The Black Templars have arrived! They will be available for 10,000 RTC and applicable to all classes. You can use this Successor Chapter by playing an Imperial Fist and selecting them through the customization.
Flesh Tearers have been updated and are now applicable to Assault and Devastator classes. To apply this Successor Chapter a Blood Angel character is required.

- Map Description for Canyon Wasteyard and Prometium Mine updated.
- Fixed Vault issue on Canyon Wasteyard.
- Reworked contested B spawn on Canyon Wasteyard.

Game update in the making, and remember customer support!
The current game update in the making, which you can participate in and give feedback on in the UAT testing group playing with developers, is now on the deployment horizon. We still haven't determined exactly which of the things that are still in progress we want to include in this game update, which is the main factor to determine a launch window.
Game Update Highlights
These are the areas in which we're working, so the extent of content within those areas as mentioned above, remains to be determined.
New map
We wanted to get a new map out to you. All details and its progress come through UAT.
New Cosmetics
We have a number of new cosmetic items we're working on, and what will be in the game update is simply determined by the timing of our deployment. We're constantly doing new items, so it doesn't stop deployment.
Banners and Squads Revisited
We're working on some changes to banners and squads, and while they aren't finalized yet, some of the changes are on UAT already.
Combat Balance based on recent changes and feedback
We continue to work on combat balance and take feedback from the latest changes and introduce new ones.
We're also still looking into the roll exploit, and think we have a solution for it. If you see people repeatedly exploiting this, report them to customer support under harassment. One thing is that it happens occasionally. Intentionally and repeatedly abusing something is entirely different, and you will be banned if someone reports you.
This also applies to harassment which has increased, and happy to report that I'm lowering the tolerance limit for such behavior. We have no problems permanently banning people that are toxic to our other customers that want to enjoy playing the game. So please help us out and report these people through customer support.
So keep that in mind, harassing our customers is not acceptable in any form or way. We can move to zero tolerance where you're not getting any form of warnings or temporary bans, but straight out permanent ban and even a VAC ban on your record, but we'd rather not do so.

Now we go back to work for the greater good of chaos.
Game Update and Chaos 1v1 Tournament!
We had a minor game update, primarily to remove the unused Red Shell files but also balancing and visual updates. Red Shell was in many of our titles but as we never started a paid ad campaign for Eternal Crusade, Red Shell was never used and has now been properly removed.
The community also has a 1v1 tournament, there have been 5v5 tournaments and we have been trying to support better these initiatives with rewards and even considering special items!
Hotfix 1.8.12 Notes
Red Shell completely removed!
Purchasable Character slots have been increased to 10! 14 total character slots now available.
Weapon / Gear Icons revamped globally to better reflect the actual look of the weapons since in a lot of cases they simply were wrong.
Autarch color will be set based on their Craftworld
Fixed wrong color when equipping Ashen Sky Shrine with Wargear 1 and 2 and Ancestral Torsos for Swooping Hawks
Strong Seal of Forging will appear the correct color on character models
The i symbol on helmets has been removed
Heat Per Shot slightly increased on Standard Autocannons.
LP Costs normalized on many weapons:
- Hysterical Frenzy from 200 to 150
- Mace of Punishment from 480 to 470
- Iron Bane from 480 to 470
- Teeth of Khrone increased from 450 to 480
- Abbadons Grace increased from 600 to 650 to reflect the Ablaze Ailment bonus
- Voice of the Emperor from 480 to 470
- Sternguard Bolter from 400 to 380
- Heart Piercer from 400 to 380
- Cool down on Blight grenade set to 30s
Chaos 1 v 1 Tournament
The eyes of the Gods are upon us!
Pleased by our successes, the Ruinous Powers now ask that we measure our might between us. The Dark Gods have spoken, and we shall obey. We shall organize a Great Chaos Melee Tournament.
Bring glory to your chosen god, or your legion, or to chaos itself. Prove your skills under the gaze of our lords!
For Chaos! http://forum.eternalcrusade.com/threads/chaos-melee-tournament.70969/
Official forums, various discords, wiki, customer support and events
Remember to check out our website for further information, events, access customer support, wiki, discords and other community-driven activities.
And remember to report harassment with customer support!.
We can only apply permanent bans, VAC bans etc. if you go through them.
While I do hang out on Discord, forums and such occasionally, as well as other devs, please accept my apologies for no answers of PMs. These are not routes for customer support or any such, only our customer support team handles these cases. This is to ensure all matters are handled through them, and not developers.
