After over a year without patches, the game was fine as it was but there was room to change a couple of things.


FIXES/ IMPROVEMENTS


- Game window allows to be resized.
- There is a new mode called : Fullscreen (Windowed). This was created to solve a few incompatibility issues with some drivers.

- Performance improvements.

- First few levels tutorial have been smoothed out. Less warnings should appear but game play is a little bit more intense now.

- Beekyr Reloaded banner appears now if you don't have it yet. What are you waiting for? ːsteamhappyː It's a great game. You can get itvery cheap if you get it through this bundle.

Patch 1.3.4
After over a year without patches, here is what needed to be done.


FIXES:



- Fixes some small achievements issues.

- Performance improvements. The game shouldn't slow down after playing a long game.

- The hidden final ship can be selected now.


ADDED FEATURES:



Vortex Attack 40 Stages!
You can play quicker games by pressing SLOW + FIRE when starting a new game, you will get to the later levels in less time but beware you might get there with less powerups...

Awesome patch 1.3
Kaleidogames brings you the latest and best Vortex Attack update. Get ready to enhance your game to 1.3.

This patch makes the game future proof, so it might be the last one.

Ships balance changes:



  • Beekyr
  • Verminest
  • Kromaia
  • Snipper-bullet-hell enemies will shot slightly less but will deliver faster bullets instead
  • Some of the bosses are a bit harder to beat now


Added:



  • Some social texts in main menu (game needs your help)
  • 2 new enemy types (we call them the riot hoses)
  • 5 special stage types
  • 3 health capsules classified depending how much energy they heal
  • 4 score capsules, classified how much score they give


Improved:



  • Some boss graphics
  • Some ship animations
  • Some vortex graphics
  • Steam title images
  • Some achievements are more accessible now
  • Later stages are not that long any more


Fixed:



  • Player ship won't become invincible till the end of the stage sometimes
  • Retro mode low performance problem
  • Asteroids never reached left side of the screen


Removed:



  • Help button from menu during game-play.


Overall:



  • A lot more fun.

Patch 1.2.2
Hey we did it again. We realized that online scores system would only work for 2015 so we were forced to update the game once again...

So we used it as an excuse to improve a few things. Yay! ːsteammockingː

:health_powerup: We added button tags. We were very surprised that not many people played the FREE TOURNAMENTS. Which is strange we as have very cool prizes and very enjoyable game modes. Maybe people didn't know about them as it didn't say anywhere the word "TOURNAMENT".

:health_powerup: Gameplay: Sectors 2,3, 4 and 5 are more interesting to play. Before they used to be, for some players, stages that they had to go through to get to the real fun game, for expert players they weren't much of a challenge.

:health_powerup: We also made some small tweaks in the power-ups system .

:health_powerup: We updated some vortices' graphics and some really tiny tweaks in player ships.

:health_powerup: RETRO MODE: It has been made more accessible and authentic.
We added the retro mode button in the main menu. Previously it was hidden in options.

Note about this mode:
"Retro mode" in Vortex Attack changes the textures, transitions between stages, removes all modern hints and changes other effects.
It changes the feeling of the game but, in reality, the game-play remains the same as the non-retro. So you can play and score for hi-scores or tournaments.

:levelup_powerup: Beware! We will find a bug somewhere and we will end up upgrading again. Until then.... have happy blasting away all those minions and scoring high! ːsteamhappyː

Final patch to 1.2
We have fixed the latest small problems which include:

- Space-worms that appear in the lower part of the screen are a bit easier to handle now.
- Ships balance.
- Blaxar, has been changed to shot more times, and more powerful but less spread.
- Ships health bug: after collecting a level-up, ship's health was not being upgraded.


1.2 is possibly the latest update. We might update more but we don't think it's worth changing anything else.

Yep that's right, no more updates, the game is near the perfection we wanted. It's fair, fun and very (re) playable.
If there is a massive volume of new users we might update things to add more secrets or achievements to unlock.

So...

Retro Mode


Finish the game (level 50+) and a new option will appear in your options menu.

Extra credits


Every 10 levels after Level 50 you will get an extra credit on every new game.


A final note about this patch


It has everything people have asked for. We are happy with this now. This means that this should be the FINAL update.

But if you think there is room for upgrades please let us know!

Very nice upgrade indeed.

- Translated to JAPANESE!

- Better game performance, older computers can play this game better.

- Retro Mode added. Reach level 51 and you should find it in options from the main menu.

- Benchmark improved but, we are aware that going through the benchmark more than once it will return worst scores.

- Better particles system and graphics: It all looks tidier: now instead of lines we have smoke and fire coming out the vortex. We can display even more particles at lower processing cost.

- Added: Warning to Asteroids field.

- Gamepad rebinder fix.

- Some other small fixes
