New Track! Wailing Height's Indie band - The Aos Sí - album for Pre-order
James Downey and the Aos Sí, who you will recognise as the singing voices of Leg End and Ada Z and the Zom Bs, have put their own indie album up for pre-order on iTunes, Amazon UK and Bandcamp.
Thanks to popular demand, they're also going to let us add their new recording of Dancing Through Eden, the song played outside the Cremetary, to our soundtrack DLC as a free update!
I've heard the album and it's pretty amazing. The DLC will be updated sometime after their release on Sep 1, but you can listen to a preview of Dancing Through Eden on their Amazon page.
Nominee for Best Script at the Zebbie Awards!
Congratulations to Kevin Beimers on being nominated for Best Game Script by the Writer's Guild of Ireland for his work on Wailing Heights!
We didn't win the overall prize, that honour went to Little Acre (another great adventure game you should check out), but a great night was had by all.
To celebrate, we're thinking of formatting and releasing Kevin's original Wailing Height's script as DLC, alongside our long-awaited game update (coming very soon!)
Anyone interested in reading the original script to see how the whole story came together?
Good News, Not So Good News
Well, the Good News, is that we got our hands on the final remastered audio files a week or so back, and they are sounding great.
The Not So Good News, is that while updating the game and SDK, the compatibility of the lighting system broke, and everything in the game is very, very shiny.
The other Good News, is that we've almost fixed the lighting, and although it's taken us a little longer than expected, the remastered update shouldn't be too far away.
Bear with us just a tiny bit longer and your ears and eyes will thank us!
St. Patrick's Day Irish Game Sale!
In honour of St. Patrick’s Day, Wailing Heights and many other Irish titles are on sale throughout the week!
You may have guessed from our accents that Wailing Heights is one of a growing list of games that is being produced across the island of Ireland. If you haven't yet, I'd recommend checking out these Steam games:
For the full list of cross-platform titles, links and discounts, check out imirt.ie blog post.
Have a good 'un and please help share the Irish gamedev spotlight if you can.
AGGIE awards, Upcoming Update!
I know we've been quiet of late, but we've been very noisy behind the scenes prepping our audio remaster. 95% of the files have been reenginered, and we just to need to record a few missing files in order to set the update live. Shouldn't be too long!
In other news, Adventure Gamers placed us Runner Up in their 2016 Aggie awards for Best Gameplay and Best Music, and we placed as a finalist in the first NI Game of the Year awards.
The NI grand prize went to Her Majesty's Spiffing, which is an adventure game from our chums at Billy Goat that I highly recommend while you're waiting to play the remastered Wailing Heights again.
In other news, development is going well on our new project Jennifer Wilde, and I'm sure we'll be teasing a few new images from that soon, so stay tuned!
Wailing Heights shortlisted for TIGA Visual Design Award
Today is off to a good start with the announcement that Wailing Heights has been short-listed for a TIGA award in the Visual Design award
http://tiga.org/awards/2016-categories
We're enthusiastic to be nominated in the same shortlist as a few AAA games, such as Uncharted 4(!), with a couple of gorgeous indies in the mix too.
I indefinably have a few more games to check out now...
NEW GAME: Jennifer Wilde
We've announced a new game, Jennifer Wilde - adapting the best-selling comic starring the ghost of Oscar Wilde!
We're using an updated version of the Wailing Heights engine, so the Point & Click adventure will have a familiar look and feel.
We haven't left Wailing Heights behind. We're working on further optimisation, and an audio remaster, so check back again soon for an estimated release date!
Steam Trading Cards Added
We've added a set of Steam Trading cards to Wailing Heights, along with unlockable backgrounds, emoticons and badges.
After Steam's 2 hour minimum playtime, cards should drop every 10 minutes, so have fun collecting!
We should have another update to the build in the not-too-distant future, and if anyone can help spread the word in the meantime, it would be much appreciated!
Cover Song Contest Entries
Here are the entries for our Cover Song Contest. Let us know which is your favourite!
We had a few requests at the end of last week to extend the cover song contest, and we've obliged with a final deadline of this Friday 20th May.
Remember, all you need to do is record a video of yourself covering any song from the game, post it on Youtube, and show it to us on Twitter/Facebook/Community Hub.