See you on the battleground if we're not too busy making the next game update, and thank you all for your continued support. You stick around, we stick around.
Your friendly sticky Nurgle developers
Game Update in the making! Fantastic Skulls weekend!
After the game update during the fantastic Skulls for the Skull Throne promotion on Steam, where we got a lot of new players, we went straight to work on the next game update.
An important goal of big promotions for us is to get more people playing at the same time. This is because we don't have a marketing budget, the revenue goes directly into development and operations of Eternal Crusade. A promotion is less revenue, but more blood for the blood god.
We'd like to thank you all
New and old, those that mention us and get new players in, those that welcome new players, those that stick with us through thick and thin, those that still believe in the potential of the eternal crusade.
You were all fantastic during the Skulls promotion, it helped us a lot.
Game Update in the making
We have some ideas we're looking at to encourage people to play other factions coming up, which helps the matchmaker, as well as focusing people to play during certain periods.
Campaigns is an obvious tool there of course, but we have some other ideas. Helping the matchmaker means less queue times and more people playing at the same time. SM are kind of their own curse here as there simply aren't opponents enough, so when this comes in, I will blissfully ignore any crying over getting less rewards than the other factions. You'll get more matches, which is more XP and rewards, less wait, which is all good.
On top of that, the upcoming game update highlights are on these areas. No details yet, the only way to find out at this point is to participate in the process on the UAT public test server, and give feedback.
Item Loadout Point Costs and Stats Revisited
We've revisited LP cost of items and adjusted stats, which is still a work in progress. This is part of our polish round as well on the loadouts. Jump in to get your feedback and affect changes!
New Visual Customization items
Mo'bling is always needed. It's sprinkled over all factions, as we're looking at our library of things we haven't used. So no it won't be favoritism, if your faction doesn't get as much as the other one. We're just getting the stuff out! Besides, you should always be happy for your fellow for getting bling.
Combat Balance based on recent changes and feedback
We continue to work on combat balance and take feedback from the latest changes, and introduce new ones.
General Loadout items and Visual Customization polish
This is everything from working on icons to help out differentiating them, to new items, stat changes and such. The small stuff - part of the bigger changes above.
Repeated Campaigns with more encouragement for less played factions
We're going to be trying out smaller campaigns that repeat with larger rewards for underplayed factions. This helps the matchmaker greatly, as often the problem is too many SM players during low hours.
More support for tournaments and focused playtimes, including rewards
While mainly looking at how we can better support the tournaments that have emerged, their rewards and such, this is also part of focusing online players into certain regular timeslots. And of course, bragging rights.
Yes, our Workshop is still en route, more tests in the next weeks
There is no "when is the update coming" - this is a general notification that we are working on it, what areas is the focus, and how you can affect it yourself.
Customer Support, help and harassment
If you need any help at all, even just bought something wrong, or now a Hero is in a DLC and you had also bought it, check out our customer support. They are always happy to help.
As always, the policy is, you get the RTC back, and if it's an item you bought before and haven't received, you get the RTC and the item when it's introduced. This is important in relation to changes to DLCs.
If someone is griefing, harassing you, or simply being obnoxious and should not be part of our community, this is also what customer support is for. They are the only ones that deal out long term and permanent bans, including VAC bans.
Yes, getting permanently banned on the forums or any of our official channels, will get you permanently banned in the game, if you fail to follow the terms of service and EULA. Those of us left, especially the players, prefer clean headshots from you rather than impotent venom and toxicity.
We keep this separation of Church and Imperium so that it's clear, you can contact them about anything, and they have records what has happened to your account before, we have tons of data, chat logs, anti-cheat, and even if serious enough, we contact Steam for cross-connecting accounts. Steam doesn't like fake accounts used for abuse.

Your friendly neighborhood demons
Game Update 1.8.0 is out!
This update brings new maps, items, updates, and balancing! This bumps us a minor version to 1.8.0 or as we codenamed it; "Battlemallet 18000".
This map is an uphill battle leading to a fortress at the top of a hill as the final point. Attackers need to make use of various flank routes in a coordinated manner in order to capture points, while defenders must be strategically placed in order to stop them.
<*>
New Supremacy map Pegasus Station Recovered
The Pegasus Station was left abandoned after a hyper explosion of a near star, the climate and weather changed drastically. Once the storm calmed down, the Imperium came back and recovered the station for strategic advantage over the Xenos.
