Act 0 (2.0) DONE!
Hello everyone! Thank you all for your continued support of my silly little horror game, I've got some exciting news to share!
Act 0 (2.0) has been COMPLETED! If you didn't know, I'm remaking the entire game from scratch in an effort to up the quality and make the game better in every way! See a video about that here:
Act 0 is half of that 2.0 project, and it has now been completed! (Some more polishing is needed!)
Here's the breakdown:
Intro cutscene: This cutscene has been completely remade from scratch and now tells the story better, is more visually appealing, and just overall higher quality! The music has also been replaced with my own song, "Crying Bubblegum". If you have already played the game and are looking to replay it, you will also be able to easily skip this cutscene from the pause menu (really not recommended but yall forced me into it :( )
House: The house has also been completely remade and this time, we start out in the player's bedroom. Lucas. His bedroom is beautiful and insanely detailed, it also shows way more of his personality!
Texting: The texting scene has been completely rewritten from scratch and rebuilt completely around a new phone engine. It now works flawlessly and looks and feels incredible. With sound effects too! There are also 5 endings now! 4th Wall, Bad, Best, Decent, and Nasty endings!
Bike Scene: This is honestly the star of the show! It has been completely reimagined and now instead of a boring road, it is split into 5 sections!
The Neighborhood: Avoid cars, both parked and pulling out!
The Desert: Nagtivate through the deserts and washes, avoid coyotes, rocks, and more!
The Main Road: Drive through a main, one way road, avoiding cars and falling rocks, and more!
??????????????: Secret??
The Forest: Just like the old cutscene, but this time its realtime and playable!
And thats a wrap! Act 0 (2.0) needs a tiny bit more polishing but its complete! Once Act 1 (2.0) has been complete, 2.0 will be ready for release!
Act 2 Updates
Act 2 has been going so well! This is the hardest thing I've ever done and progress is very tricky, but still progress nontheless! I've gotten the voice lines and have been slowly adding to the game! I go to school fulltime, but maybe, maybe if we get lucky and the stars align... this year???

Act 2 News! - DAY 1 COMPLETED (FINALLY OMG)
Hello everyone! So sorry for the radio silence, but I've got some AMAZING news. After 7 long months, I've finally finished Day 1 of Act 2. THIS IS BIG AHH
In case you don't know, Act 2 is divided up into multiple "days". Day 1 is the most difficult day by FAR. AND ITS DONE.
I still don't know a release date or window yet, but I'm going to release it as soon as I can. But remember, quality over quantity! I will not rush Act 2 or anything like that, I won't release it until I'm completely satisfied with it.
With that being said, let's get into the nitty-gritty details!
Act 0 (2.0)
Act 0 has definitely been neglected the most, but I've worked on it here and there! I actually streamed it a few days ago, check it out: During the stream, I improved Lucas' house and I improved the bike scene's map! It was great fun!
Overall, this act has been neglected.
Act 1 (2.0)
Act 1 has received a lot of amazing updates! THE PINTER IS DONE. Her chase is completely done and I love it! I finished it in this dev log: The chase is broken up into 4 parts:
The Backstage: A super intense buildup full of mind tricks and illusions
Part 1: A short but intense confrontation, first time seeing the pinter!
Part 2: A much more involved chase, truly showing the Pinter's powers and abilities!
Part 3: The Finale. Only the strongest of players will get this far. The finale use an extremely advanced AI that is able to learn and self-correct to best attack you!
You may have also been able to tell, but her model has MASSIVELY been improved:

SO NEEDLESS TO SAY PROGRESS HAS BEEN MADE! :D Once I get bored of Act 2, I'll start working on the brand new flipped world of Act 1. Which includes completely remaking all of the bosses from scratch, remaking the whole era, adding a story to the act, etc etc etc.
Act 1 (2.0) is going to BLOW you away.
And finally, Act 2
DAY 1 of Act 2 has been completed. Now Day 1 is only about 15 minutes long, its the shortest day, but it was the most difficult to create. Here is what I have been doing in the past 7 months:
Finished Lucy's complex AI and remade it MULTIPLE times.
Finished Lucy's house, the MOST COMPLEX SET I have EVER made. That house is so insanely detailed, it's crazy!
Coded an automatic animator for lucy, which can procedurally animate her legs, head, body, fingers, etc.
Coded an automatic lip-sync tool + reader that lets me instantly lipsync Lucy's dialogue to her mouth
Planned the entire act out and wrote most of the script out. I think it is extremely well written! I'm so excited for you guys to see it! There is a ton of plot twists and really cool character arcs, ya'll will LOVE IT.
Made a good majority of the music for Act 2
Hand animated about 25 minutes of animation for Lucy (so far)
Scripted out the entirety of Day 1 and implemented everything
Beta tested the HECK out of Act 2, found and fixed a TON of bugs
etc etc etc

