Watch Dogs 2 – 1.17 Patch Notes – Bug Fix Patch

With this next patch we are focused on remaining bugs, particularly for 4 player party mode and coop. This update will be coming to PC first, with console following shortly a week later. See the outline below for details on the update.

While we do not foresee releasing any additional title updates after this patch, we will continue to be present in the community and are keeping a watchful eye over the game!

Leaderboard seasons will also continue on and will reset in November. This will offer the chance to earn any clothing rewards items you may have missed in the last year!

4-PLAYER PARTY MODE

COOP

ADDITIONAL

Update: We'd like to clarify that in this patch we also closed a loophole where PC mods could be used in online modes. Mods can still be used freely while playing offline with EasyAntiCheat disabled. This has been the policy since launch, as a way of balancing support for player creativity while also safeguarding a positive and fair online multiplayer experience.

Title Update 1.16 “4-Player Party Mode” Patch Notes

Hello, friends! We’re back with our July free content update, featuring the highly-requested 4 player party mode and a special Fourth of July in-game celebration. This Title Update will be available on all platforms on Tuesday, July 4th. Let’s get right into it:

4-PLAYER PARTY MODE - The free roam you know and love is back – now, from the Multiplayer App in your smartphone, two to four friends can enter into a private or public party mode. Free roam around San Francisco causing havoc, or jump into any of these activities on-demand, all of which have been balanced for the optimal amount of 2-4-person tomfoolery:

For activities where there are roles or teams to assign, such as Showd0wn and Bounty Hunter, you’ll see a voting screen where each player can choose their role. In races, players will be able to vote on the course.

Co-op missions will not be available in 4-player party mode, as these missions have been designed specifically for 2-player co-op. Also, since the 4-player party mode is for you and your friends to wreak havoc across San Francisco, Leaderboards have been disabled - though you will still receive followers and cash rewards.

MULTIPLAYER MODE LAUNCH – All multiplayer modes can now be launched manually using the Multiplayer app in your smartphone. No more waiting for events to spawn!

FOURTH OF JULY - Celebrate Independence Day, hacker-style! From now to July 10th, find yourself a cozy spot with an unobstructed view of the Bay and enjoy nightly fireworks with your friends in the new 4-player party mode.

Or, grab a group of friends and get down with your patriotic self in a flurry of red, white and blue paintballs.

SHUFFLER OUTFIT – Players who completed the Shuffler objective but did not receive the outfit and stealth takedown will now receive it. The outfit can be found in your wardrobe; the stealth takedown is available while wearing the outfit.

OTHER - You can now skip the animation when using the 3D printer to change weapons or loadout – really useful in co-op.

Watch_Dogs 2: Everything You Need To Know About the Leaderboards - Updated

We’ve completely revamped our Leaderboards UI. Leaderboards should now be easier to read and offer you a better picture of where you stand among the masses, as well as what you need to do to rank up. You’ll need to check your standing more regularly, as you can now lose rank if you aren’t continuing to fight for your position over the course of each Season. That said, seasonal rewards at Silver and Gold level cannot be lost once those ranks are achieved. Additionally, you’ll no longer receive the rewards at the end of the Season; rewards will show up in your in-game wardrobe as soon as you achieve the appropriate rank

Here are the top things you need to know about Leaderboards in Watch_Dogs 2

1. The Leaderboards system is accessible through your in-game smartphone after completing an objective in the “Walk In the Park” mission. The Leaderboards App will appear on the first page of the smartphone.

2. Each Leaderboard Season lasts three (3) weeks, or 21 days. At the start of each new Season, the scores are wiped and every player begins at the Recruit rank again. New Seasons will be announced in the Leaderboards App.

3. In the Leaderboards App, you will see that there are five (5) separate types of leaderboards, each with their own points and ranking system: Co-op Operations, Hacking Invasions, Bounty Hunter, Showdown and Online Racing.

4. You earn points toward the Leaderboards by completing these online activities. Even if you lose a match, you will still earn points. Playing any of these three activities will generate a score for their respective leaderboards.

5. Divisions are based on percentages, not a number of points. The points required to reach each Division will vary, based on the number of players that are playing each mode and their overall performance.

6. Divisions unlock as the Season goes on. For example, at the very start of the Season only Bronze Division will be available for players. A few days later, Silver will unlock, then Gold, and so on.

7. If you quit or disconnect before the end of the match, you will receive zero points, but the player who remains in the match will still receive points – so always finish out your match!

8. There are six (6) divisions for each online activity’s Leaderboards. From highest to lowest, they are: Master, Diamond, Gold, Silver, Bronze, Recruit.

9. Each of these divisions (except for Recruit and Master) is then split into five (5) additional mini-divisions, with 5 being the highest rank and 1 being the lowest (Bronze 1 < Bronze 2 < Bronze 3 < Bronze 4 < Bronze 5; Gold 1 < Gold 2 … < Gold 5, etc.)

10. You cannot lose points for bad performance during a match, but you can lose rank. Since Divisions represent a percentage of the total player population, if you stop playing multiplayer or are outperformed by other players, you will fall back to lower Divisions.

11. Rewards earned from your division in the Leaderboard will be added automatically to your in-game wardrobe as soon as you attain the rank. There are two (2) rewards to earn each Season. The first is essentially a participation reward – play a few multiplayer matches and you’re bound to reach Silver rank to unlock it. The next reward is the second piece of the set – you want to attain Gold rank or higher to earn this item. These are exclusive items that can only be earned by playing multiplayer online activities. These items are themed sets alternating between hacking culture and real-life events.

