About Verne: The Shape of Fantasy

Set in an alternate 1888, the war against the dreadful “Nation” has reached its breaking point, devastating the world of Hemera. Aboard the mighty Nautilus, Jules Verne, Captain Nemo, and the courageous crew struggle to uncover the secrets of Atlantis, the fabled utopia that faced mass destruction from the very power source Verne and his crew aim to locate: the Flame of Hephaestus.

“Jules Verne’s fantastic novels and their impact have transcended decades, and we’re thrilled to honor these incredible tales by reimagining them as interactive experiences where players can decide what happens next,” said Diego Adrada, CEO and Lead Developer at Gametopia. “It’s amazing what a little imagination can do, and we’re eager to see what kind of adventures are able to unfold in their search for Atlantis.”

Features of Verne: The Shape of Fantasy:

  • Tool Master: Discover and master the “IMAG,” an ancient Atlantean device allowing Verne to rewrite his story and change the fate of the adventure
  • We’ve Got Company: Non-linear dialogues create a robust cast of characters in a thrilling story that reflects the human ability to imagine and tell larger-than-life stories
  • Unlock Atlantis One Puzzle at a Time: Utilize side-scrolling gameplay, inspired by old-school adventure games where solving puzzles and exploring every inch of your surroundings is key to success

Final volume of Hemera Stories: Death of the Ancestors

Our webcomic comes to an end. You will be able to know the fate of the ancestors, the protectors of the Flame of Hephaestus.

The stories we have told in these webcomics will help you to understand Hemera's world, especially the fate of Atlantis, the main theme of Verne: The Shape of Fantasy.

Expanding the story of Verne: The Shape of Fantasy.

We've developed a lot of lore in the game. Perhaps too much... although, really.... there is never too much lore!

We have gone deep into the history of the world of Hemera. That's why we created this webcomic, where you can discover the rise and fall of the mighty Atlantis.

We hope you enjoy it and that you, future players, fall in love with the rich world created by our imaginary Jules Verne, which we hope you will never forget.

Extra! Extra! Stories of Hemera is out!

In “Verne: The Shape of Fantasy” you put yourself in Jules Verne’s shoes to venture into the dangers of Hemera, a fantastic parallel world, built from his own imagination. A narrative pixel art game that drives you, through exploration and puzzle-solving, to the most coveted secret of the mighty Atlantis, in the midst of a dystopian world war.

And the discovery of this GREAT SECRET of Atlantis is what this four-issue webcomic series is about...

...Which we proudly present: “Stories of Hemera”, a microseries that plunges into the multi-layered lore of the world in which “Verne” takes place, to reveal some of the most important events of its history and add detail to what is already told in the game.

As Aitor Garay (game concept artist and author of this series) puts it: “Verne, video games and comic books... Ain’t it pretty to live in a transmedia world that allows you to mix all these wonderful things?”

We hope you will enjoy the reading as much as we have enjoyed rendering it.

Greetings from the Nautilus!