Update 1.1.4! - TONS OF FIXES
Hello everyone! I've spent all day today fixing a ton of stuff, check it out!
Big Fixes and Improvements
Fixed ALL volume issues in the game. No more loud jumpscares, no more buggy skeletons, its all fixed!
Fixed the settings (visual mostly) not saving between scene files or on reload (yes, this means motion blur will STAY off)
Added the ability to turn off mouse smoothing (for you ColdlordX :D)
Added checkpoints for the Helpsie, so if you die you won't have to restart the whole thing
Added checkpoints for Efix, so if you die in the vents you wont have to restart the whole thing
Made the glow flashlight way brighter so you can actually see whats going on!
Added a tutorial for the Helpsie, so players now know clearly how to drop it
Improved the prerendered cutscenes so if they don't work (issue with Windows 7 i think), you'll still get to experience a bit of it!
Fixed the mouse being weird and glitchy

Hello all you amazing people, sorry for the complete silence and stuff, but I've been working crazy hard to get Act 2 and Act 0/1 (2.0) done asap, but I'm not rushing. Quality > Quantity!
I've been super busy with school, this last semester was the worst semester of my LIFE. But I'm on summer break, which means VENGE GALOOREEE!

Essentially, I am completely remaking Act 0 and Act 1 all from scratch, massively overhauling everything so Act 0 and 1 match the quality of Act 2! I'm taking in tons of feedback and it's almost like a community project! I'd love to hear your feedback on my discord! :D
Brand new PINTER CHASE
As you can see in the video, the pinter chase has been MASSIVELY improved, and its crazy how cool it is now! Here's some screenshots:

Act 2 is in development hell, but I'm hoping to get to it real soon. Things have been going well, lucy is very rough around the edges still, but more is to come! :D

Update 1.1.3 - More polishing and finetuning!
Some minor fixes!
Fixed a secret that I promised my server, turns out it had broken.
Added a brand new thing to make up for that secret, I was originally gonna just add this in 2.0, but it's in the game now, good luck trying to find it :>
Added a warning for copyrighted audio and instructions for how to clear it
Updated the credits a bit so they are more accurate (and added some cute stuff there too)
Updated the theater
The key in the vents actually has a purpose, its not the purpose originally intended, but its cute nonetheless
I think that is all, Act 2 and 2.0 are coming along... sorta? Act 2 and 2.0 are basically trapped in the biggest development hell you've ever seen as I struggle with my exams lol, but I'm slowly but surely making progress.

I just released my 4th weekly update on my Patreon, it's basically a really in-depth progress update with some minor spoilers, images, videos, etc. Definitely worth checking out if you are interested, they are actually getting the first-ever Patreon demo very soon! UPDATE 1.1 News - Cartoonist Boss + Audio Issues
This Update
We are on version 1.1! This patch contains a LOT, let's get into it!
General Stuff
Fixed the resolution being weird on the title screen (finally?)
Fixed a lot more of the audio issues, your eardrums have been spared this time.
I finally made some of the rooms brighter, you can actually see what's going on now!
It takes a bit longer to heal now, so now you can actually die!
Cartoonist Boss Fight
Fixed the cartoonist glitching out randomly
Made the cartoonist properly execute its AI steps and will now actually pose a challenge
Made the cartoonist area a lot more strategically challenging
Added save points inside of the cartoonist area so its not as frustrating
Improved the map a tiny bit
Fixed the lighting so its not as dark and you can actually see whats going on
Fixed the super loud lights being super loud
"Chairman" stuff
Fixed some of the chairman appearances not working

Act 2 and the 2.0 updates
I've been working so hard to get Act 2 done and I've made excellent progress, Lucy is almost now fully animated in the scenes I have done and I've fixed the pacing issues. Beta testers loved what I have done so far, I think I'm finally on the right track.

