Update Notes For March 26th

Changelog:

  • Adds trophy spawner in main menu to show series race podiums
  • Adds follow camera height damping - 1: fast, 10: slow
  • Removes series completion requirement to play tracks in single player. All tracks are now unlocked by default
  • Fixed follow camera offset getting set to zero if not set when changes applied (Thanks to user David184 for the report)

  • Added new input system which will be more reliable and extensible
  • Added new input bindings menu so both controller and keyboard can be used
  • Added controller input glyphs to UI elements for Xbox and PlayStation controllers
  • Fixes input bindings save data from getting overridden in some cases when the game launches
  • Fixes replays from getting overwritten in some cases
  • General fixes and improvements

Winter Update

For the past couple of months, we have been working hard to bring you some awesome new updates to Wide Open.
Some of these features include race series against the AI, a replay viewer, rebindable input, and a plethora of other features and improvements.
We now also have an official game server that will show up with a checkmark on the server list, although, multiplayer is still in beta. We plan to spawn more servers in the near future.
We hope you enjoy the new update and we are looking forward to seeing what you create with the new replay viewer.

Here is the changelog for this update:


  • Added race series

    • 8 series that cover all 65 tracks against 11 AI racers
    • Achievements for finishing 3rd or better in each series
  • Added basic replay viewer

    • View the race replay directly after a single player race
    • Save replays from single-player and multiplayer races
    • View and manage replays from the replay menu
    • 4 camera modes
    • Hide UI for an unobstructed view and content creation
  • Added support for Linux
  • Added support for macOS
  • Added rebindable input

    • Input can now be bound to any controls from the settings menu
  • Added terrain deformation distance setting
  • Added enable debug UI setting (FPS, RAM, device details)
  • Fixed AI suspension/wheels not updating for clients
  • Various UI fixes - includes reports listed below

    • AI toggle - replaced with carousel (Reported by ‘Bangers Unlimited 2 Google Play’)
    • Game time stuck at 0 when coming back from settings menu into pause menu (Reported by ‘Saltucius’)
  • Fixed audio not being affected by master volume
  • Beta: Added special icons for official game servers in the server list
  • Beta: Various multiplayer fixes


As a result of significant changes to a good amount of tracks, the leaderboards have been reset. Let’s see some new fast times!

-Adds a ready up UI when joining single-player and multi-player events
-Adds a nice drone camera that runs while the ready up UI is visible
-Adds fade transitions between menus to smooth them out visually
-Fixes multi-player server not being de-listed from server list when the game is exited from the window button

Update Notes for September 11th



Today we are releasing a small content update that also includes a ton of fixes.
First off, we have added a new track, Track33, which features some tough elevations changes and multiple soil types that lead to great racing that is extremely fast and has loads of big air!
By popular demand from players, we have started expanding our camera system. We now have a couple of camera modes that feature our classic top-down camera as well as a follow camera with more camera modes to come in the future.
Lastly, we have brought online racing back with a bunch of server fixes. We know there will be more bugs hiding so please let us know when you come across one!
