Valiant servers will be disabled July 30th 2017

We will be bringing down the Valiant servers permanently on July 30th, 2017.

It was not a decision we made lightly. There were many things factoring into this decision, such as server hosting costs outweighing sales and ourselves stopping active development of Valiant.

We have disabled purchases of Valiant through Steam, but we'll be keeping the servers running until 30th July for people who already own the game.

We hope that you have enjoyed Valiant for the last year and we hope you continue to enjoy Valiant over the next month and a half before we bring down the servers.

We would like to say a massive thank you to our fans. You have made our time and effort over the last 2+ years all worth it. We wish you the best in all your endeavours.

From the whole team at Offpeak Games.

Next Update - sneak peek

We're currently working on an update for Valiant.
There will be a new map, "Mongolian Grasslands" as well as changes and new additions. This will go live in February, with a beta test branch in Steam going live in late January.
We'll do a post in the next few weeks with more details of the changes and additions.

Here's the sneak peak of the new map:
Mongolian Grasslands

Valiant 1.6 - New Lancer class for Vive users

Patch notes for Valiant Early Access 1.6:

  • Added the Lancer class for Vive users. Remember to aim for the head to do increased damage. Also, press and hold the trigger to swap to a mace in close quarters.
  • UI overhaul: Added new UI for the main menu and for the ingame respawn menu

We hope you enjoy jousting people from their steeds! As always, please let us know your feedback.

Valiant 1.5 - UI, map rotations, shadows, netcode and end of round achievements

Patch notes for Valiant Early Access 1.5:

  • Overhauled all of the spawn menu and end game UI. It now shows the best players of the match, unique achievements that people gained, as well as your xp and any new levels.
  • Map rotation: At the end of a match, it will load everyone into a new map. This means you won't have to change servers to play on a different map.
  • Performance improvements: users with low-end PC's will have a much better framerate and users with recommended spec machines will see far less dropped frames
  • Shadows: stationary objects now have shadows (high quality baked shadows) and dynamic objects now have blob shadows.
  • Hint popups: relevant hints will appear in the respawn menu
  • Major improvements to the netcode extrapolation. When dying to melee hits, it will no longer seem like the attacker was out of reach from hitting you.

Upcoming Patch + Summer Sale

We'll be releasing Valiant Early Access 1.5 in a few days, as soon as we tidy up a few loose ends. These patch notes shouldn't change much, all the below is in and working, we just want to fix a few more bugs before we push it live.

Upcoming patch:

  • Overhauled all of the spawn menu and end game UI. It now shows the best players of the match, unique achievements that people gained, as well as your xp and any new levels.
  • Map rotation: At the end of a match, it will load everyone into a new map. This means you won't have to change servers to play on a different map.
  • Large performance improvements: users with low-end PC's will have a much better framerate and users with recommended spec machines will see far less dropped frames
  • Shadows: stationary objects now have shadows (high quality baked shadows) and dynamic objects now have blob shadows.
  • Major improvements to the netcode extrapolation. When dying to melee hits, it will no longer seem like the attacker was out of reach from hitting you.
  • Hint popups: relevant hints will appear in the respawn menu (such as warning people that their headsets have mics and the default VoIP setting is "voice activated", or showing the user where to change comfort options, etc)

Valiant 1.4 - Major comfort improvements

  • Created a new first-person helmet to improve comfort
  • Added a vignette during turning to improve comfort
  • Get cosy: the spawn lounge is now tighter, bringing you closer to other players
  • Now correctly remembers the last VoIP setting
  • Bug fixes such as: throwing axe physics in spawn lounge and crosshairs in menus

Servers Down - Hosting provider has unplanned outage

User will not be able to find game servers for presumably the next few hours. This is because our master server is hosted in Sydney on Amazon Web Services EC2 and unfortunately all AWS instances have been down on all availability zones in Sydney since 10:39pm PT, Saturday 4th June (60 minutes ago at the time of this message)

AWS are aware of the outage and are working on restoring service as soon as they can. Hopefully it shouldn't be more than a few hours.

Sorry for the inconvenience. If you want to follow the status of the outage (and view lots of angry comments from various Australians) then you can do so here:

Upcoming patch - Comfort Improvements

A quick update: we're just a few days away from releasing Valiant Early Access 1.4.

1.4 has been focused almost exclusively on improving comfort (plus a few bug fixes). We're doing some in-house testing and we'll get it out to you as soon as we can (within 2-3 days).

Valiant 1.3 - New bow model, throwing axe physics, arrow physics

  • Revamped throwing axe physics
  • Added new bow model
  • Revamped arrow physics
  • Improved comfort by removing death effect

Valiant 1.2.2 - Fixes and changes based on user feedback

  • Adjusted comfort mode snaps to be more intuiative
  • Fixed framerate/judder issues on The Red Waste
  • Slightly increased round times
  • Made it easier to nock the arrow to the bow
  • Added nocking point object onto bow string
  • Automatically recenters camera when loading map
