Warped Space - November 2024 Development Update
Greetings, Warped Space adventurers! 🚀


Gameplay Improvements
Ships now only load when appropriate, improving stability.
Ship Modules can now be equipped directly from the Modules Tab in Inventory.

Enhanced Engine Online/Offline sequence with added Module Installed Audio feedback.
Radiation Damage:
Radiation can now destroy the ship.

Added a boundary for playtest with three warnings before radiation damage begins.



Starting a new game:
Ships now include 20 minutes of oxygen while the power core is offline or missing.


First time Exploring improved

Adjusted First Tasks for a smoother introduction to gameplay.

New Resources and Tools:
Plasma Condenser and Condenser Fragment added.
Titanium Alloy added.
Ion Engine introduced for advanced ship upgrades.

Updated Requirements for:
Mining Tool
Ship Item Analysis (now requires a Power Core to function).
Improved Debris Drones: They now recover from being dazed and improved Ai.

Scanned Card's Toggle: Now properly shows its state.

UI and Quality of Life Enhancements
Improvements to Key Hints (F1), added missing key bindings.
Cleaned up the UI for better readability.


Improved the Tractor Tool and Objects that it interacts with including new Space Rocks to move around



Progression Tweaks
Improved overall progression to enhance the player experience.
Updated Various Schematic Discovery Points for Better Progression.

Warped Space - August 2024 Development Update
Greetings, Warped Space adventurers! 🚀



We've been hard at work throughout August, bringing new features, updates to enhance your deep-space exploration experience. Here's a breakdown of what’s new:

Space Dock & Visual Updates


Space Dock Overhaul: Updated both Damaged Space Dock and regular Space Dock visuals and icons, ensuring a more polished look.

Item Marker Fixes: Resolved issues with blue item markers and icon sizes, alongside improvements to visual displays.

New Card System: Introduced a card system, initially tested with discovered objects to streamline your inventory and exploration management.



New Tools & Mechanics


Hand Tractor Tool: Added with distance control, smoother movement, basic VFX, and tool schematics for crafting.
- added physics to only the tractored object (more realistic movement / bumping / falling / more efficient)

Tractor Capture Bubble: New feature added to capture items being tractored to your ship’s storage, making resource collection more efficient.

Vertical Hanger Prototype: Watch as the floor auto-ascends when your ship is not docked, and take advantage of new hanger mechanics that integrate floor movement with docking procedures.



Added a Player Facing Environment Controller - Control Oxygen, Gravity and Doors etc.
- with the new environment controller found in asteroid bunkers and other locations

Improvements to the respawn mechanic was completed.



Modules & Enhancements


Tracking Disruptor Module: Added a new module to help you disrupt enemies.

Expansion Slots: Three new expansion slots added to further customize your ship.

Updated Module Readouts: Now shows percentage bonuses for Rate of Fire, Damage, and other stats. Confirmed that these bonuses are being correctly applied.

PowerCore Degradation: Introduced wear and tear mechanics for the PowerCore, with visual feedback in the UI and the ability to repair at space docks.



FPS & UI Improvements


Weapon Management Overhaul: A major update to FPS weapon management, featuring new UI and the removal of legacy code.

New Audio Logs & Ship Banner Updates:
- Added audio logs for scanning the Damaged Space Dock,
alongside new exit and engine toggle key prompts in the ship banner Ui.

Oxygen Mechanics: Added a small grace period after oxygen depletion, giving you a moments after the screen goes blank.





Added a new secret location and props, along with more surprises for you to discover!

Greetings, fellow space explorers! It's time for another thrilling update on our sci-fi space survival game. We've been hard at work fleshing out the game. Here's what we've accomplished over the last few months:


Latest progress and improvement made to the early stages of the game plus quality of life updates


1. UI & HUD Enhancements:



Added UI Markers for improved navigation and feedback.
Improved HUD and Banner Notifications to enhance user experience.
Implemented Scanning and Analysis features in the UI, adding meta data and object detection info to the ship's HUD.
Module Stats now appear in ToolTips and comparison panels.



Also updated Steam Achievements, including new icons for a more polished look.

2. Mission/Story System Updates:



Expanded Mission and Story System to track the location of spawned hostiles and manage loot distribution. Progressive markers were added for mission clarity.
Hostiles now scale dynamically depending on threat level, scaling in speed, shields, armor, and weapons.

Updated Mission System with hybrid scanning/combat modes and improved hostile ship management
to manage frequency and number of hostiles you might encounter.

3. Ship and Combat Enhancements:



Reworked Ship Weapons/Modules to improve on/off states and displays, with further improvements to the weapon system.
Added Combat Info Panel for better situational awareness during combat.



Tiered Ship Modules no longer stack on collection, and new RNG stats now apply to ship components.

