If you're wondering how compatible Verses of Enchantment is with the Steam deck before Steam does their own tests, here's a rundown:
The game runs natively on linux and performs well
The game has full controller support
The game has an alternative font to improve legibility
But...
The game's UI & text was originally designed for larger screens, so the game does not read that well on the Steam deck
So in short; The game is playable on the Steam deck, but I recommend a PC for a more comfortable experience.

Release date announcement
Hi all,
The time has finally come; Verses of Enchantment is releasing in 2 weeks, on the 1st of August!
Thank you all who have wishlisted and tried the demo, I'm excited for you to try the full game!
Save files are compatible with the full version, so no need to start over!
Cheers Ibe
Demo update
Hi all,
Another update to the game implementing some requested features and accessibility:
Changed the deck card limit to 15-20 cards instead of exactly 15
Added a travel button to the map nodes so you can directly travel there
Added a duel speed option
Added full controller support (steam deck to be tested soon)
Fixed a lot of minor UI and other bugs
Adding controller support was more of a hassle than expected, on to steam integration (cloud saves, achievements,...)!
Cheers Ibe
Demo update
Hi all,
Here's another update to the game:
Added the 'Gallery' to the title screen where all featured public domain artwork is viewable
The game now makes automatic save backups in case data gets corrupted
Fixed a bug where Elana's AI would lock up when using her 'Dust' card (Thanks @LVS for reporting this bug)
With the gallery added to the game, the game is feature complete. In the coming month, I'll be adding some more story content, steam integration (cloud saves, achievements,...) and implementing and testing some requested features/changes.
Cheers Ibe
Demo update
Hi all,
Here's a quick update to the demo:
Changed the mouse cursor to something more thematic
Added accessibility options for fonts, and colorblindness, among others
Incompatible save data is now moved to a separate folder instead of being deleted
There's been reports that the game crashes when entering the campaign mode; this is caused by incompatible save files from previous versions. Normally, these should be compatible, but as a temporary workaround, the game will put saves from previous versions in C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Godot\app_userdata\Verses of Enchantment\old\ and create a new one.
So if you're wondering where your save data went and would like to transfer your data, please send your save file to support@nachtvlam.be so I can see where the problem lies and push an update that allows for these saves to be patched.
Cheers Ibe
