Viscera Cleanup Detail: Shadow Warrior

Update v1.14; Small fixes.

Greetings, wise mop masters.

I come bearing a few droplets of bug fixings.
Mostly to do with a save game crash and flickering lanterns getting a bit painful to look at in dark areas.

Here is the full(albeit very short) list:

Changelog:

Game

  • Added an internal limit of 3,000 on the number of player-generated bloody footsteps the game is allowed to save. This should mitigate crashing on save-file loading.
  • Slightly increased the general surface offset distance for attached paper notes.

UI

  • Added a "No Flickering" option to the Light Complexity setting, allowing you to keep full detail shadowing without the flickering.

There it is.
Stay sharp and clean, everyone!

Update v1.135; Fixes slash their way out of purgatory!

Greetings, janitor-san.

I come with long awaited fixes and improvements, gathered from the dark crucibles of the katana forge.

It sure has been a long time, but finally we've wrapped up countless fixes from the main game and rolled them on into the Standalones.

We've also added a number of improvements and minor features to the game that I think you'll find useful.

Read on for the full list!

Changelog:

Game:

  • Improved the office "Punchout Result" Viewing Screen interaction. Moving the cursor left and right was slightly inaccurate.
  • Made physics time-stepping adjustable. Making it possible to prevent small objects falling through bins and buckets at the cost of performance.
  • Made Punchout report form "Tick Boxes" also assess the boxes that you don't tick.
  • Items placed in the trunk in your office are no longer carried with you to Speedrun sessions.
  • Added a "Collectibles" read-out screen to the punchout-machine interface for Speedrun sessions, telling you what items of interest are in your trunk.
  • Fires caused by broken lanters now cast lighting and shadows on the highest graphics settings.
  • Increased max number of minutes for "Time Limit" setting to 300, up from 240. Giving you a maximum setting of 5 hours.
  • Fixed the Funk Ninja songs being reset when you move out of its sound range.
  • Fixed Janitor player gibs not keeping their colors and skins after saving the game or travelling between levels.
  • The player now always spawns at the same place in Speedrun games.
  • Made the Funk Ninja support "Global Radio" settings.
  • Fixed Broom not being affected by certain water sources.
  • You can now finally stick EotM photos and paper notes to surfaces by holding down left-mouse(Interact) and pressing right-mouse(Drop / Hit).
  • Limited Bin and Bucket machines to a maximum jam spree of 5 times in a row, unlikely to notice a difference in most cases.
  • Fixed Performance Stats displayed when selecting a level from taking the newest time(during an equal Cleanup %) instead of the best previous time. (New best performance % still replaces time, which could be worse than previous best)
  • Fixed a loading issue that resulted in dropped items like brooms from occasionally vanishing if they were held by the player during saving. Similarly safe-guarded against confusion with tools that were destroyed during gameplay.
  • Slightly reworked the way Speedrun time impacts your final rating(Fired, Clean, EotM, etc), simplifying the impact of being under or over the par-time. Scores should remain unaffected.
  • Made Punchout Report forms only reward you for fields you actually enter a value for. Report accuracy still accounts for things you don't enter.
  • Tripled the amount of bonus points you get from ticking the right box in a Report(IR-8) Form check-list.
  • Doubled the amount of bonus points you get from filling in Death Report(WTF-12) Forms, due to the difficulty involved in completing them.
  • Fixed Hosts being able to cheat in Speedrun mode.
  • Fixed objects transferred from the office to other levels using the trunk not being saved by the level, and instead always appearing in the trunk again when you load that saved-game.
  • Changed Death Report Accuracy value to reflect whether you put all the PIDs into the punch-out machine or not. Previously only considered inserted PIDs.
  • Fixed the annoying player name being "True" or "False" problem. Was caused by the "VSync" setting overriding player name.

User Interface:

  • Added "Physics Quality" setting to options menu to control physics-time stepping.
  • Adjusted the "Average Length" text for levels to say "X hours and X minutes" instead of "X.X hours"
  • Added a "Mono Radio" setting to allow you to hear the Funk Ninja without 3d spatialization.
  • Added "Use Gamepad" setting to options menu, allowing you to toggle input from any plugged-in controllers.

System:

  • Spread auto-saving out over several seconds, greatly reducing the sharp frame-rate drop it caused previously.
  • Fixed Ambient Occulsion setting not always taking effect when it should be.

Multiplayer:

  • Improved object syncing and stability with bins and buckets. They were a complete demon on clients!
  • Improved object syncing and stability with bodies and other skeletals that start out awake on clients. Much less freaking out at the start of a session.
  • Improved periodic object syncing and misrepresentations of what is and is not awake on the client.
  • Made Speedrun difficulty more fair in co-op. A total of 4 players now results in approximately 1/2 the alloted time. Was previously 1/3. Effect now also scales-up with more and more players.
  • Improved the hideous clattering noises experienced by clients when moving loaded bins around.
  • Fixed tool props not vanishing from player's backs when they drop their tools, either manually or from dying.
  • Fixed tools like brooms not always being dropped by players when they die or disconnect.