<*>
12 New Weapons
4 new weapons with Unique abilities at 200,000 Requisition, and 8 skins for RTC. You can click the link to the full patch notes for details of course ;)
<*>
Balancing
This includes parts of our ongoing work on balancing, but predominantly based on our forum threads on balancing, testing on UAT and player feedback so that you scream longer, till you die. Instant death isn't so much fun or epic. They have a quake mod for that. Balancing includes:
- Tweaks on the Boltguns and their attachments
- Smart Pistols (all factions) spread increased
- Smart Pistols (SM/CSM) recoil and spread tweaked to reduce headshot occurrence
- Ork Skip Launcha buff
- Meltabombs and Meltabomb bundle damage reduced
- Eldar vehicles’ health increased
- Veterans are now immune to one shot and are not affected by the Critical State anymore.
- Poison resistance have been made consistent for all Veterans and Heroes
- Lash of Slaanesh tweaked
- Blight grenade’s blast radius increased
- Autarch’s toughness increased
<*>
Bug Fixes
There were a few, including:
- Necrotic Chainsword now locked to Mark of Nurgle
- Increased Reload speed on the Twin Linked Shuriken Catapult
- Eldar Shuriken Pistols slightly buffed
- Increased Poison Ailment on Stream of Corruption
- Global collision fixes on several maps to prevent vehicle exploits
- Medusa: added a railing on point C outdoor balconny
- Art and Collision fixes on Medusa, Torias and Zedek
- Updated the Trim color of the Space Marine 9th Company Shoulder Pads
Forthcoming
This patch does include more things that are disabled on the server, such as a new series of campaigns that launch later while being in the final process.
We will also pull Promethium Mine from rotation as to do some small upgrades and fixes, more map re-work where we put other game modes and cut up maps. There are huge parts of the maps you've never seen before.
We will also look at feedback and game data of the balancing to decide the next steps, along with more items and specific changes like in this update.
Do you want to know more? Do you want to join?
Head over to the official forum threads, play with us on our public test server that has scheduled playtests.
The kill-a-dev achievement should still be working there ;)
Thanks from your friendly Arkhona janitors for the continued support!
A game update in the making, check out the public test server
I'm quite excited seeing our small team putting together this update, so I wanted to share some tidbits, and recap on the state of the crusade. This is our development team right now.
Yes, we've been working on a game update since the new year!
We're small, so we take a little more time, but we're still working.
Yes, our Workshop is still en route
I managed to grab time from our Art Director for the documentation, and requirements to our complex customization system.
Combat balancing
Some people say, this route will ruin the game, other call him, the Stig.
Yes, new campaign series
The team working on campaigns have come up with some great ideas besides simply new ones. We have to patch to get them out but they are getting ready.
Yes, new and modified maps
If you follow the public test server and the official forum threads on public testing, chances are you've encountered them. We're also playing around with some of the ideas we've mentioned before, I stickied an example in the forums, where you can vote.
Our partners and Games Workshop have scheduled promotions.
We'll have our discounts and special promotions with our partners, where you can get friends and yourself good stuff at massive reductions. All for the greater good of more blood.
I, of course, can't tell you when or where this is happening but like in the movie, "there will be bloody discounts".
The game update progress
We should have this ready within the month, depending on our process, public testing, and the general schedule of some promotions.
Much of it is already in public testing but here is a brief overview, where I try to avoid spoilers. However, if you are active in our public testing, you know this already.
That's because we've been changing how we work with a smaller team, so everything we do and test pretty much ends up on our public test server directly in incomplete states, some of it won't even go out based on feedback.
But I also think this gets people even more involved early in the process of creating a game update. While we are fewer and are all doing more jobs than before, we do read, although our capacity to respond is far less.
So remember, what you see isn't necessarily what you'll get. In fact, chances are it's only the beginning of iterating on ideas we can easily implement. That all being said - this is what's being worked on. What makes it into this patch, remains undetermined.
Note: The Workshop is not part of a patch, nor does anything not mentioned here mean that something isn't coming. We're simply still deciding. And we want a patch out fast.
Maps and modes
Multiple! We're doing new maps that are using our modular system, we have some redos of maps, we have refitting of maps where we put a new game mode, move the captures around or cut them up, and one game mode might make it in.
What mode we try out after this remains to be seen, as we still have the prototypes, and we can fit some of them on current or refitted maps. Don't keep your hopes up, there will be more maps than modes.
Yes, I know battle royale would be great, but we'd have to do our own flavor, and this isn't as simple as it sounds.
