We have a surprise for all Sanctus Reach fans today.
It's been a while since the last major update, but the developers from Straylight Studio have not been idle. They have been secretly at work on behalf of the Emperor of Mankind, toiling silently on a secret project... which we are releasing today.
With today's update comes the new Sandbox Campaign mode.
Now you will be able to completely customize and generate new campaigns to your liking, choosing the faction you'd like to lead and setting the parameters you want.
Have you ever wanted to lead a horde of Chaos Daemons, facing the servants of the Imperium? Or maybe you'd like to lead a new massive Waaaagh! and fight a series of battles against, well, anyone who would put up a good fight? Now you can!
You can choose to play as any faction you have unlocked, against any other faction. You can also set the number of battles you'd like to fight, up to a maximum of 20. You can of course set the difficulty level you prefer.
There is also now a new mode known as Ironman mode. When playing a campaign on Ironman mode your units will suffer from permanent death and your forces won't be replenished between missions! Not for the faint of heart, surely.
We believe that this new feature will greatly increase replayability, and we are eager to hear your feedback on it.

Last but not least, we're glad to announce that Chapter Master Valrak will lead the servants of the Imperium against the infernal hordes of Chaos tonight at 7 pm UK time on Twitch and YouTube. Don't miss it!
Horrors of the Warp is being released tomorrow and we know you're excited just as we are!
But before we get to our last Chaos God diary, let's start with an announcement: the humble servant of the Imperium, Chapter Master Valrak himself, is going to face the Daemonic hordes of Chaos live on Twitch tomorrow at 8 pm CEST on his Twitch channel!
Now let's get to our last Chaos entry... who is left, of the big four? Nurgle, of course. The Plague God, the Lord of Decay, good old Grandfather Nurgle!
Plaguebearers
Plaguebearers are the rank and file of Nurgle's legions. These loathsome Lesser Daemons are crafted from the blighted soul-stuff of mortals who have been slain by Nurgle's Rot. A Plaguebearer carries the marks of Nurgle's Rot through eternity. What little of its skin that can be seen beneath the discharge of innumerable sores tinged with suppurant greens and vile browns. In Horrors of the Warp Plaguebearers are melee Infantry unit that has a chance to debuff enemies with every attack, removing actions and movement points. They are exceptionally sturdy, having an incredible amount of hit points, making them tough units to take down. The best unit to tear your enemies down in a battle of attrition.
Poxbringer
Poxbringers project an air of malign authority. They stand taller and broader than the Plaguebearers that surround them, their lumpen heads crowned with magnificent sets of rotting antlers. These daemons are the most common lieutenants of the Great Unclean Ones, who ensure their orders are carried out to the letter. Wielding their baleswords with prodigious strength, Poxbringers hack down the enemy’s champions and sorcerers while unleashing their own unclean spells to corrupt and despoil. In gameplay terms this vile champion of Chaos is capable of buffing other allied units as well as covering itself with its ability Cloud of Flies. Behold the power of Nurgle!
Plague Drone
High-ranking Plaguebearers are known amongst the Daemon legions as Plague Drones, a title that conveys commendable humility. These overseers of Nurgle’s realm ride into realspace mounted upon Rot Flies – colossal daemonic insects whose appearance is so repugnant it scars the mind. This devilish unit can be a tough opponent to defeat as it naturally regenerates its health every turn and can feed upon its enemies to further regain more health. Don't give it a chance to escape or it will fly away and come back at you later!
Chaos Spawn
Not devoted strictly to Nurgle but to all Chaos gods, making them an exception in this diary otherwise dedicated to papa Nurgle.
Mind and will completely dissolved into blankness by the corrupting influence of Chaos, the Chaos Spawn lurch and stagger into battle with twisted limbs flailing. Dangerous and unpredictable, the only process left in their brain is the desire to kill - and they do so with a disturbing strength, lashing out at a horrified foe with unnatural strength. In Horrors of the Warp they are reasonably cheap single units making them an extremely dangerous unit that you can use to swarm your opponent!
First off, just to remind you of what is coming, let's say it loud: Chaos Daemons are pouring in the Sanctus Reach system and it will happen in two days, on May 24th!
Yes, that's right: only two days to the release of Horrors of the Warp!
In Horrors of the Warp you will play throughout a new single player campaign facing a terrible new threat: the creatures of the warp themselves, Chaos Daemons.
We have been showing off the new units in a series of diaries, every time focussing on a different Chaos god. Today it's the turn of the Dark Prince, the Lord of Excess: Slaanesh.
Daemonettes
The footsoldiers of the Prince of Pleasure, possessed of the hypnotic glamour for which all Daemons of Slaanesh are abhorred, they are vicious, merciless fighters who attack with astounding speed and grace. In Horrors of the Warp they are fragile units and will go down fast, but that doesn't mean you should underestimate them. as they have three attacks and a high combat skill. They can be very nasty glass cannons. Word of advice: use AoE attacks to eliminate entire groups of them or you're in for a world of pain.
Seekers of Slaanesh
The Seekers of Slaanesh are the outriders of the daemonic hosts, Daemonettes who ride upon swift and deadly Steeds. Seekers can cover vast distances at unbelievable speeds. The Steeds are lithe, unsettling creatures with muscular limbs and long, terribly poisonous tongues - it is said a single caress from a Steed's tongue is enough to drive a man into a deathly rapture. The Daemonettes are no less deadly, with lethal claws to slash and slice at their foes. They are perfect flanking units to cover large distances and close in on enemy heavy weapons. Use them to hit where it hurts!
