Decal for French Air Force Day

France was one of the first countries to use aviation in combat: by the beginning of World War I it had 15 airships and almost 150 aircraft. Still, they were a part of the army until the French Air Force became independent on July 2nd, 1934. Today the French Air and Space Force employ over 40,000 people, and their main combat aircraft are the Mirage 2000 and Rafale.

From July 3rd (10:00 GMT) until July 6th (10:00 GMT)

Play 3 battles using French aircraft (rank III or higher, with an activity of not less than 70%) to receive the “French Air Force Day” decal.

Complete the task in random battles, except for Enduring Confrontation missions and [Assault] mode. Track your progress in the hangar by clicking Nickname → Achievements → Holidays → French Air Force Day.

RAWR

Uniting players from REDA, OlySt and Nasty, RAWR became a truly global team, its members hail from Europe, Australia, and Latin America. REDA was born through the combination of several older tournament teams, captained by Bubensito159 from Peru. From that moment began a story of love, suffering, pain and (hopefully) glory. They believe in their potential to finish in the top 3 places, good luck to them!

MRCLS

‘Miracles’ were created in 2020 and consists of players from the CIS. Founded historically by former Akai Victory players, a team who some of you may remember from the Thunder League, today, their roster has changed and its current iteration is less than a year old! Captaining MRCLS is v1nny from Ukraine who believes they have a great chance to win the tournament if they can overcome DODEC!

KAPER

Originally founded as a Squadron Battles team, KAPER have now turned their attention to the tournament scene. Captained by Nefo from Russia, the team is also made up of players from the CIS, it is also their first time competing in a major tournament! They hope to impress as the newcomers with good tactics, are afraid of nobody and believe they will place in the top 5 teams!

Let’sGo

Another relatively new team, Let’sGo features some talented players from all over Europe and an origin in Slovakia. With numerous wins in the smaller 1v1 or 2v2 formats they are yet to achieve success in 5v5! Captained by kiGAOko they are aiming for a minimum 4th place finish. If they avoid MRCLS who knows, could they pull off a surprise? We’ll wait for the weekend, good luck!

LEDAC

From France, LEDAC have competed in tournaments in various formats since 2017! Composed solely of French players they believe this gives them a better chance to co-ordinate their gameplan. The captain, Amau has a good understanding of the nations lineups and was very coy when asked where they could possibly place in the tournament! Although they have no direct rivals, they would like to beat Let’sGo.

LEET

The team has a long history. LEET or “Elite” as they are better known, fight for the honour of winning the most prestigious tournament since 2019. Their history is not without success, winning the Victory CUP in 2021 amongst others. The players of LEET team are from Russia and Belarus, captained by Doomheart. They respect all opponents and they hope to finish in a strong position.

Kompans

Hailing largely from Poland, Kompans players are the amalgamation of many formerly successful tournament teams. Former Verve and Dynamight players commanded by KrawsKeren they are aiming for a strong finish in the top positions.The KMPNS's finest hour was in 2021 with a series of crushing victories, and they are making a comeback at this tournament.

DODEC

Formerly the prolific ENP team, today DODEC consists of many experienced players. Captained by Forze from Ukraine they still consider themselves in contention for the top places. With players from both Russia and Ukraine, can they overcome rivals MRCLS to claim another victory?

Decal for Canada Day

On July 1st, 1867, the British North America Act united various provinces in a single Dominion of Canada. However, for the first 100 years the Canadians didn’t celebrate this date: it became more prominent the more independence Canada gained from the United Kingdom. Today it is a grand national holiday with parades, carnivals, and concerts.

Three Different Vehicles and a Decal for The JSDF Day

On July 1st, 1954 the Japan Self-Defense Forces were founded — the new armed forces that were to replace the Imperial Army and Navy that lost in WWII. Today the JSDF employs almost 250 thousand people, and, besides defending Japan, they often participate in peacekeeping and rescue operations around the world.

J2M4 Kai, IJN Kiyoshimo, and Type 74 (G) for Golden Eagles

IJN Kiyoshimo

J2M4 Kai Raiden is one of the most agile Japanese fighters of World War II era, with great climbing speed and strong armament, perfect for Boom and Zoom attacks. Fast, maneuverable and quite sturdy destroyer IJN Kiyoshimo is equipped with deadly torpedoes and 127 mm main calibre guns with great ballistics that reload really quickly and often make it the victor of naval duels. Finally, the Type 74 (G) is the final and most advanced modification of the main battle tank of the JSDF; it is outfitted with a thermal imager and a powerful laser rangefinder, and its APFSDS shells are one of the best on its rank!

Update 2.27.0.64

Aircraft

  • The map rotation has been revised to achieve a more interesting and intense battle. Details.
  • A default set of countermeasures is now available immediately after researching an aircraft.
  • A bug that might cause ‘visual effects’ to hover in the air in battles has been fixed.

