When you and your co-partner wake up in the basecamp, you will find some very cheerful decorations. They look nice, but they lack power. In order to get the celebrations going, you and your fellow explorer will need to solve a special puzzle that’s hidden within the base of operations at the beginning of your journey towards Castle Rock!
So whether your friend has been naughty or nice, call them and get ready for a Christmas mystery in We Were Here Together!
Note: The special Christmas Puzzle is available on the PC/Steam and Xbox One version of We Were Here Together from December 20th 2020 until January 5th 2021

The Official We Were Here Discord channel is welcoming new explorers everyday and is still the perfect place to catch up on puzzle-solving adventures and search for the perfect partner to explore mysterious castles with. So if you haven’t joined yet.. well… do it! There’s also a monthly community challenge where everyone can participate. This month’s challenge is all about the joy of Christmas music!

New update released! Coming in loud and clear!
”Can you read me??”
“Loud and clear! Over!” As you may have noticed, we have updated We Were Here Together right here on Steam! This patch implements a new voice-over system called Vivox. This should improve communication between explorers using their walkie-talkies, especially those trapped in Castle Rock and the outskirts of the Antarctic.
You also might see that when booting up We Were Here Together, the main menu has received a bit of a facelift! Not only is it looking better, it will also keep you up to date with what’s going on with the We Were Here Series.

Exploring festivities
The explorers are always in the mood to celebrate something when they are not trapped in an ice cave or creepy castle halls. You might already have noticed some treats scattered around the basecamp ingame. These are treats related to the Dutch tradition known as ‘Sinterklaas’. Have you found everything yet? Make sure you do, because those won’t be sticking around forever! In fact, on December 19th, you might want to explore the basecamp even further with your partner. Because there is that one door that wo-ho-ho-on’t open…

What are we up to right now?
We can tell you that we're participating in the Tokyo Game Show this year, with some awesome news! If you aren't following the event, you can find it at the end of this post as well. The Tokyo Game Show is always an exciting event with some big announcements and trailers to enjoy - and we're always curious to see what's popular in other parts of the world. We'd love to attract new We Were Here fans from Japan and Asia more generally! If you'd like to check out the event yourself, Inverse has a nice article on how and when to watch.

Are you a notetaker?
Some of the puzzles in our games can be more easily solved with the aid of pen and paper, as player QAQAQAQAQ has discovered. Some great drawings here!
We're pleased to see people taking notes, because the We Were Here series is inspired in part by the legacy of classic adventure game Myst - did you know that Myst actually came with a notepad in the game box itself! You can see a cool image of someone's notes from this fun Reddit thread!

Speaking your language - 1.7.1 update released!
We released an update today which fixes a couple of issues with the Steam rich presence display, and adjusts the Russian translation on the final puzzle to be more clear. It also adds localization support for a bunch of new languages!

To add them, go to your Steam library, find the game in the shelves to the right (not in the summary list), and right click on it. Then choose Manage > Set custom artwork, and choose your image! You could even make every game in your library look like We Were Here, if you wanted.
