A Scenic View

Hello you absolutely amazing racers, the race committee and how we call it German, the "Strassenbauamt" (yes, we have funny words here) have been super busy the last two months with reworking and prettifying all of the existing race tracks and one completely new one (yes, we reworked it before it even existed.... however we did that....).

To keep a short story long, here's all the things we did since the last time you read any Steam news about Viewergames Arcade:

The Game



  • Overhauled Tracks: All racetracks/maps have been tweaked for smoother gameplay, based on all the feedback we got from you, and also have been improved quite a lot eye-candy wise.
  • One New Map: Added "Over Round" as new map that for the first time features bridges over the race track!
  • Tweaked Car Behaviour: We put some turbos in for more horsepower and also fresh new tires for all the grip you need to stay on track.
  • New Feature: Kick Player - you are now able to kick unwanted or missbehaving players from the game.
  • New Feature: Winner Inbound Notification - when the first player is dangerously close to the finishing line, you'll now get a notification so you don't miss the great moment of victory.
  • New Feature: Killfeed - We took a loan from the UT books and added a "Killfeed" that constantly keeps you and all of your viewers informed about everything that's currently happening, like cars jumping into bombs or off track - further more you can simply click on the names in the Killfeed to quickly jump to places of interest.
  • New Feature: All the stats are now shown in the leaderboard, like air time, damage, drift time, etc.
  • New Feature: Quick Tips Ticker - since we don't have an awfullot of loading screens to tell you interesting or important things and tips about the game, we now just put it into a ticker on the bottom of the screen that also auto hides when the action starts.


The Twitch Extension



  • Fancied Up: The track images in the extension have been improved, we spent over 9000 new pixels for this.
  • New Feature: Lines Connecting Waypoints - to show more clearly where you car is going to drive, there's now lines connecting the waypoints to give you a better overview of what the car will be trying to do.
  • Enhancement: No Waypoints Off-Track - You now can now only set waypoints on the actual racetrack, no more accidental placing waypoints somewhere in the grasslands or the middle of nowhere.

Get Wrecked UPDATE

Hello everyone! *waveshand*

We've been busy, again, putting a few new things into Viewergames Arcade we hope you'll enjoy.
This time around it's pretty much all in the game, after the Twitch Extension got a bit of a facelift, last time, it's minor bugfixes only, for the Extension, this time, but more so nice stuff in the game - so let's go down that road:

Wreck It!



Blowing up all those cars is already fun, isn't it?!
But when they go "boom", they're just gone. Poof. Like they've never been there.
Wouldn't it be cooler if they'd actually leave a burning wreck?
If you now say "Yes. Yes it would", then hooray, 'cause that's exactely what they're doing now!



Of course the wrecks will eventually burn out and dissolve into smoke, leaving a clean track for you to cause new and more havok on.

Burn It!



As if burning wrecks are not enough, the race can be even more on fire, now - literally!

If a bomb (or car, for that matter) explodes close to an oil spil on the track.... the oil now catches fire!
Drives a car through the burning oil, it also catches fire and takes damage over time, while burning.

TOTAL MAYHEM! :-D

A Whole New World MAP!



We present to you a whole new map, kind of like a prelude to deathmatch races :-D
Meet your new racing arena: RAMP EIGHT



Featuring a ramping crossroad with a deadly hazard shouldn't you be able to make the jump.

There's some more things we added, changed, fixed or just made much more awesome:

Even More Cool Stuff in The Game:




  • Bay Mayhem now has a ramp - this is the beginning of the introduction of "track hazards" - we got QUITE some more stuff planned, here, so stay tuned!
  • Updated default idle camera positions - the default idle camera positions now give you a way better view of the track, if you haven't set your own


More Cool Stuff in General:




  • Fixed a few bugs in the Twitch Extension - like unvoluntary rejoin after a race and wrong waypoints after a mapchange
  • More chat commands - many of you asked for this, for several reasons. So, now you can not only join the game via !chat but also use all your items! (still have to get them via Channel Points, though!)

Live-Items, Timers and Improvements

Hey guys!

Hope y'all made it good into the new year!
We've been quite busy in January to answer more and more of your feedback and suggestions - this time we added so much cool stuff, again, my fingers hurt from all the typing to get them into this news.

So let's get rolling!

THE GAME


Stuff we did to the main game:

  • NEW: A classic "start your engines" countdown when the race starts: 3, 2, 1, GO!
  • NEW: A super neat timer to auto-start a race - no more "we're starting at at 11:05pm", just set the timer to any time you desire, start it and the race starts once the timer has timed out.
  • Improved: You can now toggle between "use mouse to click on things" and "use mouse to look around" mode - no more need to hold the right mouse button to move the camera, you can still do this, if you want, but just toggling the mode via the TAB key now works as well!
  • Improved: The leaderboard now takes up less space, can now be moved/dragged to anywhere you want on screen or be stuck to either side and using the full screen hight.
  • NEW: A notification window informs you - and your viewers - when the timeout to use items after a race started is over and items can now be used. No more guessing if that bomb will already drop. (you can also drag the notification to wherever you want, and it will vanish completely once the timeout is over.)
  • NEW: Just hit the "1" to "9" keys to quickly engage the cameras follw-mode for the current ranks 1 through 9 - as a bonus "0" will follow the 10th place.
  • Fixed: A bug where the bomb actually spawned 20+ bombs at once, at the same place, all inside each other - basically not only destroying cars, but also the performance of the game.
  • Fixed: A bug causing the ice/snow patches in "Forzen Peek" not actually affecting the cars as intended.
  • Fixed: Added some more damage zones to maps, so make cars stuck too far off the track go "boom" faster to respawn back on track.
  • NEW: Added a shiny monument to every track, to praise our patreons ❤


THE EXTENSION


Stuff we did to the Twitch-Extension:

  • NEW: Reworked the UI a bit: All the seperate "screens" or "pages" of the Extension are now sperately and directly accessible via tabs on the top - kinda like you know it from your browser, already.
  • Improved: Replaced some UI elements (esp. the buttons on the track view) with nicer ones.
  • NEW: "Clear All Waypoints" now shows a dialog where you can choose to actually delete all waypoints or load the default ones. Or to cancel to whole thing, in case you changed your mind or miss-clicked.
  • NEW, Improved and totally awesome: All items are now fired LIVE! Yes, NO need anymore to place them on a waypoint. Just get a few 25-Packs of items using you Channel-Points and once the race has started, fire away to your heart's content.


THE BALANCE


We took care that the univers is in universal balance by doing theese balancing acts:

  • Lowered damage dealt by "da bomb", but raised the force other cars are pushed away with, form it.
    (Less insta-kills, but more ROFLMAO like situations with cars flying all over the place.)
  • Reduced the time the oil will stay on the track.
    (You had a good chance you run into your own oil, on shorter track, also now that the items are "live fired", you can drop as much oil as you want anyways.)
  • Tweaked the heck out of the nitro-boost: Duration down, power/speed bonus up plus added a new "grip bonus" to keep your car from loosing traction and spinning out of controll.
    (Results in "kicking yourself off track" down and "funfunfun" up.)
  • "Heavy" and "Fast" cars got a bit more grip - heavies due to their wieght, fasts due to their sporty spoilers and other tuning stuff that gives you downforce.
    (The fast cars actually are drivable, now!)
  • Reduced HP of fast cars a bit.
    (With the added grip, they had an advantage we needed to counter somhow. Now they're fast'n'fragile.)
  • Raised the "time to respawn".
    (So far, wrecking your car didn't really yield any penalty. Now it does.)
