It's an adventure game that follow in the footsteps of Wandersong! You play as a dog in a Zelda-like adventure where you can draw and paint on anything. :) It features an OST by our friend Lena Raine, a composer whose work you may know from Celeste! We think you're gonna love it!
We've released a new build that should resolve the crashing users were seeing before! We tested it on a Mojave operating system and found that it worked great, so hopefully users who were having those issues will see an improvement as well!
We did notice that Mojave has a number of new security features that interfered with the game a lot--running it through Steam circumnavigates a lot of the issues, but we wonder if that could be a cause for some users' experience. If you're still having issues, trying going into System Preferences > Accessibility > Privacy and add Wandersong to the list of apps which can "control your computer." This security feature is triggered by the fact that the game resets the mouse position when you're singing to keep your cursor in the game window (just like a first person shooter might).
Hopefully this helps! Thank you everyone for your support :)
Mac Players, An Update on Current Issues!
Hello Mac players!
We're aware right now of two uncommon issues some players are facing. It sounds like some users on the Mojave OS are seeing a black screen, and for some players, the game crashes in the Act 4 factory. We're sorry about this!
For the crash issue, there's a quick way to remedy it. Right click the game in your Steam library > Properties > BETAs tab > select "old-reliable" from the dropdown! This older version has some visual issues but no crashing. Once you're in Act 5, you can return to the original branch.
We've been aware of these issues for a time, but our own Mac we were using to test didn't have these issues. As of this year, thanks to the modest success of Wandersong, I decided to get a new Mac computer (the old one was a Macbook from 2009). I'm working on setting up the new machine and will hopefully be able to test and update the game soon to fix these issues for everyone. Some of it might be an engine-level issue with Game Maker, though, which means it could take some extra time to figure out since that would be out of my hands.
Mac users represent around 0.2% of all Wandersong players, but we really want you to have a good experience and I'm sorry for the issues that some of you have experienced. We'll post if and when we have an update!
Achievements Fixed!
Sorry to everyone who was impacted by that. Once you take the latest patch and run the game, you'll earn all of your Steam achievements--no need to go back or replay anything.
Also, hello to all of our new players coming from the Humble monthly! We're *humbled* (hehehe) by all your positive reviews and comments--usually going into a big bundle like this means a lot more thumbs down. =)
Thank you all for playing and sharing!
Mac Players, Check the BETA branch!
Hello Mac users!
As you may know, since launch we've been struggling some rendering/shader issues on Mac (making the bard turn black on some screens). These stem from engine issues in Game Maker Studio 2, and we've been working with Yoyogames since before our release to get a perfectly stable version out to players.
We got an update from Yoyogames recently saying that they had a new engine version that corrected our issues. We ran a new build off of it, and found that those issues were fixed, but in their place were new, worse issues that made the game virtually unplayable for us. :(
But we've been assured that the new version works flawlessly for them, so it's possible that we're experiencing a rare issue that won't hold for most users. It's hard for us to know, and that's why we've decided to put the build on Steam and open it to everyone to test!
To access it, right click the game in your library, go to PROPERTIES, then the BETAS tab, then select "beta" from the dropdown menu. Even if the game worked for you before, we'd appreciate it if you tested this. Let us know whether or not the beta build works for you! This will help us figure out our next steps to get a perfectly working build out to every Mac user.
If you love Wandersong and want to help us get a neato award, VOTE FOR US HERE! :) The competition is fierce and our chances aren't great, but your support always means the world to us.
Thanks! <3
Speedrun & Stability Update!
Hi all!
First of all, I want to congratulate our dedicated Wandersong speedrunners, who recently discovered some hidden features we had and the alternate "bad" ending. Well done!! We were worried they would be secret forever.
Following that discovery, we've made one new additional skip available today to bring the speedrun time even lower. Nice!
Additionally, this new build contains new features to help stabilize the game at different framerates + monitor refresh rates, which is our most common complaint. Users across the board should see a much more stable experience. Double nice!!
Finally, this new build also has expanded capability for language translation modding. Triple nice!!! With this, players helping with our ongoing fan translation project will be able to test their modded text more easily in-game, and eventually distribute their translations. Woo! Details on how to implement translations will be aded to the spreadsheet soon.
Thanks again to everyone for your continued love and support!
Greg
Enter your info there! We're looking to open up translation to be a collaborative effort, rather than expecting people to do it on their lonesome. After all... anything is possible with teamwork!!!
Wandersong is an IGF finalist!
Yahoo! Wandersong is a finalist in the narrative category at the IGF, with honorable mentions in audio, art, and even grand prize!!! :O
Hi, quick update! I messed something up when I last updated the game and left the Mac build empty, so Mac users were missing the game for a couple days (oops) :(
It should be back online now! Sorry to anyone who was impacted by that!
