Connection Issue Located - Progressing to solve it

Hi Players of VFC!

After some extensive internal testing, we are able to recreate the problem, thus it is only a matter of time that we're able to pinpoint the problem, and to solve the problem!

In the meantime, to make a connection work, after you invite someone, don't worry about 'hit to cancel', it is ok to wait longer. And the player who received the invite should see the first connection attempt be timed out, don't worry at this stage, a new invite will appear immediately and if you accept this time, it will be successful.

We have tried internally many times, and this seems to be the pattern, we are in the process to detect the root of this problem, and hopefully bring a hotfix soon!

this is a new problem that never happened before, it must be something we did on a patch prior which affected few things.

Rest assured that this connection issue will be solved!

VFC is Launching!! | Time to share some tips



Tips on playing VFC:



1. You need to put power behind your punches, learning proper punching technique will help you immensely in VFC!

Remember 1 big punch is > than 10 light jabs

2. Don't let your guard down, your exposed face will be an easy target for your opponent to exploit, and same applies to you, you should always seek to strike where the enemy isn't defending! Throwing too many punches into enemy's defending arms will only make yourself tired!

3. Try to use your space effectively, move around, dodge around, work on your footwork to create space or close space, pace control yourself! Don't tangle into a close quarter fist frenzy!

4. When you're weakened (broken screen in front of you and a band-aid sign), STOP PUNCHING as your attacks will be rendered ineffective, you will need to stay defensive until recuperation then to resume the attack again

5. Learn your character's ability! use them to your advantage!

Notes on VFC Menu Screen Navigation:



Entering the game, you will need to navigate around the menu screen by punching the menu boxes.

You may find creating a user account a troublesome procedure, this is a way for us to tell players - hey you're entering a punching game ;)

Good news is, it's cookie stored, so you won't have to do it ever again!

Notes on Firewall Setting



For the first time activating VFC:

After you try to make a connection and it doesn't seem to work (stuck on connecting), check your firewall setting, and please tick enable both private and public for VFC executive file.

You may need to restart the game after firewall setting is enabled.

Notes on connection speed optimisation:



Connection issue (abnormal high latency)

In order to achieve the optimal latency, we used a P2P connection method to bridge the connection of 2 players and implemented a 'Punch-through' to set up the communication between routers.

But that punch-through does fail from time to time, and when it fails, the game has a relay server to back up the connection, but that will result in what seems to be an abnormal latency.

In order to solve that problem, we advise players to modify your router's UPnP setting to ensure the P2P connection will work all the time. However, we do acknowledge that opening a UPnP could weaken your internet security, so players please do so with discretion!

Another small matter is, in testing, wireless internet connection does result in clunky in-game animations as we presume it's due to the frequency of internet information flow is not up to level with wireless connection type, so ensure you have a cable-type of internet connection!

Release date adjustment No.2: Match-Making Improvement & Single player content

Sorry, VFC fans! In light of some extremely valuable community suggestions and feedback that we have gathered over the last few weeks, we have decided to re-adjust our release date again to allow ourselves some time address one of the most important concerns which is "for players to be able to find a game opponent".

To shine some transparency to VFC's current situation, and to re-assure our fans of VFC's current state of quality, the most crucial P2P connection punch-through function is well completed and working as intended, during our internal testing, we're actually pleasantly surprised by how smooth the game can be played in the online environment and under reasonable latency. But there is still yet a lot to be done in the areas of match-making system. In the end, we want for VFC to have a very robust match-making system that filters opponent based on the best connection possibilities, and also is not too reliant on active online players to have fun. VFC will provide tools to facilitate players to self organise games and play sessions, providing features such as scheduled match appointments, and background match-making while you're enjoying VFC's variety of single player contents.

Which then leads to us introducing our planned single player contents. VFC's single player content is not a filler feature that only serves as a mode for players to 'kill-time' with, but instead, it is some carefully crafted independent game modes which in its integral, becomes an essential part of VFC's final form. For those of you who followed our recent Reddit posts, you may have already heard about our ideas to introduce a 'time-shifted' multiplayer mode - we will soon post an interview video with our core developer Yang to discuss this time-shifted multiplayer mode in detail, please stay in touch on our Youtube Channel!

So to conclude, unfortunately we will have to re-adjust the release date for VFC again in the hope to ensure that when it has finally arrived, it will arrive at a good condition!

Again thanks the community for the kind words you have wrote to us in the last few weeks, as well as the high expectation you have placed onto VFC, we will try our hardest to not let you down, and deliver it to your hands with proud!

The following list is a description of what VFC will include when it's finally released as an early access game on Steam:

- A robust auto match making system.
- A schedule match appointment feature allowing player to announce their routine play hours, and allowing other players to 'book' a match with you, for which you can decide to accept or decline ( all with rewards and incentives attached when you honour an appointment).
- An early prototype of the 'time-shifted multiplayer' game mode.

Release date delay

Hello Community!

It's Yang here and on behalf of the whole team at L&L studio, i'm sorry to announce that VFC's release will be delayed for 2 weeks, we want the best experiencing possible for our players, and our team had a heated discussion and concluded that there are several elements in the game that need refinement.

But rest assured that all the delay is worth the wait, we are making solid improvements on the game literally everyday, and we are striving to make a great game that VR and fighting game fans all deserves!
