I've been working on characters for the last couple of months. Namely, over the controller of the game character and the clothing system.

CHARACTER CONTROLLER

The game has the ability to switch from eye view (first person) or back view (third person). The video demonstrates a basic hand-to-hand combat system (block, punches and kicks) and a basic parkour system that allows you to climb various objects.

CLOTHING SYSTEM

The character can change different items of clothing (shoes, pants, T-shirts, jackets, hats, masks and backpacks). There are plans to make it possible to wear clothes in layers like in the game The Long Dark. For example, three pairs of pants for warmth.

The clothes will influence the character, keeping him warm as the seasons change. On the contrary, in summer there will be overheating. If you run barefoot, you will get injured. Different footwear will affect the speed and noise of movement.

When putting on boots or other high shoes, the pants are automatically tucked into the shoes. This will avoid the shoe model passing through the leg and just looks cool.

⚠ Most of the 0.24 update is bug fixes and various minor changes that it makes no sense to describe.

⚠ At the moment, I think the survival system and interface are ready. In April, work will continue to refine the behavior of AI.

ITEMS

Added rainwater collector. Water in the game will come across quite rarely. Therefore, I made this simple device. The moisture collector is installed on the surface of the earth and during rain, water begins to accumulate in it. Is the water drinkable.

Later, puddles that will appear during rain will be added based on this mechanics.



Added the ability to use part of the item to crafting. Previously, when crafting, only the number of items was taken into account. Now you can use a percentage of the item. For example, half duct tape, not the whole duct tape.



A working torch has been added, which can be used for lighting and self-defense. The torch can burn 1.5 - 2 minutes of real time, after which it burns completely. To craft a torch, you need a board, three rags and 10% of the fuel from the canister.



Added the ability to open various doors and extend furniture drawers.



Campfire burning duration increased.

INTERFACE

Added sound volume settings to the pause menu. You can separately adjust the sound effects or decrease the volume of the music.

Added option to disable the interface. This feature can be used to record videos and screenshots.



The "Download game" and "Save game" buttons have been added to the pause menu.

Calculation weight of the craft items. Now, when transferring items to the crafting window, their weight continues to be taken into account. Previously, things could be worn in the craft window and they did not weigh anything.

A crouch icon has been added to the interface. In addition, when the character sits down, the field of view expands slightly. This allows you to better understand that the player is sitting.

Added a small recovery of maximum stamina when the character is crouching.



Changed indicators placing objects on the surface. Now they are gray and not so bright.



CHARACTER

Parameter of the mental state of the protagonist. With a low level of psyche, the player will begin hallucinations (elements of horror).

This parameter depends on the state of the character (health, hunger, thirst, body temperature, time of day). Anomalies and other characters will also affect the psyche.

Added the ability to drink from puddles and other bodies of water. You can drink from the moisture collector and other water sources in which rain water will collect.



EFFECTS

Background music has been added to the game. To day and night, different musical compositions are played. At night the music are more sinister.

Improved smoke from a fire. Now smoke does not pass through solid obstacles. For example, if you make a fire in a build, the smoke does not go beyond it.



The effect of eyes closing is added. If the character wants to sleep, then in addition to yawning, he will begin to involuntarily close his eyes.

Improved water physics. Previously, if you push a floating object, then he endlessly moved forward. Now objects are slowing down.



Added light from the moon. This allows to see at night.

Reduce size of raindrops. Raindrops do not fall in buildings.

CHARACTER


Added the possibility of loss of consciousness. If the sleep value a minimum, the main character will lose consciousness, sleep off and wake up if he does not die. Added sounds of sleep.

Also added the effects of low sleep level. If the character wants to sleep, the picture is distorted and yawning sounds are turned on.

Added the ability to throw various items for hunting or self-defense (stones, bottles, spears). Thrown items cause damage to bots. Some thrown objects can stick into some surfaces (in the ground, in wood, in bots). When throwing, you need to hold the RMB to increase the throwing power. Added an indicator in the form of a ring for aiming.



Now, when the main character freezes, steam comes from his mouth.

When immersed in water, objects in the hands are automatically thrown away.

WEATHER


Clouds modified and improved. Now the density and color of the clouds changes depending on the weather and time of day. Now character wet from the rain.

Added wind. Wind affects the player’s body temperature, the direction of the fire smoke and the angle of rain. The wind changes speed and direction. Also added a wind indicator in the interface. The wind does not affect the player in tents, building and other shelters.



INTERFACE


Modified the effects of low health level. If the character has little health left, then red pulsating veins appear in the corners, the screen begins to fade and blur. Also made a death screen which displays how many days the player was able to survive.

