Fixes a vital issue where controls would not instantiate correctly and would cause the game to become unplayable.

Speedrun and Accessibility Update - Version 1.1.0

​This version of Visual Out contains an extra menu with options for aiding accessibility and speedrunning.
This updates adds options for:

  • Map Assist mode that adds placement and item markers to the pause menu map
  • Always-On HUD for people who prefer a more traditional UI experience
  • Invincibility Mode
  • Infinite Energy Mode
  • Manual Text Advance mode for people having trouble reading on-screen dialogue
  • On-Screen Timer
  • Cutscene Skip mode for speedruns
  • Seeded Glyph Rooms, making speedruns more consistent between runs

Patch 1.0.3

​Two updates in this patch:

  • Fixed a backtracking issue at the lower-right part of the map that could cause players to get stuck at a save point.
  • Map tweak to make a late-game powerup more intuitive and provide room for an associated tutorial on the powerup.


I don't like making map changes post-release, so this will be the only one. I just had a real problem with the way this upgrade was handled, and I wish I had handled this pre-release. But it is what it is. The fixes should have no effect on saved games and you should be able to progress as normal, but if you do encounter errors due to the update, please let me know.

I've also been trying to get Steam overlay working, and while it works on Windows, I'm having trouble on Mac and Linux. I'm going to tinker with it for a few days, and then probably post a patch in the "Test" build branch.

Hotfix for Soft Lock and Title Screen Issues

Version 1.0.2 includes the following hotfixes:


  • Fixed a softlock with Boss 2
  • Fixed a softlock with Boss 4
  • Fixed hard-lock issue on the title screen for some users
  • Fixed exploit regarding Turret shields
  • Fixed issue where Turret shields appeared on enemies too early
  • Fixed collision in a save room
  • Added clarity to Boss 3 mechanics
