It's been a busy few weeks here in the VRange bunker! We've been steadily progressing towards a release of the VRange Horde mode and developing new and exciting features. As we progress, it's important for us to keep the community informed as to the developments as we're progressing, as such we're providing an intel drop.
Current State of Play
VRange is an early access title and as such we thrive on getting the features and developments into the hands of players as soon as possible and to use the feedback generated to shape and mould how the game develops. I'll be the first to say updates have been slow as of late, but rest assured we've been working hard in the background on new and exciting features to VRange.
VRange Horde Mode - Overview
Over the past few weeks we've been steadily pushing towards a release of our new Zombie Horde Mode. Gameplay pits players against growing waves of the unread. Players gather points based on their kill count, and between each round, gain access to the supply drop store where they can purchase weapons and ammunition to aid in their survival.
VRange Horde Mode - Environments
We'll be launching Horde mode with two introductory maps; The Marshland and The Bunker! Each map brings it's own survival challenges and with our recently play testing, each has shown to be brilliant fun! We're looking forward to sharing footage from our upcoming in-studio testing!
VRange CQB Maps and Ranges
We've pushed through a ton of updates for the VRange CQB maps and ranges, with new targets, improvements to add new target movement, increasing the challenge and new sound elements including an appearance from the 'Nitty Gritty Voice over man'! We'll push out a small patch soon to introduce a few of these updates while the bulk will be introduced during the Horde mode update!
VRange - NI Game Awards
Here is Northern Ireland, where VRange is developed, we're approaching the NI Game awards! An award night for the independent game development community here in the Provence. We're planning on making a huge cannon ball splash with Cannon Fire Games running for Studio of the year and VRange running for Game of the Year!
We'd be grateful if you could spare a second of your time to show the team and the game some support for the awards by nominating Cannon Fire Games for Studio of the year and VRange for Game of the Year! Nominations can be submitted here; goo.gl/8u4Zt9
Thank you to everyone that has shown support for the team so far!
VRange Horde Mode - How long will you survive?
BRAINZZZZZZZ * cough* Hey Guys and Gals
Here's hoping you all had a splendid holiday and are looking forward to the new year celebrations! We've had a blast over the holidays and even managed to sneak in a little development work too.
We mentioned in our last update that we were working on VRange Horde mode, a zombie survival game mode for VRange. I'm happy to announce that early in the new year we'll be launching out first map, feature new survival game play mechanics and a competitive time board. How long will you survive when facing the hordes of Undead.
Survival Gameplay
VRange Horde mode pits players against a never ending army of undead. How long will you last? Players need scavenge their tools of survival, weapons, ammo and health are littered around the map, oh and did we mention the un-ending army of living dead creatures?
New weapon types
Not only will players have access to the armory of VRange weapons, we're also adding in a whole new range of weapon types. Running short of ammo?Crack skulls with the brand new melee weapons!
Dice, Smash and Crush the undead
As with all things VRange, we love a good exploding target! The VRange undead are no different, now features fully dynamic destruction. Literally blow chunks off the undead. Zombies will react in a shower of blood, guts and limbs.
We'll keep working hard on this brand new update, as well as forthcoming updates to the armory, range updates and new environments. We wish you all a pleasant New Years celebration!
VRange: Weekly Update 9/10/2018
Hi Everyone and Happy Christmas!
We've been quietly pushing away at some major content updates coming soon to VRange and as such, it's time to share a little on what we've been working on!
Weapon Customization!
We've made a ton of progress towards weapon customization lately. In the coming updates, players will have access to a new weapon spawning platform that allows players to customize different weapon platforms before deploying to the ranges. Choose everything from scopes, laser sights, grips and silencers to add that tactical edge.
Player Inventory - Tactical Watch
We've made strides with the tactical watch attachment providing players with access to an inventory while traversing the ranges. You'll have the ability to add weapons, ammo and other items to your inventory, this will come in handy with later updates.
Horde Mode
Every good VR game needs a horror mode! We're developing a zombies horde mode to company your target practice on the ranges. Players will pit themselves against growing hordes of mutant zombies as they scavenge the environment for weapons and ammo. You'll have the trademark VRange destruction with extreme gore! You can tear zombies limb from limb and explode them in a shower of blood and guts. Players will also feature their survival times on the VRange online leaderboards!
VRange Discord
As always we want tomremind the community that the easiest way to get in touch with the development team is via the VRange discord! You can connect with other players and chat with the dev team in person about any thoughts and feedback you have!
We're approaching VRange update 1.4 in the next few days. As such, we thought we'd provide a little insight into the new features we're working on!
Weapon Customization
With Version 1.4 we've been experimenting with weapon customization. In Version 1.3, VRange provides weapon versions with predefined attachments. While this worked fine for development purposes, as we move forward we're going to open new doors with weapon and load-out customization for players.
Pick your weapon, add your attachments, take down your targets! It's an early work in progress, but by completion we're hoping to have every weapon with customizable attachments, everything from scopes, grips, silencers and bi-pods!
Design you own weapon competition!
We've got tons of new content ready to pour into VRange, with new weapons, attachments, range environments and CQB courses all on the way! Something we've been toying with lately is pushing a weapon design competition!
The competition will come with some sweet prizes on top of having your weapon design in the game, and your name in the credits!
We're still ironing out the details at the minute but it's something we're passionate about getting out and getting the community more involved with the game! We'd love to hear your thoughts!
Join the Community Discord!
While VRange is an early access title, it's incredibly important to us to meet and discuss feedback, issues and ideas from the community! We've got our official discord server for all things VRange!
Pop along and meet the dev's, we're an open duo and love a good chat! Meet other players from the leader boards and discuss range tactics. Share your feedback with he community and leave us some constructive criticism.
In today's update we've patched up a lot of reported issues as well as adding in the first GunGame addition! As always the feedback is always welcome and we're incredibly grateful for everything everyone has reported.