Fiend of Slaanesh
The Fiend of Slaanesh is a bizarre daemon, a hybrid creature that combines reptilian, insectoid and anthropomorphic characteristics. Fiends are incredibly swift creatures, able to skitter and skuttle across all manner of terrain at frightening speed. Though a Fiend is somewhat frailer than other Daemons, only a fool would underestimate its combat prowess. In gameplay terms this horrific daemon disrupts its enemies, it can stun an adjacent enemy for a turn, slows all units around it, remove actions or even lower their morale. A highly dangerous higher daemon with many possible uses. Don't underestimate it...
We will be back tomorrow for the last Chaos God, Nurgle, as well as the undivided Chaos units.
A new day, a new Chaos god to showcase! Today it's the turn of the Lord of Battle himself: Khorne.
Bloodletters
The Bloodletters form the core of the vast legions of the Lord of Battle. Believed to have been foremost amongst the Blood God's followers in mortal life, their will is as implacable and blood-hungry as Khorne himself. Festooned with rippling muscles, knotted sinews and driven by an unparallel killing instinct, Bloodletters are fearsome opponents. In Horrors of the Warp they are very tough melee units that can fill an anti-tank role. In fact their Daemonswords can cut through any armor.
Bloodcrushers
The Bloodcrushers of Khorne are heavy cavalry from within the Realm of Chaos, massive Juggernauts, ridden into battle by deadly Bloodletters. Beasts of brazen brass and corded muscle, Juggernauts are massively resilient and incredibly strong - their charge powerful enough to smash any battleline in a single earth-shattering stampede. While the mighty Juggernauts trample and gouge at their foes, the Bloodletters whirl about them with their bloody hellblades, claiming ever more skulls for their rage-filled patron Khorne. In gameplay terms they can play havoc behind enemy lines, with the toughness to operate as lone attackers and enough attack power to deal the finishing blow to all but the most elite units.
Herald of Khorne on Juggernaut
The Herald asserts his will over the Juggernaut as a mortal would over a more earthly steed. Such a pairing is far deadlier than the sum of its parts. Should a foe survive the frenzied biting and goring of a Juggernaut, they are likely to be crushed beneath its brass body or cut down by the Jugger's rider. With extremely high combat skill, attack power and maneuverability the Herald of Khorne specializes in assassinating high value targets, he is particularly good against enemy hero units. A powerful unit which specialty is, of course, killing.
Lord of Skulls
This massive Daemon Engine of Khorne is built in hell forges with the sole purpose of killing, maiming and burning its enemies until they are no more than a sticky paste under its mighty tracks. It is a pure infernal force, one which will sweep away any opposition. If you see a Lord of Skulls on the battlefield, you'll need to throw everything you have at it, and then more. And even then it might not be enough.
It carries among the most powerful weapons in the game. Its devastating arsenal begins with the Hades Gatling Cannon, a long range anti tank weapon that is equally good against heavy infantry. Next we have the the Ichor Cannon, an extremely large flame weapon, capable of wiping out an entire army on its own. Finally it has a massive Great Cleaver of Khorne, giving it the most powerful melee attack in the game.
Today we start looking at the first in a series of previews on Horrors of the Warp, the upcoming expansion for Warhammer 40,000: Sanctus Reach.
Each of these previews is dedicated to a different god of Chaos and the new units which serve them. Let's start with the Changer of Ways, the Great Conspirator, the Architect of Fate: Tzeentch!
Horrors of the Warp comes with five units completely and exclusively devoted to Tzeentch.
Pink Horrors
Luminescent daemons, always gibbering nonsense, always flailing and whirling their arms: they are a real threat and shouldn't be underestimated. They are one of the few ranged units available to Chaos daemons (otherwise a very melee oriented army) and are able to summon and blast unnatural fire on their enemies. They are extremely effective in large numbers. Pink Horrors are cheap and plentiful, so you can swarm your opponent with these. They are Tzeentch's foot soldiers.
Flamers of Tzeentch
Daemons spouting blue wyrdflame on enemy lines. They are the Chaos Daemons only flamer unit, and should be used with caution. They are very fragile and if attacked they will fall rather quickly, but if employed properly they can be devastating, decimating enemy ranks with their AoE flaming attacks. They are a flying unit, meaning they can hover over any obstacle and their movement is not restricted by terrain. Their enhanced mobility is an incredible tactical asset. Position them and then unleash literal hell on the servants of the Imperium!
Screamers
Screamers dart in the sky and then descend upon their prey, their wailing cry deafening. They slash with their horns and fins and bite their opponents with their fanged maws. In gameplay terms they are a fast flying unit with the advantage of having great mobility but hindered by their fragility. They are excellent to harass the enemy, and can be employed to strike at specific weak points in the enemy formation.
Herald of Tzeentch
No one is safe from a Herald of Tzeentch. Bolting on its Disc wherever the enemy formation is most vulnerable, it will decimate entire ranks of its opponents with its spells and arcane warp powers. In game, it has exceptional mobility due to its hovering Disc, and it is capable of unleashing terrible powers. It can attack from range, buff other Daemons and even use a truly devastating Vortex spell that will deliver great damage to any unit in the area and slow down anyone trying to flee from it. The Herald can turn the tide of any battle. Fear it!
Soul Grinder of Tzeentch
A powerful Daemonic entity coupled with a mighty Infernal machine: this killing combination is a threat to be reckoned with. This particular Soul Grinder is devoted to the Lord of Change, and will form the armored spearhead of the daemonic hosts, using its massive firepower to hammer the enemy lines, covering the rank-and-file troops of the Dark Gods as they close in with the enemy. In gameplay terms, the Soul Grinder can certainly take a beating! It'll take several turns to take it down, and you'd best attack it on the rear. It has devastating firepower and is extremely strong in melee. Beware.
This is it for the Changer of Ways... surely He will be pleased with his servants. We hope so at least!
