Mac news: Apple silicon now supported!

Hey everyone!

We've been receiving many questions from our most progressive Mac users on whether while True: learn() supports those top notch Silicon processors?

Well, now we've made all necessary preparations, and the answer is: yes, definitely yes, while True: learn() runs fine on any Mac computer with Silicon on board!

It concerns both Steam version and the one you can get from Apple AppStore.

One more reason to go and solve some machine learning-related puzzles! Please enjoy :)

Halloween 2021: No Tricks, Just Treats

Oh hi there!

It's that frightfully pleasant time of the year again, when we dress up, give out candy and inflict massacre upon pumpkins (sorry, pumpkins!).

Luckily, no pumpkins are harmed during Halloween in our games, because it's purely virtual. As you can see, our game page is already chock full of holiday spirit, and the game decorations will follow next week.

However, you want some Halloween mood, like, right now, we advise you to get to our next game, Learning Factory, which already has its spooky event happening:

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1150090/Learning_Factory/

But don't you think that we've mentioned it for the sake of pitching, as we have exciting news to share! Learning Factory EDU, a special version of the main game tailored for teaching engineering design in middle schools, is now fully available for downloading for free, along with teacher's guides. It is designed by professional curriculum developers and aligned with NGSS standards for teaching STEM. If you know an educator looking to gamify their classroom - don't hesitate to spread the good news!

What about while True: learn() though? Well, it keeps inspiring people for learning new stuff, and we can't be more inspired by that!

If you have your own story to share, you're very welcome to join us on our Discord server!

May this Halloween be horribly awesome for you all! Until next time 🤖🤡💀👻👽

Back To School: 25% Off while True: learn() / Free Learning Factory EDU

It's always kinda sad when summer comes to an end... But that also means that it's time to go back to school!

No matter what form of education you prefer: be it distance learning or good old fashioned classroom think tank -- we always salute your wish to learn something new! We even have a special deal for you (or maybe your significant others) who feels that curiosity itch:

while True: learn() is 25% off until September 6, 10am PST

But learning means always moving towards new horizons. Throughout this summer (and good part of spring) we were looking out for new exciting ways for video games to empower and change modern education for the better.

We have been collaborating with teachers, we've been meeting with ed-tech experts, hey, we've even launched a YouTube show, in which we discuss the future of education with tech-savvy teachers who care.

[previewyoutube="6AzYQxBvdmU;full"]

Like in this episode, we're meeting with Paul Darvasi, an educator with 20+ years of experience, who's now doing a visionnaire job, turning mainstream and indie games into school lessons.

And most importantly, we're joined by his 11-years old son Max, with an honest perspective on what is wrong with many of today's "educational games" and how games can and will be transforming classrooms.

With help from all kinds of awesome people from the world of education, we were developing our own attempt to adapt game mechanics to fit into classrooms.

We're talking about Learning Factory EDU, which is meant to improve problem solving skills and introduce engineering practices to middle school children. It comes with teacher guides, and you can get it on our website. Oh, and it's free for everyone to use!

Please share a link to Learning Factory EDU to anyone interested in applying video games in education, as we're looking for teachers and parents, willing to play it along with their learners and share feedback. This will help us turn LF EDU into a razor-sharp tool carving a way towards new knowledge!

Happy new school year!

Tell us about what you've learnt this summer?

Status Update: Awesome Times Are Upon Us

Hey there!

We know it's been a while, but we didn't forget about you! Our players are an infinite source of inspiration for us. Seeing so many people interested in puzzles about programming, machine learning and stuff like that - we just can't afford to let you down!

That means, we always think about you! And from this thinking, we find the guts and ideas to move educational games forward. Here's what we've been doing since the last time we've been catching up:

Learning Factory EDU: STEM-Centered, Free, Co-Developed With Teachers

And we've been working on stuff! We've collaborated with Games for Change non-profit organization, to make a special, STEM-centered version of our next game, Learning Factory. And we're making it happen! In fact, you can already download free version of Learning Factory EDU from our website

In short, we've teamed up with teachers who are helping us to develop a lesson plan, that will help understand engineering practices and improve problem-solving skills. It also comes with a podcast, in which you can follow us as we develop Learning Factory EDU, while meeting all kinds of awesome people from the world of education.

Name Your Cat at Learning Factory

Hey there!

Since there has been no updates for some time, we have a fun little activity for you! You know, we have this other game, Learning Factory, which is about automating an old industrial cluster on Mars and turning it into a factory for selling cute stuff to cute cats. This one:

So, we will be releasing a major update this week, which will include a whole bunch of cat researchers, responsible for scientific cat stuff at the Factory.

So, want to add your cat (or even yourself, also as a cat) to our roster of brilliant cat minds?

All you have to do is fill out this short 1-minute Google Form! We will select some of your suggestions we especially like, and make them into our new cat scientists! Like these fellows:
