damn complicated.

- I've perfected 9 of the warriors of the 60 available and hidden.

- I've added a new cutscene in the Coldmoon Caverns stage.

- I've updated the new intro logo (again...yeah I know), new font.

- Finished the first dungeon stage I was talking about.

- Almost completed the 3 Dragon stages.

- Added the Dragon boss but it needs some test runs.

- I've also been working on the downloadable soundtrack, and frosty demos, putting them together and naming them the correct names ready for sale.

- Also, I finalized three other bosses like Hyperman, he's a rogue angel who dipped in the hyper star and we'll he wen't berserk.

- Updated most if not all of the achievements

TO DO LIST

- Create a Darkwater stage and boss, yeah...

- put a bit more cutscenes

- finalize the secret warrior integration

- finalize the achievement integration

- update some enemies to sling projectiles

- add a few enemies here and there

- Finish adding 41 warriors (cut and paste and tweak). They have been pre-made.

So I believe we have 2 or 3 more updates, I project that by June 2018 I should finish but it can be earlier.

So yup that's it, it's done...

I hope all my fans will enjoy the progress and effort I put into the game.

Update 02/11/2018


Hello everyone, whats up? We'll I've done a lot these two months, besides working on my IT certificate. Like yeah for all you indie game developers, always plan for the future. Anyhow here it goes. I effectively added 3 stages, worked on the Dragonland, fixed this nonsense death glitch, got more panels drawn professionally by the talented Ezatoon, added like 3 new bosses, went on a glitch hunt and found 3 pages of glitches that are now fixed. Finished with the potion making may need one last item fixed though. Updated the audio. Added fire to the intro. Finally, I got here a kick arse list of what I still need to do tidy up before the Frosty release...

1. Got to redo the Bloodgore Castle boss, simply put he has some glitches and needs to be redrawn.

2. I still have to add some props, traps and enemies and complete the Dragonlands, yeah all three stages need completion and not to mention a boss.

3. I had to redo the first Dungeon stage by mistake it will be done soon.
4. Still have to integrate some more enemies and enemy attacks.
5. Got to get rid of those weak or ugly looking enemy sprites.
6. Got to place and wrap up the bonus hidden warriors.

7. Have to add the last 3 warriors.
Fix the last few glitches.
Fix some 2 or 3 bosses.
Update the warriors so they are working button wise, doing 5 a day mostly update nothing big.
We'll it's been great. The next update will most likely feature the release. Yup it's time. Have an epic day. Peace.

November and December Update...


Hey there Urizen fans,

NOVEMBER...
Looks like the update will not be finished until February 2018, so yeah...
I had mentioned before that the stage map had to be rerouted, and so it was done. There are now three completely different routes. Also the main map has been split up into three parts per screen. The art looks pretty slick though.







Then there is the option of adding multiple endings and it has been integrated.
Romus the new spartan blue warrior bunny has been added. Romus throws spears and fireballs, he also has a sword and shield for combat.


I'm also in the middle of adding another boss for the Coldwaters level hes going to resemble an upright walking polar lion, yeah, polar lion. Some other additions have and are also taking place.



Some warriors, not all, have been finalized.

And finally I think now that the system allows for a XBOX ONE export it might just be added to the XBOX ONE when done.

DECEMBER...
What a cold productive month it's been. I believe I still got 1- 2 months to really tie it up. Here's a list of everything I've done this month to aim the Urizen to its frosty updated release...

- I think this is the final title screen update, notice the updated logo with phoenixes, color gradient back clouds, and sun glow...



- I updated the Dungeons stages all three of them. They look clean.






- I fixed the "splash" glitch allowing the player the splash in water coming in.

- I've been working on the "Witche's Hut" and it's done.

- I've added some intro scenery props like "butterfly's".

- I've updated some other 2 stages as well.

- Added some enemies.

- Currently at trying to fix the "flap" bug...

- More glitch and bug hunting, fixed some 10 of them.