Now when you open a box or other storage, things in the cells do not appear immediately, but after a short period of time. Simulated container search.

Added the ability to unpack items in the inventory through the context menu. In this way, various packages can be opened.



Added highlighting of selected objects when hovering over them.



OBJECTS


Was added system for installing objects on various surfaces has been improved. Added alignment of the object on the surface, checking for the angle of inclination of the surface and type checking on the surface. Added indicator highlighting so that it would be visible in the dark.

Added objects such as tents and caches. In tents you can sleep, hide from the rain and store items. Items in such objects are saved. Tents can be folded and carried with you. When folding the tent, objects from it do not disappear, but are thrown to the ground.



Improved campfire. The model is redone, the ability to disassemble a bonfire is added to get stones and not attract opponents. Added glow of coals when burning a fire.



LOOT


Added a chance of falling items when spawn in world or in boxes. Thus, in the game rare items will be found less often than others.

Added spawn function for random objects around the player. Objects spawn in a certain radius on a certain surface. This function allows you to automatically fill the game world with various small objects with which you can interact.

For example, in the forest will appear sticks, mushrooms, plants, small animals. In industrial locations, garbage and loot.

Objects are automatically deleted if the player moves away from them a certain distance. It also has a positive effect on performance.

LOOT


Now you can inspect any items in the inventory. They can be rotated and zoomed. Later, based on this function, it is planned to make the possibility of more complex interaction with objects. For example, quests based on item research, weapon customization.



Objects such as boxes, boxes, safes, etc., in which you can find different objects or put your own, are added to the game.



Added the ability to pick up large items. Weight of the transported items and inventory items is added up. What affects the character’s power consumption.



Added working binoculars.



FOOD


Reworked eating system. Some items have a percentage. Thanks to this, for example, food can be partially eaten.



Added "Stomach volume". The stomach is filled when eating food and drinking drinks. If the stomach is full, then you can’t drink.



Now to eat canned food you need to open them with a knife. Based on this system, other similar features will be added later. For example, disassembling objects into parts using tools. It remains only to make 3D models.



INTERFACE


Added weight indicators for inventory and boxes.



In the lower left corner text prompts are displayed in the form of thoughts of the protagonist. For example, if the character is freezing, a hint appears that you need to light a fire. If the inventory is full and the player is trying to take the item, a message appears that you need to free the slots, etc.

Reworked bonfire interface. Now the bonfire has cells in which to put items for burning. The items have the value"Fuel". The larger it is, the longer the subject will burn and maintain the flame.



Redesigned crafting interface. Now, when you click on the icon of the item you want to craft, open slots that need to be filled with resources.



Added sounds of interaction with the interface, the separation of stack objects into parts with an accurate indication of the number of objects in the stack. Minor interface bugs fixed.

USSR 2021 v0.21 New inventory, main menu and save game

Redesigned inventory. Now the inventory is made in the form of slots. This will remove the restrictions on adding new items to the game. You can stack most items to save space in inventory.

Redesigned crafting system. Now, to craft an item, you need to drag the ingredients for crafting into the cells as in Minecraft.



Added main game menu and pause menu with basic graphics settings. Later settings will be expanded.



Added sleep system. During sleep, the game is saved and endurance is restored.



Reworked the effects of low health, fatigue and freezing. Now they have become voluminous.



Improved swimming system. Added sound effects under water. Added oxygen parameter, which is consumed under water and in anomalies.



Added in-game calendar. Based on this, it is planned to add a change of season of year in the future.

Added damage from fire and anomalies.

USSR 2021 v0.2 Survival System, Weather, Interface

Added the ability to drink and eat food. At the moment, you can eat canned food and meat. After eating canned food, empty cans remain.



Improved inventory interface. Added the ability to assign items to quick access buttons.



Icons of player characteristics are hidden if their indicators are normal, so that the interface is minimal.



Made the interface of interaction with fire. Now you can use most of the items as fuel for the fire (cloth, rope, gasoline and to another).



Disassemble objects into consumables. For example, a pallet can be taken apart on boards, a book can be torn on paper, clothes can be torn on a rags, and to another.

Now you need to change the batteries in the flashlight.

Improved weather effects. Added morning fog. During rain the brightness declining of the sun and the range of visibility is reduced. Made stars, moon and lightnings.



Made the blur effect when submerged under water.



Added sounds of interaction with objects and interface, as well as sounds of falling physical objects. For example, empty can rattles when dropped.

Now there is a small zoom when you press Z.

One person is working on the game since May 2017. Materials do not reflect the final quality of the game.
