Movement in VR is a formidable challenge. Anyone that has played VR games or developed for VR knows this all too well. Movement in “conventional” games is one of the easier features – first things a developer does – but for VR there are a host of different factors that need to be considered.

Devlog #7: The Entrance (Player Hub)

For the past month we have been hard at work putting some finishing touches on the game. One area we’ve been really focusing on is our new player hub, the Entrance. Players can use this room to experiment with their potions, poisons and flasks; try out some of their favourite weapons found in previous dungeon runs; open treasure chests; and start new dungeons.

Devlog #6: Robust Alchemy System

Alchemy involves the collection of magical plants and the creation of powerful potions, vials and flasks. In When Wardens Fall players can collect plants by exploring the environment purposely, or simply stumbling upon them.

Players can then visit the alchemy station found in the Tavern. When you are close enough to the alchemy station your alchemy bag will fly to the table and reveal all the plants you have collected.

Devlog #5: Action Packed Combat System

In the first release weapons will come in three varieties: swords, axes and daggers. There are more planned weapon types coming in later releases (and if I find more time you may see more before first release!)

Devlog #4: Monsters from the Realm of Pestilence

Meet two creatures that you'll encounter in the Realm of Pestilence: The Disciplines & The Chosen.

The Disciples prefer a hit and run style, jumping out of the fight when it gets too rough and then charging back in to deal massive damage.

Unlike the Disciples, the Chosen do not fear a fight and will not run from you. They attack relentlessly, darting in and out of combat with extreme grace.

Devlog #3: Introduction to the Realms

The Vault in When Wardens Fall is organized into three demonic realms: the Realm of Pestilence, the Realm of Deceit and the Realm of Hatred. Each of these realms feature their own leader, their own monsters and their own mechanics.

In the first early access release, players will be able to face off against monsters from both the Wardens and the Realm of Pestilence. You can look forward to exploring the Realm of Deceit and Realm of Hatred in later releases.