Shadow Warrior:

  • Decreased Speedrun par-time for Shadow Warrior by 10%.
  • Made it possible to get "Mr. Two Million Dollars" achievement without cleaning the level.
  • Added "RetryAchievementUnlocks" console command for retriggering "Mr. Two Million Dollars" check. For use in rare cases where it doesn't work normally.
  • Fixed trigger in doorway accepting collision hits from the player's Mop.
  • Added Shadow Warrior-themed loading screen.
  • Made it possible to toggle the Funk Ninja by holding down the left-mouse button.

An there you go, noble Janitors.
Clean well!

Update v1.091 now emblazoned upon your Katana!

Greetings nefarious Ninjas and suspicious Samurai!

I bring with me a briefcase containing nothing less than the rather handy update v1.091 for the VCD:Shadow Warrior spin-off.

It's an update of mostly fixes with a couple improvements splattered on the side.

Don't take my word for it though, consult the old master; changelog-sensei:

    Game:
  • Reduced startup memory usage, helping to eleviate the "Ran out of Virtual Memory" crash issue.
  • Fixed issue with P.I.D names being replaced with random ones if the game is saved before the P.I.D has been picked up at least once.
  • Fixed controller input getting stuck on the Janitor PDA when switching weapons; interacting with PDA now uses Trigger keys, and not Shoulder keys.
  • Fixed Escape Menu pause lock-up when playing splitscreen.

    UI:
  • Added Key Bindings for Next and Previous tools to Controls Menu.
  • Improved navigation in Options menu, making it possible to scroll from the OK button up to the last item in the list.

And with that, my work here is done... *ninja smoke*

*coughing ninja* Ahem, ah yes, have a good holiday everyone! Don't forget to cleanup your share of Yakuza kibbles, we must all do our part for the greater good.

*ninja running away*

Update v1.09 live!

Greetings Mopping Ninjas and Swabbing Samurai, Zilla Enterprize brings you another update!

Not a whole lot going on in this one, just a few things that seemed to have been forgotten, and a couple all important fixes.

Zilla assures me that the contents are not dangerous, but something about his demeanor told me otherwise. Oh well, you'll have to judge for yourself by looking at the list:

    Maps:
  • Fixed use of the wrong Mop in Office.
  • Fixed a note spawn point in the Office being stuck in the doorframe.

    Game:
  • Overhauled the trophy collection and trunk transfer systems, hopefully resolving the duplication and vanishing item issues once and for all.

    Multiplayer:
  • Made several experimental changes that 'may' improve network connectivity.
  • Fixed clients' Always Run setting being overridden by the server, resulting in very "steppy" movement.
  • Fixed Trunk contents not appearing in the trunk when clients first connect.

    UI:
  • Removed the pointless red line and square present on the Main Menu panel.

Whew, still alive. I guess he was just having a bad day. Either that...or the contents kill you slowly. Hmm...

Oh well, it's probably nothing, enjoy everyone!

Updated to v1.075

Hi all!

We've just uploaded a small update which fixes a couple things from v1.07. Changes below:

    Maps:
  • Removed the Funk Ninja from the Office.

    Game:
  • Fixed mouse cursor being frozen, usually upon entering the "Options Menu".
  • Briefcase lid no longer gets duplicated upon returning it to the office.

    UI:
  • Fixed Debriefing screen stamp showing "Granted" in the event that you make a truly terrible mess, instead of "Company Liquidated".

Have a great weekend!

Overhaul: Update v1.07 is here!

Greetings all!

Whew, it's been a really long time since an update, but finally we have one, and it's large!
While we have mostly been busy with the main Viscera Cleanup Detail game, the collection of fixes and improvements made along the way have now finally been integrated into Shadow Warrior.

This means that the game has been almost completely overhauled, making it much more stable and fleshed out than its current version.

Among the significant changes are:

  • New "Office" system, where instead of getting an instant readout on your performance, you are now escorted to a separate level where you can collect items and receive a detailed review of your actions in the level, telling you exactly what objects you missed, what the consequences were, etc.

  • Also, the single "generic" character has been complimented with another 18 different characters, including 9 female skins.

  • New User Interface, complete with a bunch more system settings.

  • Improved multiplayer and networking; might still be some very stubborn issues here though I'm afraid.

  • Countless fixes and improvements to almost all areas of the game, some more obvious than others.

It was hard to keep track of everything that had changed as a result of the update, so there is no actual "changelog" I'm afraid.

So, there you have it! This should greatly improve the general game overall. Although not a lot has changed on the content side, there are several new features.
Enjoy, everyone! And keep those areas clean...for Zilla!

NOTE: A word of caution if you experience problems or crashes with the game. Much of the folder structure has changed and may leave your current structure messy and out of date. So if you have problems, it's probably best if you re-install the game fresh, removing all old files and then reacquiring them from Steam.

Update v0.28.

Hey ya'll!

Small update here; mostly just fixes and a few modernization's present in full VCD. Changelog down here:

  • Removed 'View Leaning' effect while 'View Bob' is off.
  • Added autosaving.
  • Implemented Steam networking.
  • Added 'Steam Friend Games' list to Main Menu for easily connecting to VCD games hosted by friends.
  • Added 'Text-To-Speech' option for silencing/unleashing MS-Sam.