Items!
We're well beyond 10 new items right now, probably will be quite a bit more.
Combat balancing
Currently, the overview is vehicle health to be more epic, melta bomb changes, boltguns and their attachments, Veterans immunity to one shot, Poison resistance consistency for Vets/Heroes, Stream of Corruption, Lash of Slaanesh, Blight Grenades and Twin Linked Avenger Shuriken Catapults.
This is not everything.
New campaign series
It's in the process and until then, we have scheduled the continued re-run for bragging rights and RTC. It's also new for the new players, so let's not forget, something for more new blood is a good thing, even though you've seen it 17 times before ;)
Adding heroes to the DLCs and simplifying them
We're very likely to mess around and simplify the DLCs, the prices of DLCs and packages, and what they contain.
Why? We all want fresh blood, and that's required for the long-term survival. We've outlived many games thanks to you, so my main concern is of course how to make it up to you long-term players that bought all the billion variations of packages way back before we even arrived here.
So if you have suggestions on how you'd like to see this, throw it on the official forums. No, not on Steam forums or comments on this post. Our official forums is our official place, where we interact. With less time on our hands, less time is spent reading everything else I'm afraid.
But to start it off, we'll be adding the Hero to the warlord faction DLCs, they might even become the only faction DLCs moving forward, and we'd reduce the prices so the built-in discount is even greater for a new player.
The same could apply to either the current Squadron and Imperium, and maybe a new "Imperium" price would be a lot more.
Note of course, we're still free to play and the workaround link is on our steam page. I think we'll be able to get that fixed this properly this century, give or take.
Let us know your ideas, how to make it up to you that stay with us and enable us to stay alive, and how we can make even more interesting packages for newcomers, which is in all our interest. More dev money for the dev team!
Customer Support, help and harassment

Join us on the public test server
That's it for now, and we'd love to see you during the public test we schedule on the test server. We're looking in to setting up the entire test branch as a separate install now, it's technical setup that prevents us right now from doing it in our pipeline with Steam but we want to do it.
We love you all (mostly) but especially if you read all the way down here!
Team Hereticus
State of the Crusade 2018
Happy new carnage everyone! Who would have thunk that we’d still be alive in this fresh hell of a new year? We’ve gotten the wrath of all the gods deservedly; we’re not happy where we are, you’re not happy where we are.
Yet we don’t give up because of the potential. If you give up, you can be certain you will die.
I joined EVE Online when we were 30,000 players. When I left we were more than 400,000. I believe because I’ve seen the turnaround happen, more than once.
Death is forever, so since we’re dead, we can do what we want
As we return from the holidays and revisit our plans for the year, we can start sharing what’s ongoing. Some of this isn’t new to you, some of it is. Some of it sounds crazy, some insane, some useless.
However, we have UAT – the public test server - as our working development server, so we are going open and wide on testing things earlier, sometimes just “hey this sounds crazy,” and we try it out. Come join us if you want in on the game.
This is because we work with what we have. Some of the things we think of are simple to materialize as we have shelves full of material in various finished states, and our strategy is tools to create content, rather than hardcode content. With tools, you don’t need nearly as much engineering time to materialize even meaningful changes, new maps, even new game modes.
Initiatives this year for the crusade of the ded
We’re still waiting for answers, confirmation, and approvals on some of these, as well as being blocked technically, so this is what our intent is for 2018. They will be covered in more detail as we get closer, and we see that we won’t get bent over by a god in the last meters before launch, ruining plans yet again. There is more, but I figured it would be better to get some of the information out and reveal later.
Steam Workshop
We weren’t clear when we told you we had finally gotten the green light to have a workshop. What wasn’t clear is that it meant we could start the work, preparing it. This is still ongoing, and it will open as soon as I can. I’ve been working for more than a year getting this through all channels, and yet there is always more, some tech, some legal, some just because they can. Join the community Workshop discord channel, I hang out there on occasion, and there is super cool stuff there.
New game modes
We have experimented with game modes, we have some who are working, missing only bits and pieces, as well as the ever wonderful UI changes to display the state of the match. Right now we’re wrapping up our take on 5v5 team deathmatch as this was a low hanging fruit. There is, of course, a king of the hill kind of mode, the ever famous battle royale variants, and mixing up things in our current modes. Good thing with new game modes is they don’t always need a new map. Our system allows for multiple modes to exist on a map.
