I finally found some time to fix the remaining bugs you guys highlighted.
Specifically:
Fixed a bug that consumed more kittens than one
Fixed a bug with the "Gold Digger", "Explorer", "Collector", "Mycophile" Steam Achievements
Fixed spelling errors

I just released a quality of life update with all the features you guys and gals requested!

First patch!
Hi everyone,
I just uploaded a small patch to fix the "I choose whatever characters I want, I don't care if they're locked" bug found by KevGuuey (thanks for the heads up man!) in his video.
More specifically:
- Fixed being able to select locked characters under certain conditions.
If you saved the game with an "illegal" mushroom in the party: patch the game, go to the status screen (mushroom button in the worldmap), deselect the mushroom(s) that should not be in your party (the locked ones) and select three of the unlocked ones.
- Fixed being able to go to the main menu while in a dialogue.