Ground vehicles

  • Ability to field repair vehicles with penalties previously used in AB and RB has been added to SB.
  • Penalty for modules repaired with field repair without a repair kit has been reduced in AB and RB:

    • Gun spread multiplier has been changed from х15 to х5;
    • Guidance angles have been changed from 3 to 6 degrees;
    • Transmission losses have been changed from 50% to 25%;
    • Engine power reduction has been changed from 60% to 40%.

  • The crew of a ground vehicle is now able to extinguish a fire once per battle. Research of the advanced FPE will speed up the extinguishing process and allow you to extinguish the vehicle a second time.

Naval

  • A crew in a naval vessel without any modifications can now put out fires, repair modules, patch holes and pump out water. Researching the appropriate modifications will speed up these processes.

The current provided changelog reflects the major changes within the game as part of this Update. Some updates, additions and fixes may not be listed in the provided notes. War Thunder is constantly improving and specific fixes may be implemented without the client being updated.

Following the Roadmap: maps for aircraft, flares and repair

We continue to let you know about the improvements we are implementing based on the War Thunder updates roadmap. Today, we are going to talk about improving the map rotation for air battles as well as increasing the availability of flares and the ability to extinguish fires and repair vehicles.

Flares from the start

An important point that we mentioned in our roadmap - increasing the availability of a number of mechanics. In the case of aircraft, countermeasures, and in the case of armoured vehicles and naval vessels, it is about repairing and extinguishing fires. The changes are already in the game: the default set of countermeasures is now available immediately after vehicle research and you no longer need to additionally unlock it!

When researching the “Flares/chaff” modification (or similar) you will unlock options such as “Chaff only”, “Flares reinforced” and “Flare priority”. Additional countermeasure kits such as BOL-type systems, additional containers with Chaff or additional countermeasures kits on the Mirage 2000 and Kurnass 2000 still require separate modifications to be researched.

Advanced FPE and repair kit

FPE for ground vehicles is divided into a regular, single extinguishment, which is available without unlocking any modification, and advanced, which requires modification research, which once unlocked, adds the possibility of double extinguishment.

Repair kits for ground vehicles are also divided into normal and advanced. Normal, available without unlocking a modification, enables you to perform field repairs on all modules up to partial functionality. Penalties to vehicle characteristics after repair of modules with field repair in AB and RB are changed as follows:

  • Gun spread multiplier has been changed from х15 to х5;
  • Guidance angles have been changed from 3 to 6 degrees;
  • Transmission losses have been changed from 50% to 25%;
  • Engine power reduction has been changed from 60% to 40%.

Once the advanced repair kit has been researched, this will speed up the repair process and allow you to make repairs without penalties to module functionality.

In naval battles, even vessels without upgrades now have all the tools for firefighting, module repair, breach repair and pumping water - their “field repair” is now replaced with battle for survivability. Without the researched modification, you will be able to conduct it in the former way. You can manually start each process with the buttons of firefighting, repair and water pumping. The crew of a new ship that just came into service will take longer to do this than an experienced trained crew, but even the normal firefighting system has no limit on the number of uses.

The crew can be trained in damage control and effective firefighting with the help of modifications. They are located in the place of the former tools and FPE. There is no need to upgrade them again: players who have previously researched these modifications already have them unlocked.

Improved map rotations for aircraft

We want battles to be as interesting and intense as possible and therefore based on our statistics and your feedback, we have revised the availability of a number of missions depending on the BR of the vehicles participating in the battle. Generally, smaller maps will now be available at low BR and larger maps at higher BR. Some missions, those that most often have fallen into the ban list of the players, have been completely removed from the rotation. Some of these changes have already been implemented in the major “La Royale” update and some we have just added.

Removed from the rotation:
[Air Battle] France 1944
[Operation] Husky
[Operation] The Last Battle of Khalkhyn Gol

Only available up to BR 2.0:
[Operation] Middle East
[Operation] Cochinchina
[Operation] Battle for Vietnam

Only available on BR from 2.3 to 5.0:
[Operation] Laizhou bay
[Operation] Battle of Spain

Only available on BR from 2.3 to 6.7:
[Front Line] Kursk

Only available on BR from 4.0:
[Operation] Pyrenees
[Operation] Bourbon Island
[Operation] Malta
[Operation] Peleliu
[Event] Attack on Wake Island
[Operation] Midway

Only available on BR from 5.7:
[Operation] Battle at Malta

We also introduced the display of a mission’s BR in the window of the preferred missions - now you can ignore maps that you don’t get rated within when compiling your list.

Despite the fact that we have added a display of the BR in the maps filter, the distribution of bans, likes and dislikes has not changed much, and many players ban those maps that are not usually played. Please update your filters to reflect the selection of maps you do and don’t want to see. Please also continue to let us know what you think about the selection of maps for those or other vehicle ranks in this special thread on the forum so that we can adjust it further.

We are continuing to make progress on the War Thunder development roadmap and we hope you will be pleased with these changes. Share your opinion in the comments, social media, on Steam or on the official forum!
