Whiskey & Zombies

Whiskey & Zombies Out On consoles!

We are happy to announce the release of Whiskey & Zombies on Xbox X|S & One and PlayStation 5 & PlayStation 4. The game is now available in both the Xbox Games Store and PlayStation™ Store.

With a story mode that’s playable as a solo experience or in couch co-op, Whiskey & Zombies is a slick top-down zombie shooter designed to bring button-mashing chaos to bars, barns, or outhouses, if there’s space. Players must defeat the mass of undead while fighting to keep their accomplices alive. Should they fall victim to the zombie horde, a quick chug of whiskey will get them back on their feet again.

Choose your character, weapon, and play style. Will you sneak through the hordes? Or go in guns blazing and hope your friends have enough moonshine to keep you alive?

A throwback to beloved chaotic couch co-op games, Whiskey & Zombies will have players hollering as they beat back the hordes of zombies. Will you and your friends manage to save humanity? Or will you end up brainless in the Bayou?

Whiskey & Zombies Update

Big ‘ol update with tons of fixes under the hood and a totally revamped and expanded leaderboard. It is also platform-independent now — which means that players on upcoming systems will compete with everyone else. Don’t worry, there’s no crappy aim assist in this game, everyone has the same shitty drunken aim as everyone else... x.O. All current stats on the Steam leaderboards will hopefully transfer over nicely.

We have also fixed some of the broken achievements here on Steam and we have added some new achievements — some are public but we have added three hidden ones that come with a prize! First to unlock all three before October 31st 2021 gets something really nifty! Just drop us a line and show us a screencap of your achievements!

It took a little time to get this one out as we updated to a newer version of Unity, something very NOT advisable during production but we had to do it. Now, we have some more options moving forward for things we’ve wanted to implement for a while. Now, we just need to put down the celebratory bottle(s) long enough to get ‘em done!

Drink. Fight. Stay Alive.

Whiskey & Zombies Update News

So we finally got around to releasing Whiskey & Zombies! Thanks for the amazing response so far, brings joy to our shitkicker hearts. And we super appreciate all the feedback — keep it coming, the good, the bad, and the ugly! We are trying to make this the funniest (and hardest most frustratingly exciting) game possible so any and all input is amazing.

We have been making a bunch of small updates over the last weeks to improve the game, and we will continue to do so. We fixed a lot of smaller bugs, multiplayer balancing issues, and quality of life improvements. The biggest thing was that we opened up most of the levels from the start, not just the first. (we keep forgetting that we are old school gamers who are used to the progression aspect…) So enjoy the different kinds of zombie mayhem!

That’s it for now. A lot more fun stuff is just around the corner… or so Zombie Santa tells us ;)

Cheers!

Whiskey & Zombies

A Homebrewed Zombie Apocalypse

It all started when the three of us shared a bottle of whiskey and started reminiscing about playing Gauntlet in the arcades back in the day. So we decided we should make a fun, couch co-op game. We are big fans of most things zombies so we figure, why not a different kind of homebrewed zombie apocalypse set in the gritty Deep South. But before we got started, we headed to Louisiana and did the research — tracing the journey the McCrearys would eventually undertake (wIth fewer zombies but probably equal amounts of whiskey).

In Whiskey & Zombies, it turns out that only the McCrearys' illegal whiskey moonshine — Louisiana Sledgehammer — is strong enough to kill the virus. So the plan is simple: Drink. Fight. Stay Alive. But the more you drink, the harder the game is! In this first chapter, the goal is to get the McCrearys on their way home. In this first chapter of their hillbilly saga, they have just flipped their truck outside of New Roads, LA. Now they need to go back into the redneck zombie-infested shithole and retrieve their whiskey if they have any hope of surviving.

Hopefully, we have created a fun, exciting game that combines some laughs with nail-biting moments and the occasional screaming, button-mashing frenzy. We also hope it is just as frustratingly and entertainingly hard as the old arcade games were. (or maybe we just sucked playing them?)

The Demo is the full game but is limited to the number of Zombies you can kill — but you'll be able to drink and brawl your way around enough to have some fun and get a sense of the game. If you even reach the limit... ;)

And we are still evolving the game and gameplay so we appreciate any feedback that could help us improve the game. We are also working on expanding the game to include more game modes such as Last Hillbilly Standing and Survival.

Cheers to the Apocalypse!