4. New Features and Modules:



Added new Expansion Modules for damage and rate of fire, collision and signature dampening, enriching ship customization options.

Introduced a Hand Tractor Tool with advanced distance control and visual effects, including a schematic for crafting.

Implemented a Tractor Capture Bubble to scoop items being tractored into the ship's storage.

Added a hostile logistics ship what repairs its squad members during combat, you may want to target those first unless your ships alpha damage is high enough to burn through the shields, armor and reps.



Vertical Hanger Prototype added, with auto-ascending floors and functional hanger doors, integrating smoothly with ship operations.

5. Optimizations:





Simplified and cleaned up code related to ship module monitoring and collision systems, resulting in more efficient game performance.


6. Asteroid Mining and Exploration:





Improvements to Asteroid Mining, including UI updates and bug fixes, making resource collection more engaging.

7. Additional Updates:



Fixed Cursor Capture and Movement Lock bugs in the settings menu, enhancing user control.
Integrated a new Card System for discovered objects, allowing players to manage and track items more effectively.

Updated Space Dock, Damaged & Undamaged with new icons and visual improvements.


8. Continued Enhancements:



Updated Module Readouts to display percentage bonuses for Rate of Fire, Damage, etc., ensuring that stats are correctly applied and visible to players.

Greetings, fellow space explorers! It's time for another thrilling update on our sci-fi space survival game. We've been hard at work fleshing out the game. Here's what we've accomplished over the last few months:


Latest progress and improvement made to the early stages of the game plus quality of life updates


Gameplay Enhancements:



Updated space dock functionality and fuel management.
Improved craft panel adding craft requirements.

Added Roaming Mineable Asteroids
Get ready to catch Roaming meteoroids that pass by.
Mining then for useful materials but you will have to catch them first.




Added fuel receptacle and fuel management to the space dock.
Implemented a prototype fabricator for the space dock.
Improved oxygen system and added Oxygen to Range Finder UI.

Introduced new NPC AI controller and various NPCs like wasp drones and holograms.
Enhanced scanning and analysis systems, including audio feedback and persistent items.
Updated mission system for better progression tracking.



Quality of Life Improvements:



Improved tooltips and interaction prompts.

Streamlined user interface elements for first tasks and space comms.

Enhanced ship notifications and interaction mechanics.
Implemented minor optimizations to prevent stutter during interactions.
Cleaned up legacy items and improved overall game stability.
Fixed various bugs, including one major lockup issue.



Other Notable Updates:



Introduced stream achievements and markers for story mission progression and easter-eggs.

Added a setting for resetting ship positions for testing. (Player Facing Dev Tool)
Added Audio Clips to players data logs to support story telling.

Added Some new content to explore.

Greetings, fellow space explorers! It's time for another thrilling update on our sci-fi space survival game. We've been hard at work fleshing out the game. Here's what we've accomplished over the last few months:


Latest progress and improvement made to the early stages of the game plus quality of life updates


Performance: Implemented new system for loading Points of Interest (POIs) from disc.


Gameplay Enhancements:



Jump Gates: Added minimum speed and alignment for jump to occur and also Introduced Jump Fuel.


Added Info on components for crafting, green if you have it and red if you don't.

Gameplay Optimization: Improved functionality of ship salvage, mining and tractor beams.


Mission System Refinement: We've significantly enhanced our mission and story system, incorporating persistent tracking, per-mission objectives, and data log updates. Additionally, players allowing players to embark on captivating mission chains that span across multiple star systems, offering an enriched narrative experience in the vast universe of WarpedSpace.

Exploration: Identified specific locations in each system to gather Jump Fuel components.


Radiation: Ion Radiation warning added, ion radiation has a secondary effect in Warpedspace in that it affects your ship's propulsion slowing it drastically, unless of course you find a way to counter it.


Game Mechanics: Implemented changes to respawn mechanics, shield Ui, and power cores.

- respawn now has a fade in effect as you wake up after being re-assembled.
- shield ui now shows if the shields are offline.
- power cores can now distribute their energy to shields, weapons and propulsion.


The Scanning Panel now activates only when objects are active and prioritizes nearest targets

New Features:



Range Finder : Distance is now displayed in EVA of objects infront of you.

A new Encounter was also added to the game.

Content Expansion:
New Star Systems: Expanded the game universe to 7 star systems, each featuring dynamic content, unique environments, and exploration opportunities, also added a hidden systems to test new content ;)

Several ship and suite modules have been introduced and balanced as we continue to evaluate and refine the early stages of the game. These additions aim to enhance your experience and ensure a smooth progression through the universe of WarpedSpace.



April 2024 marked a period of improving the start of WarpedSpace. The initial and exciting part of the game where you wake and need to save yourself.

