Vicious Circle Refund

Hello everyone,

We're aware that some folks aren't able to receive their VC refund on Steam due to the platform's 14-day owned/2 hours played policy. We're reaching out to Steam for a fix ASAP. We were told they could lift that restriction for the game since we were going F2P, but unfortunately it appears that the restriction hasn't been lifted yet. Thank you for your patience as we work to get this sorted. We will update everyone once we hear back.

Update on Vicious Circle

Hey friends!

We have an important update to share about Vicious Circle. Starting right now, the base game and Founder’s Pack for Vicious Circle are free to play. This also means any new content created up until this point will be released free of charge as well. New content includes more Legendary Skins, character missions, and Cosmic Chaos effects. As an added bonus, for our last update we’re adding a brand new monster, Sheldon the Crab, to antagonize our Circle Mercs.

If you purchased the game or the Founder’s Pack, we will be issuing refunds back through the original platform where the game was purchased. If you bought a copy of the game through the Rooster Teeth Store, please contact our support team here https://support.roosterteeth.com/hc/en-us/requests/new. Why is Vicious Circle going Free to Play? In short, the game didn’t succeed. We came together on a super creative ambitious new project, put our hearts into it, did our best to support it, and it didn’t work out, and that’s okay. Not every idea we have will be a success. We have to fail to find success. Servers will remain up because we made a game and we want the community to still have a chance to play it. We don’t want price to get in the way. We remain proud of the work that was put into the game and want as many people to have the chance to experience it as possible.

Regarding the future of the games under our umbrella, we are still able to address bugs and add fixes to Vicious Circle and RWBY: Grimm Eclipse; however, neither game will be receiving future content updates. Additionally, Bendy and the Ink Machine and RWBY Deckbuilding Game will be unsupported for the foreseeable future.

We’re thankful to everyone who worked on and supported this project and to everyone in the community who gave it a chance. Though this project is coming to a close, we’re not done trying new things. We want to do right by the community and make content that really connects with you all. Your feedback is invaluable. Don’t ever stop telling us what you want. Thank you.

Patch #2

Morning Circle Mercs!

Today brings a big post-launch patch! This patch includes a new event and tweaks to characters and other gameplay balances. Many of these alterations are based on the vital feedback you’ve sent in. We’re adjusting our production schedules to provide that content sooner but being mindful and not placing the team in crunch.

Let’s dive into the meat of the patch!


New Event - Slot Machine


Slot Machine Added to the Game


  • Gamble your existing Nuggets to earn extra nuggets
  • Spins out a potential 2x, or 3x prize.
  • Beware though, you could lose everything!!!

Balance Changes


All Mercs
Double Jump / Jump Height Increased: 10%

Zella

  • Removed knockback and slow modifier on basic attack
  • Minor Damage Increase: 20 -> 22.5

Dipper

  • Respawn Time Increased: 3s -> 6s

Peggy Sue

  • HP Increase: 2000 -> 2600
  • Charge Cool Down: 10.75s -> 10s
  • Respawn Time Increased: 7s -> 10s
  • Walk Speed Decreased: 875 -> 775

Gadget - Damage Multiplier

  • Increased 2x -> 3x

XP Updates

  • XP Curve: Increased XP needed from Lv. 1-30 by evenly spreading XP across 1-50
  • Added Drip XP: Round Completed = 75 xp
  • Added Drip XP: Round Won = 125 xp


Challenge Fixes

  • Challenge - “TeleportStunnedSlowed”: Requirement down from 25->1, XP reduced
  • New Lottery Machine challenges
  • Emote Challenge requirement reduced 1337->42
  • Tutorial Rewards properly awarded for completing Tutorial


Audio Fixes

  • New sounds for Mercenary emotes.
  • Lil Dippers are now guaranteed to vocalize when near a mercenary, so you can better detect when a Lil Dipper is coming at you.
  • Fixed an issue where weapon shot sounds for CR45H & BURN were playing from wrong position, when heard by other players.


Major Bug Fixes


  • Fixed Peggy Sue charge getting stuck in certain cases
  • Inactivity timer will now only increment during the game and resets between rounds.
  • Inactivity timer no longer applies in the tutorial.
  • Added missing Nugget FX to the small nuggets.
  • Ejecting as CR45H & Burn no longer removes positive status effects (healing, damage boost, etc.): Note Known issue with the eject ability: you won't see your damage boost FX while you're in the ejected state, but other players will see it.


Other Notable Bug Fixes


  • New baby Peggy Sue model added to the game! Cuteness levels increased.
  • Performance improvements across the board
  • Spray - RTX 2019: Spray has the correct resolution now
  • Stats - Monster/Merc Wins: Now tracking more win stats for balance purposes
  • Zellas 3rd person rig and animations were updated.
  • Updated localization in various languages
  • Fixed various languages not fitting in UI elements
  • Fixed certain Lil’ Dipper spawn points in geo
  • Fixed certain cases where Peggy Sue and a Mercenary could win
  • Fixed voice chat getting disabled under certain conditions
  • Mercenaries can no longer enter monster spawn areas
  • Fixed an issue where air control could be lost after using a man-cannon
  • Fixed various issues with late joining
  • Fixed issues with controllers not being usable on certain menus, or after certain actions
  • Fixed sprint not working on controllers and allow sprint to be rebound on controllers
  • Fixed an issue where mercenaries couldn’t be possessed while healing
  • Fixed issue with doors that could push players through the floor

News and Patch Planning (Plus a Preview of Patch #2)

Afternoon, Circle Mercs!

