Community Update September 2020

Hi everyone,

It's that nice part of September when the leaves start changing color and Champion shows up to talk about WGT.

In my August post I listed a few things we're working on. Today I want to focus specifically on the progress we're making to improve the aim marker. As you continue reading, please keep in mind that development is still in progress, and the final product may look or be functionally different than shown here.

The first change is to the aim box itself, which is now a single color that's easy to see on bright backgrounds and easier to see through when on the green.

The second change is to the reverse camera when putting. The aimer will now move low to the ground, which is the default placement from the Flash version of the game. This gives a better look at the green. Plus, the aimer no longer covers the majority of the grid lines between the player and the cup.

The third change is a show/hide toggle for the aimer altogether. When this feature is available, you'll be able to use the "v" key, which you can rebind in settings to hide the aim box. This will allow you to get a clean view of your putts or anywhere else you'd prefer to see without the aim marker box. Note that you cannot drag your aim while the aim box is hidden.

That's it for my September update. We'll talk soon.

Thank you for reading and thank you for playing.

Community Update August 2020

Hi everyone,

We've somehow made the turn to the back half of August already, which means it's time for another Champion post about what is going on in WGT.

First, some news.

The current Steam version of the game does not have free daily coins, so while we work on the permanent solution to this we've been awarding free coins to Steam users weekly in the meantime.

Next, some more news.

The WGT Live Series: August Championship is coming up on August 29. The event will be streaming live on our Twitch and YouTube channels to determine the 2020 Season Champion.

Lastly, I want to highlight some things that we're working on bringing to the game when ready:

  • New Daily Free Coins system
  • Creating an option to speed up the dots on the greens on putts to match Flash. This would be a game settings option for long-term players to have an experience closer to what they were used to.
  • Option to Enable/Disable Apparel Bonuses in multiplayer game setup
  • Rollout of classic WGT apparel from the Flash game. (Players who already own these outfits in Flash will receive them automatically for free.)
  • Improving the aim marker on putts so it's no longer in the way when using the reverse camera

This is only a partial list of what we're currently working on or planning to work on soon, in addition to other content updates like new game modes, courses, and all the things you enjoy in WGT.

Thank you for reading, and thank you for playing.

Community Update July 2020

Hi everyone,

It's July! I feel like it's been a blink of an eye since January and somehow a decade since March, but here we are finally, or already, in July.

We're currently putting the final touches on the new Settings menu that we hope will help players avoid confusion in that area of the game. It was something we got a lot of feedback on and I'm looking forward to you seeing the result. Of course, it goes without saying that we want to hear your thoughts on how we did.

The new Settings menu will still have all the existing options, PLUS new keybindings, and it adds back the ability to switch your status from online to offline, which was temporarily removed when we merged the old in-game menus into a single left-side menu. This means your "Online Visibility" will now be accessible in both the regular game settings as well as the in-game settings menu.

This new Settings menu is now combined into a single page and I personally find it much easier to navigate and use, especially when it comes to changing your resolution. You'll also find it easier to reach our support channels for when you need help. We expect to release these improvements with our next update at the end of July.

It goes without saying that we're working on more than just a new settings page, so we'll have more to share on those projects soon. We've got some long-term projects in the works that are focused on helping new players learn the game better, new event types, and new game modes.

Next week we're launching the Out of This World Showdown, and I must say, it's the best badge we've made so far. Be sure to enter and try to get that badge on your profile.

Update 6/25

Hi friends,

New update today!

Update Includes:

  • New Cobra Speedzone clubs in the proshop
  • In-game left/right menus are now consolidated to only the left side
  • Opponent profile can now opened by selecting opponent profile photo in top right
  • Scrolling improvements
  • Restart button added to left-side menu for games that can be restarted
  • Windowed mode in 1920x1080 will no longer lose the bottom of the screen. Instead it will understand the available workspace and make itself fit the space. This isn't perfect yet and it keeps it's original aspect ratio, so in addition to losing height to fit the space it also loses width to keep the aspect ratio.
  • Keybindings (phase 1)

Keybindings do not yet have a list in the game and does not support custom keybindings yet. We expect to bring this out in phase 2 at the end of July.

Key Bindings

[ESC] Back/Close/Cancel/Open Left Side Menu
[T] Open Chat
[Left Shift] Open Shot Type
[F] Remove/Replace Flag Stick
[TAB] Open Club Selection
[SPACEBAR] Open Camera Controls
[1] Camera 1 (when camera control is open)
[2] Camera 2 (when camera control is open)
[3] Camera 3 (when camera control is open)
[4] Camera 4 (when camera control is open)
[5] Camera 5 (when camera control is open)

Important Note! We redid the in-game left/right menu. All the same items are available except the "Visible to Friends" checkbox. This is currently unavailable in the game and will be brought back in the new settings panel for PCEA which is due to released in July.
