2.1 Update Now Live - Windows Only
The update only effects people with Windows machines. Unfortunately there is a bug for the Mac build which causes the game to instant crash. So I have to do some research and figure out why its causing the crash.
But for now all windows users should be able to access the new 2.1 update!
Whats new with the update? Well -
- Huge performance increase. Switch from Forward to Deferred rendering.
- Switch from a hard to soft load from the start, this should address any one with a slower computer who cant get past the initial loading screen.
Since the game is picking up traction on Twitch, I added Twitch integration. With this update the viewers of your stream will be able to interact with game play via chat. How? You Ask? Read below:

Hacker Poll
This will trigger a poll in which your viewers will either vote BLACKHAT or WHITEHAT.
If the BLACKHATS win then a random viewer who voted black hat will be picked as the hacker. The hacker will be able to choice the type of attack(DOS, KERNAL or VAPE) and then the difficulty level(1337, SCRIPT, N00B). If the player(you) blocks the hack, the hacker(them) will get timed out depending the skill level they have set.
If the WHITEHATS win, then you will NOT get hacked, and the modem will be instantly reset.
Escalation Poll
This will trigger a poll in which your viewers will vote the following options:
KEY – if this wins, you will be given a free random key on your desktop!
KIDNAPPER – If this wins, then the kidnapper will be released early in the game.
BREATHER – If this wins, then the breather will be released early in the game.
Site Load Speed Poll
This will trigger a poll in which your viewers will vote if the websites will load in faster or slow for 3 minutes.
Key Cue Alert Poll
This will trigger a poll in which your viewers will vote if the website key cue should be longer or disabled!
Modem Reset Time Poll
This will trigger a poll in which your viewers will vote if either the modem reset time will be increased by double or decreased!
Random Spooky Event Poll
This will trigger a poll in which your viewers will vote if there should be a mystery random jump scare event!
I will be monitoring people on Twitch the next few days to see what I could adjust and if anything needs balancing.
With that being said, I see a lot of people requesting a 'casual' mode.. If I see a steady user play base the next few weeks, I promise I will add the following modes:
Speed Run Mode - This mode will be great for people who would like to do speed runs.
Casual Mode - For those who just want to read the content / lore behind Welcome to the game. Which will disable any ending, kidnapper, hacks and breather.. pretty much a web browser simulator.
With that being said, if I also sell enough units to support it, I will add a '1337 Mode' Which will be very hard to make. Why 'sell enough units' well with this I would like to add a whole new ending to the game, but can only do if I have the finances to support it!

But it will have the following:

Small Update - Read
Since only about 0.2% ownership has beat the game. I went ahead and made a small update to this game.
The update includes a hidden cue / clue when you visit a page that contains a key. Could it be a sound cue? A visual cue? or something else entirely? Who knows.. I guess you guys will have to figure that out :)
This update also now deletes your game file once you have beat the game, so you can NOT get all the endings with one run.
I will see how this update plays out, and do any future updates that I see fit. Hopefully this update wont make the game too easy.

On top of all of this, we are now proud to announce the ‘Hacker Mode’ DLC. Now available.
Welcome to the Game - Hacker Mode is a DLC for Welcome to the Game that is a non-stop chain puzzle mode. Solve your favorite attacks from the DOSBlocker, K3RN3LC0MP1L3R and new CLOUDGRID. Each chain mode has levels of chains, as you progress further the puzzles get more difficult. Solve them to get points!
Build up points to compile stacks, use those stacks unlock upgrades! Upgrades include:
- NOPSled: Will instantly progress you to the next chain level.
- Shell: Will recover you from a failed hack attempt, AKA extra hacker life!
- DOS_TURBO: Permanently increase boost time!
- KernSKIP: Will instantly skip the current line of code in the K3RN3LC0MP1L3R.
- cloudFREEZE: Freezes time in a current cloud grid for 30 seconds.
Thank you all for who have been patient on this update, took me a little bit longer then I was excepting, but I am sure you guys will be happy with the results.

2.0 Update Coming Soon
Glad to see the overwhelming support for this game. I have been working hard on the Welcome to the Game 2.0 update, which will include the following:
- Brand new 3rd mini game / hack called V.A.P.E attack / Cloud Grid.
- Mechanic to prevent being hacked.
- Expanding out current websites by adding sub pages and etc.
- Adding more websites, quite a bit of them.
- Forgive Me is now dynamic.. Meaning you can now submit your OWN confessions via Welcome to the Game and read other confessions by other Welcome to the Game players IRL.
- 3rd deep wiki(again many more sites)
- New setting to filter out nudity(new pages contain some nudity)
- Steam Achievements
- Fixing cheat that some users use to beat the kidnapping.
- Fixing Misc bugs
- And maybe a few other things, that I am not yet ready to discuss.
This update will be a free update to those who already own the game, and the price will remain the same of $1.99
With that being said, I will also be adding a DLC for $0.99 which will be called 'Hacker Mode'(working title). This mode will be a non stop mini game mode, where you block hacks to build up a high score. High scores will be kept tracked in a top leaderboard.. Update 1.0.2
- Fixed issue with users pausing the game and bad things are triggered.
- Fixed bug with Doll Maker audio.
- Fixed bug where it would crash when turning light back on.
- Fixed bug with ghost game over.
Updates:
- Increased mouse wheel scroll speed for browsing pages.
- Decreased the frequency of getting hacked.
- Decreased page loading times.
- Made the K3RN3LC0MP1L3R hack even easier.
Changed around some other mechanics in the game. Hope you guys enjoy!
HOTFIX 1.0.1
If you are experiencing a crash right when the game starts to load, now goto the options menu and hit OFF for the MIC options. I found out that in certain windows machines it was causing issues when trying to tap into your mic. Also you can use this option to disable the mic mechanic for the kidnapper.
I went ahead and also changed the sprite / 2D elements not to be effected by changing the texture quality settings. So when you change the quality level, it should stay the same for the sprite / 2D elements of the game .
So if you are still experiencing the crash after turning the MIC off try lowering your quality settings, and running window mode in a smaller resolution. If you are still getting the crash, leave a comment in the bugs topic in general discussions.
I have also noticed some people having this problem when they don’t meet the minimum requirements. So be sure your system can meet the minimum system requirements for this game.
Stay tuned for the next update, while I address the other issues that players are having. I just wanted to get this update out ASAP that is preventing people from playing the game.
