Patch Notes - January 8, 2017

Added 27 new images to the library, including the following:

World War I Scenes
Several Images of Paris
Scenes from the World's Fair in St. Louis
Several Images from the Middle East
A Nice View of Mt. Rainier

Patch Notes - January 7, 2017

Thanks to user spiritofcat who pointed out 6 images that were inverted, I was able to fix the images and now they look much better! The images impacted are listed below:

Track Workers
Norwegian Farmstead
Fast Friends
View Deck of Gunboat
View on Deck of Sidewheeler Hunchback
General Grant's Council of War

I also implemented a slide position indicator that shows you which slide number you are on. This makes it easier to tell where you are in the slideshow and it is displayed just below the projection screen.

Patch Notes - Dec. 1, 2016

Added 29 new images to the collection, featuring the following:
-An amusing series of images about love and marriage
-A still from a silent film
-A scene from the Minnesota Ice Harvest
-A scantily clad pin up girl
-A great agricultural scene (digging a ditch)

Check them out and let me know what you think! :KSmiley:

Patch Notes - Nov. 30, 2016

-Refactored to work with latest version of SteamVR (1.1.1) and Unity (Camera rig changes broke the app)
-Removed some stereograms that were particularly hard to focus on

I have done some prototyping of dynamic loading of images to allow for easy extensions, but Unity takes an eternity to process new textures from disk, which makes it very challenging. The reason the current form of the application works so efficiently is that everything is already loaded into texture files for easy loading.

In any case, for the time being I will keep trying to sort it out, but I am also planning to do some other improvements to the application in the meantime, such as adding new images. :golden:

5/5/2016 Update

Thanks to everyone for all of the great feedback! I have implemented some of the most common suggestions in this update:

- Added an appropriate time period music soundtrack that plays in the background
- Added ability to mute/unmute music using touchpad on one of the controllers
- Added music symbol on trackpad of controller that is used to mute/unmute music
- Added date information for a large number of photos that is shown with the title
- Fixed a few images that looked bad due to cropping
- Fixed vertical position of gramophone
- Tweaked LOD distances for some objects
- Updated to latest version of SteamVR plugin for Unity
- Added ability to use Xbox controller bumper buttons to cycle through pictures

I hope everyone enjoys these improvements! If you don't like the new music, you can easily mute by pressing the touchpad on the appropriate controller. Let me know if you have any issues with this update!

5/2 - Official Release Available!

After receiving final approval from Valve, the game is now available for download on Steam! I worked through the weekend to make some final tweaks and add another 200 stereo cards, bringing the total to over 700 in our initial release! If you download the game and encounter any problems or have any suggestions for improving or expanding the application, feel free to post in the discussion forum. Thanks everyone for the support! :beatmeat:

4/30 Changelist

-Performed final validation for Steam release and removed some images that weren't up to par.

-Hunted down over 200 additional stereo cards and added them to the application, bringing the total number in the base package to 533.

I am awaiting final approval from Steam to release the game. Once they approve it, I will upload the latest build, test it, and mark the game as being available for download. I'm really happy with the collection of stereo cards and hope everyone out there enjoys looking at them in VR! :KSmiley:

4/29 Changelist

-Added a text field that is shown below the projection screen, which will display the title of each stereo card. This is very helpful for providing context for the various pictures, since it is not always obvious where they were taken.

-Created an XML-based package system for defining sets of stereo cards as precursor to Steam Workshop support

-Reorganized the base package of stereo cards by location (all of the Egypt photos are grouped together now, for example)

4/28 Changelist

-Added the ability to teleport around the room by pointing one of the controllers (with a laser pointer effect) and pressing the touchpad. This makes it much easier to explore the room and view the images from different distances.

-Disabled the ticking grandfather clock sound since it was a bit of a nuisance.

-Removed a few pictures that were particularly uncomfortable to look at and didn't focus well

-Finished tweaking the initial store page images and text. The new trailer is a lot better than the greenlight one.