12. You can compare your division to your friends and challenge them to online activities directly from the Leaderboards app in-game. The rewards are uniquely-themed by Seasons. So once you get that Season’s reward, you won’t be able to get it again in another Season.

13. We have added a new tab to the Leaderboards App: History. This tab will show the rank you achieved in past seasons for each multiplayer activity. Please note that history will begin to be tracked for the next Season beginning May 22nd and will not include history from any earlier Seasons.

Open the Leaderboards app on the second page in the in-game smartphone to check out the changes! As always, share your best multiplayer moments with us @watchdogsgame or on our community-run subreddit.

Title Update 1.15 Patch Notes – “Man vs. Machine”

Oh hi friends. We’re back with a new free content update, adding new challenges and ways to play with your friends. You’ll need partners in-game to defeat the most difficult co-op challenge yet, and face new human threats when attempting a loot truck takeover. Let’s dive in to everything that’s in the patch:

NEW CONTENT & IMPROVEMENTS

MAN VS. MACHINE CO-OP EVENT – A weaponized Tidis protoype security robot has been detected around the Bay Area, and it’s going to be a pain in the a** to take out. But you’re up to the task, right? It will appear dynamically in the world as a DedSec Event when you’re paired up with someone in co-op, will require careful coordination with your fellow hacker in order to defeat it. Good luck.

PVP LOOT TRUCKS – Robbing loot trucks for fat stacks of cash and followers is about to get a little crazier. Other players will be able to join your session when you come across a loot truck and you’ll have to battle them AND the cops in order to reap the rewards. This update supports up to 4 players in a session at a time, and can be played co-op.

LEADERBOARD IMPROVEMENTS – We wanted our leaderboards to be as sexy as the No Compromise DLC so we’ve completely remade them. They should be easier to read, and offer you a better picture of where you stand amongst the masses, and what you need to do to rank up. You’ll need to check your standing more regularly, as you can now lose rank if you aren’t continuing to fight for your position over the course of each season. That said, seasonal rewards at Silver and Gold level cannot be lost once those ranks are achieved.

PHONE BACKGROUNDS – You’ll be able to set your swag to 100 and customize your in-game phone with a selection of different backgrounds.

TWEAKS AND BALANCING

Bounty Hunter target buff – Targets in Bounty Hunter will be a little more difficult to kill, especially at the hands of police. We found that Bounty Hunter matches were ending too quickly, and this balancing change is intended to address that.

Bounty Hunter leaderboard boost – Small increase in base leaderboard points for the target. Does not affect accumulated points (kills, escapes, etc.)

Showd0wn – Improved match flow

OTHER STUFF

Multiple crash fixes that are too boring and technical to waste anyone’s time explaining aaaaaaaand we’re done.

[Editor’s Note: Be sure not to mention the thing in the inventory, it’s a surprise. Players will need to do a hard save (start/end main mission, or change HUD settings, etc and restart after update to find the surprise). Delete this note before publishing, thanks.]

Title Update 1.13: Patch Notes

This Title Update is an especially exciting one for us to share with you because it’s the biggest free content update we’ve made to the game thus far, and it includes the brand new Showd0wn PvP gameplay. We’ve received a lot of feedback from you all that you wanted more multiplayer options in the game, and we hope you have a great time with this one.

The patch will be available to download on all platforms Monday, April 17th, with the No Compromise DLC launching on the 18th on PlayStation 4.

New Content

• New Online Mode: Showd0wn – This is a new type of online gameplay for 2v2 PvP matches that can be played with a friend, or through random matchmaking. Showd0wn will feature three types of objectives [Steal the HDD, Doom-load (KotH style), and Erase/Protect the Servers] across 15 distinct locations. This is a great endgame challenge to play with friends, provided you’re not a script kiddie and know how to use all of the tools in your arsenal.

Online Races – Drone, motocross and eKart races are getting multiplayer functionality! They will also have their own leaderboards, so you can use them to compete for season rewards.

Loot Truck Event – These armored trucks will randomly appear in the world, offering you a chance to hack them and then defend against the flood of police that will be responding. These will not be easy to rob, but the cash and followers payout is fat.

Paintball gun – This bad boy will be available in the 3D printer and can stun enemies with a barrage of paintballs. Fun fact: in PvP gameplay your opponent’s screen will be colored in paintball splashes when you attack them.

New Clothes – 13 new clothing items are available in the various stores, as if you didn’t look fly enough already.

Improvements

Explosive damage – We’ve improved the effectiveness of explosives for online play. With this update, damage to the opponent is determined by their proximity to the explosion. Standing on top of the IED will end in immediate and embarrassing death, but you’ll suffer less damage if you’re further out when the blast goes off. Check yourselves before you wreck yourselves.

Leaderboards – Multiple minor improvements to the leaderboard system

Bug Fixes

“Bio Hacking” blocker – Fixed an issue that was preventing some players from completing this mission.

Duplicate operations – Fixed a bug that was sometimes causing duplicate operation entries in the DedSec App.

Key Data – We’ve updated some Key Data units with proper definitions and descriptions on the map.

• Lots of other minor bug fixes and improvements we don’t want to bore you with.

PC Specific – Title Update 1.013.177.1

• Fixed an issue when the game couldn’t be started in Steam after the download with "Launch the game as soon as it`s ready" option turned on.

• Fixed an issue when the San Francisco Fog was displaying incorrectly during rain.

• Fixed an issue when the game launched on laptops with integrated GPU, instead of dedicated.

• Lots of fixes to various minor issues with flickering, reflections, missing textures, windowed modes behavior, UI, text, online game modes, other stuff, yada yada.