VRange Update 1.2 Patch Notes
Hi Folks! Time again to update the community on today's patch notes! We've taken on board a lot of the feedback we've been receiving lately. As an Early access title, we're working every day to listen to your feedback and develop further upon your suggestions, ideas and thoughts.
In light of recent feedback, we've worked to address some of the bigger concerns players were facing when adopting VRange for the first time.
-- VRange 1.2 Change list --
New Players: In light of feedback, we’ve added a small tutorial/demonstration area in the main menu environment. This details the basic operation of the weapons systems, and gives players the ability to get their hands dirty.
Gameplay: We've heard your feedback, and the base CQB courses and ranges will now benefit from more dynamic targets. They pop up, the jump out, they move around! Just a start for now, but we have noticed a significant increase in difficulty reaching those higher spots on the scoreboard now!
Gameplay: We've pushed up GunGames on the development list, players wanted more content, we're obliged to provide. We've got a series of new game modes coming soon in an update or two, more information soon!
Weapon Spawning: An oversight with the weapon spawn screen saw that players were unable to spawn ammo for weapons without spawning a new weapon. This has been addressed now and individual ammo options are available next to each weapon slot.
HTC Vive comfort support: VRange was initially developed for the oculus rift platform, however we're working hard to improve the comfort support for players with HTC Vive hardware. This involves working with players to design new control schemes that work better on different hardware. More updates on this soon.

That's all the major talking points for today. Thank you to everyone for the feedback and constructive reviews, please do keep them coming.

VRange Update 1.1 Patch Notes
Hi Folks! We've just punched out version 1.1 for VRange, addressing some of the bugs we've had reported. I've documented several of the known bugs below being addressed by this patch!
-- VRange 1.1 Change list --
Hand orientation: Updated a bug that was causing incorrect hand rotation on HTC Vive platforms. Drivers were conflicting with Steam VR drivers and causing off-hand orientation to be wrong. We'll continue to monitor this for issue with hardware setups.
Weapon Spawning: Weapons were spawning with magazines that could not be ejected and unlimited ammo. We've addressed by removing the unlimited ammo issue. Updates will continue to improve weapons as development continues. An inventory and ammo carrying system is in the works.
Projectile impacts: We've had a few issues pointed out surrounding weapon impacts and their effects on the environment. We're addressing issues as we progress but all main issues have been resolved so far.
Navigation: We've had reports of navigation issues, these are being stamped out game-wide, bear with us as we progress through each level.

That's just a small some of the main bugs we've been working on today. Bug fixing and further development will continue in full swing. Thanks to everyone who has provided feedback thus far.