New maps, variations of maps, and map buffing
We have maps that are in a progressed state we can finish up, we intend to cut up some of our current maps to make variations as they have large areas unused today, and we intend to try to utilize those unused areas in the original maps. Perhaps with capture points which are for other classes?
Scream while dying ™ and other drastic balancing
Screaming after you died in a way not clear to you, in milliseconds, is not fun. Screaming while dying is at least having some fun until you die. This means drastically increasing survivability, which can be done through quite a few ways. It should also result in more epic battles. After all, we’re supposed to be a tactical squad shooter of superhumans and Xenos. So why not try it all out? We can always change back.
Fewer but far more durable vehicles are part of this. A tank rolling in is supposed to be epic. Infantry taking it out is supposed to be epic. Shooting infantry with anti-vehicle weapons is not epic, but being the person shooting the tank with the anti-vehicle will get the cheers.
You can participate in the discussion here on how to achieve it.
http://forum.eternalcrusade.com/threads/in-development-scream-while-dying-tm.70151/
Volunteer Teams
We’re starting volunteer teams. In online games, this is common as a source of feedback. We have some groups already, the latest to open is the Campaign and storyline writers group that just delivered a series of 6 campaigns for each faction, that we will now process. It’s fantastic.
We should start the same formal volunteer groups for the workshop, and for general development on our test server – and probably used discord as we hang out on the informal Eternal Crusade discord, and the workshop. Jump in. Want to be part of leading them? Post on the forum and show that your milkshake brings all the boys to the yard.
Partnerships
When we talk about funding, never having had an ad campaign, our steam reviews suck the genitalia of crossbred quadrupeds, and as it only costs 100 dollars to publish a game on Steam now, our visibility is none.
Publishing and partnerships are where we, after having our rights back from Bandai Namco, can find worldwide partners for co-development and co-publishing, except with worldwide rights. Right now, most are working on their own games and don’t have funds or time to do this, especially after big name launches crashing so hard lately. We’re in talks, and these things take a long time, but it is still active.
Finding a partner, and funds flowing, opens up for reviving our console builds. We had them ready for final certification when their publishing was pushed out. Imagine that. So getting them back could be low hanging fruit for a new partner.
Partners also include “wholesale,” where you have platforms that either has a very special purpose. This can be a Humble Bundle for charity, but it can also be like the Intel gaming bundle partner program. That means Intel partners go in and select in bulk, games to have in a bundle. We’re there, and other similar ones. It also means we’ve added three more digital retailers, where they have our most recent products, and we’ll do special promotions with them.
Epic Games is also a partner. We use their engine, just like PUBG and Fortnite. One day we will be able to update the engine we use, version 4.12 – and get the latest updates. As you may know, these games are quite similar at their core. So when games with more than 10x our revenue and size need stuff getting done, we’re hoping this will end up in the Unreal Engine for the benefit for all.
There is more out there that's still in the starting phase and will become huge. Amazon / Twitch Prime, GOG getting bigger, and we are almost non-existant in huge Warhammer markets. We have the download stats, player stats etc. and it is amazing how many territories and countries don't know about us. Yes, seriously. Only 60,000 downloads from Russian territories? I think there might be a couple of more players over there.
Three years after joining, and here we are, so let's reflect
No, we’re not Planetside 2, no we’re not Skyrim with 1000 player battles, no there isn’t open world maps yet, no it most certainly is not what you signed up for, many years ago. Addressing larger issues on the Top 10 lists, or even gods forbid, getting to start work on the open world gameplay maps hasn’t happened either. Because it’s all about the money.
The money I get, we use to operate and develop. Yes, we have had a lot of changes and moves to sister teams, I'll let them post if they want to. They are still just next to us and we get them assigned for specific projects so it's not all bad. They pay them instead of us! KEK
I’ve seen lately a strong undercurrent in the community that is “what can we do?”. And you’ll end up with something like the Eternal Crusade Clan initiative.
Saturdays from 2 PM to 8 PM EST, the clans are going to focus their playtime to increase online concurrency, allowing for more matches in all factions and generally a good time. I’m going to broadcast this on all our media. There will be enough servers, they always automatically fire up new hardware based on players.
This year is the year of nasty-nice. Bring the criticism, bring the initiatives, help us on the test server deliver the new combat experience of Eternal Crusade, be nice, but stay your nasty selves. Toxicity is not welcome, so let’s all surprise our cold dead hearts this year, with nasty-nice.
If I suddenly disappear after I post this, you will know why.
