Hello Everyone!

Quick patch notes today addressing some bug fixes. A good amount of these have been plaguing us for a while now so we are very happy to see them resolved.

Below is a changelog:

- Fixed rare bug that caused enemies to get stuck in an idle pose after death causing the player to restart
- Fixed rare bug that caused enemies to spawn outside of a loot room on level four
- Fixed rare bug where the player would get stuck at the bottom of the boss arena
- Fixed bug that caused enemies to spawn in the wall on Pleasant Patch
- Fixed bug that caused arena powerups not to properly trigger
- Fixed arena exploit where players could restart to gain full HP and ammo but keep their round score
- Added level boundaries in several locations to prevent players from getting locked out of a zone

Wholesome Slaughter - Fall Update (2.6)


Hello Everyone!

Since the KOTA Update in late June, our team has been hard at work making quality of life and optimization changes, as well as working on some more significant additions to the game. With the Fall 2.6 Update, players will be able to experience Wholesome Slaughter in a new light!

Below is a changelog:

Arena Mode:
- Terrace Taverns arena complete overhaul
- Fixed leaderboards not displaying properly
- Fixed leaderboards not updating properly
- Fixed bug that caused enemies to spawn in the locked arena starting area (Pleasant Patch)
- Fixed an invisible wall that blocked player projectiles (Pleasant Patch)
- Added music selection option for arena mode (now defaulted to shuffle instead of one song)
- Added voice lines to arena mode
- Added new SFX to arena mode (game starting, round changing, game ending sounds)
- Added new transition from player death to main menu in arena mode
- Tweaked powerup spawn rates in arena mode
- Powerups now slowly fade away if not picked up by the player in arena mode

Campaign:
- Added level selection screen (levels will be unlocked once you reach them)
- Added a new game option to start off fresh from the tutorial (will not wipe unlocked levels)
- Fixed bug that rarely caused some enemies to spawn outside of the map (level three)
- Fixed enemy spawner not always triggering when player picks up machine gun
- Fixed invisible wall that stopped players from backtracking in the tutorial level
- Changed final boss health bar color to better differentiate itself from the color of the sky
- Changed final boss health bar to now also include a name tag above it

Game Wide:
- Added a display for the players dash timer to the HUD
- Added an option for inverting mouse Y controls
- Game will now run when minimized or just out of focus
- Balanced audio levels across the board
- Fixed several lighting related issues
- Fixed some world texture issues
- Fixed bug that allowed bears to walk through crates
- Optimized update calls across the game resulting in better FPS and less stuttering

Wholesome Slaughter - King of The Arena Update (2.5)



Hello Everyone!

Thank you to everybody who has been patiently waiting for a content update to the game and to those of you who are just joining us, you have great timing because the wait is finally over! The King of The Arena is our first major update to Wholesome Slaughter since its release on Steam. We're going to breakdown the entire update in the changelog below but for those of you who want a quick TLDR - This update is bringing a new arena map into the game as well as introducing arena mode powerups, leaderboards, and a ton of optimization and bug fixes.


Below is a changelog:

- New arena map (Pleasant Patch).
- Arena mode powerups (these have a chance of dropping from slain enemies). Powerups are:

  • Instant Kill
  • Lighting Bolt (movement speed)
  • Maximum Ammo
  • Infinite Ammo

We plan on adding more powerups in the near future as well as difficulty multipliers that scale off of round number.

- Arena global leaderboards for rounds survived (one for each map).
- New UI art for menus.
- Fixed a bug where you would start with no pistol ammo in arena mode.
- Fixed a bug where item spawns would stack on top of each other in arena mode.
- Fixed a visual bug where the "low health" screen border wouldn't properly match screen resolution.
- Fixed lighting issue where shadows would be incorrectly drawn.
- Fixed missing pixel in rocket launcher idle animation.
- Game wide optimization using culling to reduce the amount of triangles being drawn on screen, this change will boost FPS in most areas by around 15-20 and in the hardest hit areas, by as much as 50.


So what's coming next? Well in the near future you can expect some small patches and hotfixes covering the new content, as well as some features such as arena mode music settings (allowing for shuffled songs from the OST), a revamped Terrace Taverns (the original arena map), new powerups and added visual/audio aids for all the powerups (old and new), and finally some difficulty multipliers to spice things up.

Everything else is a bit too far down the road for us to talk about yet, but we hope to keep a good pace moving forward from here that will inevitably bring even more content to Wholesome Slaughter.

And of course with the start of the 2021 Steam Summer Sale, Wholesome Slaughter (both the base game and the deluxe edition DLC) will be -25% off for the remainder of the event!