- Finished the Mystic Falls stages and currently working on "Big Cat" the Boss





- Added a supersecret, and a superhidden warrior, need to add his/her other costumes.

-Finally the intro has been retouched twice.

We'll yeah, looks like February or March will be very frosty. I'd like to mention that I need to finish up the Dargon's Lair all three stages and Boss. Lastly I need to tie all the Achievements together and there is probably not going to be that enemy showcase I said there would be...very unecessary.

I'm also going to get a thorough QC review from Derek my Quality Control, reviewing for ease of use and stuff I might of missed. Thanks until February maybe March, see ya all later.

Update 9/13/2017

Hey folks,

We'll it's been a few months now, and to tell you the truth it's been really bad, considering that I had upgraded to Game Maker Studio 2 but found it just not suitable, and the fact that it's been slow and HOT throughout the day. So here's a list of everything that has been done to further the development of the huge update that is Urizen Shadows of the Cold Deluxe Frosty Edition.

- many of the player sprites have been further updated to look extra "frosty"
- 2 stages of mystic falls have been added taking the game to a new height full of alien cats and weird blue dodo looking birds




- the sound select has been updated to look really cool, take a look...




- most of the sound design has been updated, no more annoying "ughh" or childish voices.
- a lot of the player collisions were fixed
- some of the stages were redesigned or overhauled
- some cutscenes were added, take a look



- got rid of the health orb because it wasn't working out, replaced it with a frosty health meter
- more bugs have been eliminated


Here's what's planned or still needed...

- the stage map needs to be rerouted now you can take different paths or
shortcuts to the final mission I may in fact add different multiple endings
- new warriors still need to be added
- the new and updated bosses need to be made
- all the updates for the warriors need to be made
- there will not be a multiplayer mode at all, I will try to make one later as a
separate game that I've been working on.
- once we are done in December I might just put this up on the PS Network.
Yup.
We'll anyhow, it's been rough with school and all, but I'll pull through, if not Christmas day then of course a little later.

Urizen Shadows of the Cold Deluxe Edition Update 2/21/2017

Hey everyone, we've got a small update for you, but where to start?

Alright, so first off I've completely integrated the on-screen life expansion feature which enables the player to purchase these permanent double life gauge orbs that maximizes your available life gauge to 200, available in the Urizen store .
Next, I've finally managed to integrate a simple settings screen which allows for a full-screen and windowed option, plus you will be able to choose from keyboard and joystick.
Third I've started to add a 2 player co-op, but I am wondering whether to integrate a simple "deathmatch" mode, I really have my doubts that I'll finish it by June. I'll probably add it come another update.
Fourth back in my high school/college days I had a create a warrior feature implemented in Urisis (now Urizen). I had removed it because of missing code that became unavailable in Game Maker after an update. Apparently that missing code is back. Which means my fellow warriors might be creating warriors for themselves.
Fifth I've laid out the Dragon's dungeon stage which is now the Dragon's peak.
I've been working with the menus a bit for ease and clarity.
The bug apocalypse is almost over...still hunting them down, just a bit of them.
I've finished some stages like Bloodgores castle, but still in need of a great boss, the initial planned layout is done though. another graveyard stage has been made. With boss coming soon. The Azurite stages are all finished including the boss, but may need some tweaking.
More enemies and enemy revamps.
A lot of the enemies shoot projectiles now.
Oh and the finality is now a notch more surprising and funny, you'll find it a lot interesting and compelling..

We'll I've realized that Urizen could do with more in-game hints, so I will be implementing farmers, citizens of Urizen and peasants to interact with the player and give out game-play hints and secrets. You'll be talking to a funny looking crow named Bones soon, yeah he'll probably try to sell you something. LOL Again the create a stage is on its way but a doubt I'll have it done by June though, I might dismiss it altogether. Yes I could do so much with the world of Urizen but I'm only one guy with a hobby, and a quality control/writer friend named Derek Killion, and Efe Tozan my proud hired musician. I'm going to keep rolling with project Urizen as long as it takes, I'm in it 'till the end.
