What the Box?

Garden Paws is now live on Kickstarter! New game from the creators of What The Box!

We just launched a Kickstarter campaign for our new game Garden Paws, if besides shooters with boxes you also like relaxing games about farming, exploring and raising animals you should definitely check it out!

The Workshop Update is here!

It took a while but the Workshop update is finally here! What The Box now features a level editor in which you can create and share your own WTB maps!

If you want to know more about how the level editor works, check the Level Editor Guide!

The game was also updated to a newer version of unity, which should fix some old issues and got some bugs were fixed.

It also now shows you how many rooms are available on each region, so you can jump to a region with rooms open right away instead of cycling through regions to check for rooms!

I hope you enjoy this update! A smaller one will come soon fixing a couple of bugs reported with the level editor.

Upcoming Workshop Update!

It's been a long time since the last post but here we go again!

I'm preparing a new update of What The Box, this update will be mainly focused in introducing a new level editor integrated with Steam Workshop, but I'm also working on a few improvements!

The game is being updated to Unity 5.6.1 which should fix some issues and improve performance.

Another thing that I have been working on is a better way to find available games:

This image is generated in real time in PHP and is always updated with the current number of rooms open in the game, that way you can know if there is a room open at the moment without having to actually check in-game. I've placed it in the game's website

On the next update the room listings menu will display the amount of rooms available on each region right away, so if you want to play no matter what region you can jump straight to the region that have rooms at the moment!

On the Level Editor front, the main meat of this update, things have been going great. Feature-wise it's almost ready to go, just need to add a lot of different objects to it and start testing it. (Are you interested in testing it?
Jump on my discord and tell me!) Will probably start testing this week.

I've started writing a little Steam Guide on how to use the level editor with lots of little gifs, you can see a little bit of how it works here:

Lastly, I took back to streaming the development of the game, you can watch the streams here, I've been streaming around 2~3pm pst.

Thanks for reading! Hope you'll enjoy the next update :D If you have any suggestions or ideas please drop them here or show up on the discord or stream to talk about it!

Patch Notes for 1.6.0

I was hoping to make 1.6.0 the big January update I'm planning, but I ended up using the other numbers before for the other smaller updates and didn't want to use 1.5.91 or something silly like that so...

This is a small update!

- Added Holiday maps
- While in Snowy Mountains map staying still for a while will freeze your screen.
- While in Snowy Mountains map all the boxes are presents :)

I'll be releasing the bigger update with the new game modes and finally unlocking skins next month, sorry for the delay!

Patch Notes for 1.5.7

Hi everyone! Thank you so much for enjoying the game and sending so many suggestions and love its way! I've been working on a experience/levelling system that will work in conjunction with the skins system. :boxcutter:

I'm releasing in this update the experience/levelling system. You can now gain experience, cardboard bits, gift boxes and golden box-cutters from playing. At the moment you can't really do anything with those, but in the next update I'll be releasing the skins system and you will be able to open the gift-boxes you obtained :)

Hope you guys enjoy it! I'm excited for the next update :D