Greetings, fellow space explorers! It's time for another thrilling update on our sci-fi space survival game. We've been hard at work fleshing out the game.
Here's what we've accomplished over the last few months:



Significant progress was made in enhancing gameplay features, improving user experience, and expanding the game universe.

Gameplay Enhancements:
Scanning Improvements: Implemented different color highlights for scanning to enhance visibility and readability.



Weapon Indicators: Added indicators for laser recharge & missile regen/quantity to provide players with more information about their weaponry.



Base Building : Addressed bugs and issues related to base building mechanics.

Refining System: Enhanced the refining system with a queue feature for smoother processing of materials.



New Features:


Jump Gate's : Introduced jump gates to enable interstellar travel, allowing players to explore different star systems. Gates initially need repairing & persistent states for a more immersive experience.



Chat Integration: Integrated Steam Networking to facilitate possible co-op, at the moment you can chat with your friends in-game.

Audio & Ambiance:
Implemented dynamic environmental audio fading, enhancing transitions between combat and exploration phases, as well as between different areas, for a more immersive player experience.

Also Added new audio lines & adjusted damage sound effects. Improved ambience in asteroid caves & jump gates with atmospheric elements.

Bug Fixes & Optimization:
Inventory & Storage Improvements: Addressed inventory errors, optimized item stacking in storage, and fixed bugs related to transferring items.

UI & Visual Updates: Updated EXO Suite UI for improved equip/unequip functionality & visual presentation.

Content Expansion:
New Star Systems: Expanded the game universe with the addition of 5 new star systems, each featuring dynamic content, unique environments, and exploration opportunities.



Upcoming Developments:
Continued Content Expansion: Ongoing work on procedural generation of explorable areas and fleshing out player and ship progression.

New Ui Icons!



Major Ui Update:
The improvements to Ui is a major improvement for Inventory, Storage, Modules and Ship Setup panels. While we continue to refine these elements, they are now in the experemental build for earilest access players to try out and give feedback on.

Greetings, fellow space explorers! It's time for another thrilling update on our sci-fi space survival game. We've been hard at work expanding the universe and enhancing your gameplay experience. Without further ado, let's dive into what we've accomplished over the last few weeks:

Encounter Alien Outposts: (Placeholder Visuals)
Prepare yourself for captivating encounters with alien outposts! We've dedicated some time to crafting unique experiences for each outpost. Whether you prefer a loud or a stealthy approach, there's something for everyone. Get ready for intense pew-pew action or employ your cunning skills to outsmart your extraterrestrial foes.



Improved HUD Info:
We also spent some time to refine the Tractor, Salvage, Mining, Scanning, and Combat Mode HUD Info. These improvements will provide you with vital information at a glance, allowing for more seamless and immersive gameplay.



Beware of Space Bugs and Critters:
We've added captivating Space Bugs and Critters to encounter during your exploration or Caves etc. Brace yourself for thrilling surprises and be ready for any unexpected challenges that may arise.



Enhanced Player Status Panel:
Your survival is our top priority! We've worked on the Player Status Panel, ensuring it now displays when your health or oxygen levels drop below 80%. Stay informed about your vital stats and take the necessary actions to keep yourself alive in the vastness of space.



Ui Visual Update:
We believe that visual excellence is crucial in creating an immersive gaming experience. Numerous 3D models and their UI counterpart sprites have received some updates, bringing the visuals up to our coveted Sliver Standard. While we strive for perfection, we're proud of the progress we've made so far.



Intelligent Hostile AI:
Brace yourselves for even more thrilling encounters! We've bolstered the AI capabilities of hostile ships, allowing them to make strategic decisions. Hostile ships will now choose to engage in close combat before skillfully evading damage or opt for long-range battles. Additionally, we've introduced two new hostile AI variants: the agile Light Fighter (w) and the formidable Light Fighter (v). These variants, along with the three testing alien outposts, promise distinct behaviors and new challenges - if you're a "earliest-access" backer your feedback is most welcome here ;)



A Sneak Peek into the Future:
We are hard at work exploring various layouts for the upcoming update to the inventory and player setup panels. While we continue to refine these elements, we're excited to offer you a glimpse of what's to come. Stay tuned for an even more streamlined and immersive gaming experience!

I've now added the Newer Visuals for Base building which is now available for testing


Further investigation into base components


and the HAB Airlock is now in concept


Worked on a new mining system and new space rocks for you to find and mine


Further Improvements to the parts of the Ui and
Secondary Weapons, tractor Beam and Salvage Laser now need to be crafted


Worked on a little helper for the player ;)


Key hints were worked on that can be toggles and update according to the situation

I've improved base building overall and even added a prototype space elevator to try out


Worked on Debris Fields to explore



Updated and Improved parts of the Ui



and Investigating modelling and the games overall look and feel for Alpha/Beta with the help of the community