Now that we’re in the post-launch world, we’re all about talking with you and keeping the content and fixes coming. To that end, we plan to keep up a general cadence of weekly beats.

Tuesday News and Patches
  • We will try to keep a constant news flow so you know the latest from the devs. Also, when patches drop, we want to target Tuesday, that will give us the remainder of the week to react to potential bugs/ feedback.

Wednesday Dev Streams
  • We plan to stream the game each wednesday. As beefier updates hit, we’ll sit in the studio so you can hear the news from the dev’s themselves. On our non-content weeks, we’ll be running a standard webcam and stream setup for games with the community and Q&A.

Thursday Community play nights
  • We’ll be hitting the Discord server, cracking the energy drinks, and queueing up in-game to go toe to toe to chicken claw with the community.


We are currently Testing Patch 2!



The plan is to release Patch 2 with all its updates and fixes early next week. If that timeline needs to be pushed out, we will post an update here.

A short note on patches: We are working on releasing medium sized patches every 2 - 3 weeks depending on the stability while testing the patch.

Patches will have lots of goodies, including: NEW events & gadgets, gameplay balances, community feedback, address bugs & known issues, along with a myriad of other items.

All blocking issues will be hotfixed ASAP, and will only address the issue blocking players.

Please note that there will be a detailed rundown of the actual patch alongside its release. For now, check out the highlights of Patch #2

Highlights of the incoming patch

  • New event, Slot Machine, added to the game!
  • New baby Peggy Sue model added to the game!
  • Some minor balance changes to the mercs, Peggy Sue, and damage multiplier.
  • Updates to the Season 1 XP curves. Added an XP drip and evened out the low level curve.
  • Fixed multiple issues with the challenge and challenges not tracking properly
  • Fixed some audio ducking issues
  • Fixed Peggy Sue charge getting stuck
  • General performance improvements

Vicious Summer!

Vicious Summer Begins!

Today, we are hosting a large live stream event with loads of our friends from the LetsPlay Network. Groups like Achievement Hunter, Funhaus, Rooster Teeth, and many more! For the uninitiated, tune in to see a large scale tournament of Vicious Circle with several crazy events between the games. Hotfixes, Trading Cards, and Community Day!

Happy Thursday Circle Mercs,

HOT FIX!
We have a couple of hotfixes for ya. One dropped yesterday and one should hit later this afternoon.

1) Vicious Circle is run on our own dedicated servers. To improve your connectivity, we address an issue where some regions had a slightly longer connection wait in pre-game lobbies. Now all players in all regions should have a smoother experience.
2) We've heard a lot of chatter about balance, especially regarding Peggy Sue. Good news everyone - we're nerfing the chicken! Check out the list below for more details.

  • Reduced Peggy Sue health.
  • Slightly reduced Peggy Sue move speed.
  • Increased Charge cooldown.
  • Increased Peggy Sue and Lil' Dipper respawn times.
  • Adjusted Evac Zone capture time.
  • Increased Damage Boost effectiveness.


We’re also cooking up fixes for Patch #2 (Patch #1 was on launch day). We’ll have further character balancing, gameplay fixes, overhaul to the post-game award system, and much more. Don't worry, though - you'll still be able to earn the Teen Choice Award. A vast majority of the fixes in the coming patches/ hotfixes are started with your feedback so keep sounding off in the forums!

We snuck a few bonus items into your life today! We added in trading cards, profile backgrounds, emoticons, and badges. If you’ve been playing a decent amount prior to today, you have likely received a few trading cards already. Hit the Trading forum and start hunting for the cards you want!

Rooster Teeth Community Day!

Here at Rooster Teeth, we celebrate the 15th of every month with our community and today’s theme is Game Night with our devs! We invite you to join our Discord and play a few rounds of VC with the very people who made the game.

Game Night is tonight from 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. CT.

LAUNCH DAY!!!!

Welcome to launch day, Circle Mercs!

WE’RE LIVE! Rooster Teeth Games is proud to launch Vicious Circle to your waiting hands. Today’s the day you can finally start backstabbing your friends, stealing nuggets from people from all across the world while gaining progress towards your free battle pass.



Our dev team will be all over the Steam forums. If you have feedback about the game, want to suggest something awesome and new for the game, or are just looking for a playgroup, hit the forums.

Vicious Summer


Since this is launch week, we’re getting a few friends together for a party called Vicious Summer.. You’re all invited to come hangout and join the wacky times in chat! Vicious Summer is six hours of live gaming shenanigans and comedy, to celebrate the release of RT Games' new game, Vicious Circle. A variety of online gaming talent will be separated into five teams, competing against each other, Olympics-style. Competitions include Vicious Circle gameplay, eating competition, Bob "Sauce" Ross challenge, Vicious Beer Pong, and a bunch of other fun, outdoor Summer games. Think Double Dare meets Guts, with just a little Reservoir Dogs... plus there's video games.