The death screen has been updated, you will now see 25 new death messages that actually have something to do with the plot and aren't just random cliches! Definitely worth checking out.

Act 2 Updates
Act 2 is going REALLY well, I'm like 15% done with it. 15% in 2 months, not too bad. If everything goes perfectly smoothly, Act 2 should be ready hopefully by the end of this year, if not early next year. I'm a solo full-time college student dev, so it is tricky to work on it constantly, but I am doing my best! Act 2 is really really cool. There is about 10-15 minutes of gameplay so far! Act 2 will probably be something like 2-4 hours long!
OH! And as a little bonus, here is a cute little render I made of the new Cartoonist boss fight in 2.0 with Lucas!

Update 1.0.43 is here! It is quite a small little patch, many bugs and issues have been fixed:
HOPEFULLY fixed all of the sound issues, you will no longer get random sound blasts
Fixed settings not working, they will now properly sync between scenes
Made parts of Act 1 more clear
Made the Cartoonist boss fight less tedious
Fixed accidentally falling through the floor in the Cartoonist boss fight
Fixed Chairman in some rooms
And way way way more that I just forgot!

Act 2 Updates! (FINALLY)

So sorry for the complete radio silence on my part. I'm working crazy hard on Venge and also trying to speedrun university at the same time. It's great fun, I do not recommend it.
Act 2 News
Act 2 is about 10% done, I've been having sooo many issues with it and finally, I've got them all cleared out. It is looking GREAT so far, I really think you guys will like it. It is already my favorite act.
I've been working hard to make sure Lucy feels realistic and natural. Lucy isn't just some boring NPC, Act 2 is all about collaboration and cooperation. Lucy stays with you for like 90% of the act and ya'll help each other out. Imagine fighting massive spider-like bosses together. Yup, that's coming.
I'm expecting Act 2 to be about 2-3 hours long, so there will be plenty of fun and spooks coming your way!
The 2.0 Updates
Act 0 (2.0) is going very well! I've finished all of the music for it and I've been working on the act itself. It feels soo much more polished and refined. Plus, there is way more to the house you get to explore. You also will get to learn so much more about the player, Lucas. (Yes I've changed it from "Justin", long story)
Act 1 (2.0) is going well, I've learned a lot of stuff about optimization so I am now going through and remaking every single room and really polishing up the studio. Now it actually looks like you are exploring through an abandoned building. I've heard your feedback about Act 1 and there is a whole lot less walking and uneventful, repetitive actions. The inventory system has been completely redefined and will be used in puzzles and stuff, it is crazy how cool it is.
Act 1 (2.0) [flipped] is going well too. Believe it or not, after the pinter jumpscare you are transported to a different dimension. I'm making that way more obvious. The cartoonist boss fight will be completely changed because the old one is way too repetitive and most players I've talked to / watched gameplays of think it is too long, so I have a great new idea that'll come out in 2.0. The Helpsie area is seeing massive changes as well. Let's just say it'll be way more challenging and impressive.
The Music
All of the music is being replaced. It turns out I know how to make music now, so all of the music you'll hear in 2.0 and Act 2 (and onwards, even in my other games) will be 100% made by me. Isn't that great! That also means that it'll be available on your favorite streaming services. WOOT WOOT!
As for gameplay youtube people, this is great news because you no longer have to deal with pesky copyright claims. I am SO SORRY about all of that, I had no idea the music would be copyrighted until it was too late. Never again!
Release
That's all great and all, but when can we expect a release?
Not sure, tbh. I'm a broke fulltime-college student so I'm not exactly working on Venge full-time, but I am giving it my all. I am HOPING that I'll be able to fully give a release date next year, if not release it next year.
The release rollout will be a few weeks long, Act 0 (2.0) and its soundtrack will come out, then Act 1 (2.0) and it's soundtrack will come out a bit later, then finally Act 2 (and its soundtrack) will drop! That month is gonna be crazyyy!
