Wawa United

Update 0.9.3

A new update is available for both demo and full versions. Here are the changes :
- A lovely new soundtrack is now available in the lobby.
- The lobby has been made more vibrant with slight color corrections.
- Upon placing objects in the lobby, the grass will now shrink in size where objects were placed. Grass grows back when you remove objects. This will hopefully make the space cleaner looking and objects more visible.
- Slight changes and optimizations made through all levels.
- Slight graphic improvements on the world map.
- A bug disconnecting players in the Cave Escape level has been solved.
- Minor bug corrections.

Update 0.9.2

Wawa United has been updated to 0.9.2.

This version contains (huge) improvements on existing content. New content should still take a little longer.

Changes:
- Most levels have been modified to various degrees. Globally they have been made easier to get through and make more sense.
- The game should now support controllers. This feature is still currently being tested, but should work well enough.

Graphics :
- Added or enhanced volumetric lightning in some levels.
- Improved performance in each level.
- Details have been added.

Additions:
- When your teammates are off screen, an arrow will now indicate their locations.
- The world map UI has been upgraded.

Bug fixes:
- Some features (chests, powers, end level torches, etc) should no longer require several presses before working in solo mode.
- The “Collect” button for generated Gems in the lobby now works correctly.

And many, many other improvements. New content is on the way, and the wait shouldn't be much longer.

Merry Christmas !

Next (Content) Update Incoming & Details

Hello back dear frogs,

It's been a long while without news. As the latest build was looking stable enough, I didn't rush into pushing bug fixing patches every other week and started focusing on new content. But something happened: I have been hospitalized for a nasty disease for more than a month, which forced me to slow down my work and impacted the plans I had for the next update. I originally was eager to push the first huge content update for Wawa United on its first release anniversary, September 11th.
Obviously, I missed the deadline*, but there is good news: there is a lot of content and bug fixes on the pipes. I have been putting every single hour of the time I had available into creating this new content and hopefully it will be worth it once it's ready.
I am eager to share it with you, so I will use this post to detail what is going on, and also some screenshots!

* I would have missed it anyway.

1. Komaka Islands are coming

After the caves, part 2 of the adventures are about to be released. You will at last venture out of the Edge, to the Komaka archipelago. Introducing new enemies, new situations, a new power into brand new adventures. Your goal this time? Reach the mainland!
Also, a new market is available with new hardware to further customize your home!

The Infinite Tower

The Infinite Tower has been on the map long enough and it will soon open its doors to eager adventurers. It is a dungeon to be explored alone, with a sequence of increasingly difficult challenges that are constantly changing. The first frog to reach its end will be richly rewarded, which doesn't mean other contenders won't. Whenever the end is reached by anyone, the whole dungeon resets with a brand new challenge. Also, you may meet new "friends" on the way.

On your way, you'll be able to spray cryptic messages on some rocks so the adventurers behind you can benefit from your experience.
Also, your life won't matter as much in this dungeon, as you will be granted a certain number of "attempts" which will decrease each time you get hurt or otherwise commit a mistake. Once you're out of attempts, that's it, you get booted out of the tower.

Candy Land

Not only the Komakas are coming, but also the land of Candies.
There is still so much to do so this one. it might not be present in the next update. However it should follow shortly and introduce the first 4 players map in the game.

Full controller support

It was ridiculous that the game only supported controllers as an afterthought and didn’t allow for alternative key mappings. This will now be fixed.
Note that the game still does not support couch multiplayer : you can play solo, but only by controlling frogs one after the other.

Graphic and performance improvements

UI has been polished. All levels, even the existing ones, have been made better looking. They also run smoother. The world map will also run significantly better on lower end machines.
An indicator will show where your teammates are, and also their chats.

Bug fixes

Many, many bugs have been fixed. Levels should run smoother, UI should be less awkward in some places. Hopefully your experience will be much better.
As for the networking experience, if you play online, despite doing my best at testing everything beforehand, I can only rely on your feedback and experience to improve the lag and correct bugs. I am the sole developer on this project, so my own testing abilities are limited.
Don’t hesitate to use the handy feedback function.

I don't have a precise ETA but I'd say roughly a month from now. I may push the Infinite Tower before the Islands if I finish one before the other. It would be pointless to keep all the goodies away just to publish everything in one time.

Anyway, thank you for your patience and I'll be back soon enough!
