Tokyo Games Show (09/28 + 09/29)
Our publisher Daedalic is exhibiting at the Tokyo Games Show this weekend. And of course, they have Wild Woods with them (German Pavilion in Hall 3). Our colleagues and local helpers will be happy to answer your questions and pass on your feedback.
What has happened since last time
Finding and fixing bugs ๐
As often mentioned, playtesting and bug fixing is a constant task for us. Mostly, they are annoying, because we need to reproduce and fix them. However, some of them make a funny picture. See this cat applying for a job as a ballet dancer ๐ฏ
Preparing for Steam Next
In addition to updating the demo, there are also organizational tasks involved in such an event. We had to submit materials, talk about marketing, meet tons of deadlines, and so on.

You can meet our publisher Daedalic in Seattle this weekend. At their booth, you can play Wild Woods. If you have feedback, our colleagues are happy to bring it back to us after the con. We'd love to hear your thoughts on some of the new features ๐ฅฐ๐ค
What has happened since last time
Emote System๐ฌ
We finished the emote wheel by adding some cute graphics and fine-tuning the mechanics. The wheel now has 5 emotes to communicate with other players. For example, to remind them to take care of the fire ๐ฅ๐ชต And for more realistic cat-like communication (and because so many of you asked us to ๐), the wheel also includes the MEOW button ๐ฒ๐ฅณ๐ฏ
Player Upgradesโฌ๏ธ๐บ
We have completed 3 more player upgrades you can receive as a reward after an ambush, or purchase from the merchant or at the campfire. To avoid spoilers, weโll keep them a secret๐คซ Stay curious!
Fire Elaboration๐ฅ
Some changes had to be made to the fire. This includes some technical improvements and new visual effects โจ
Performance Improvements๐ฏ
We finally found one of the most persistent and annoying bugs. Most importantly, we were able to fix it! ๐ ๏ธ๐ As a result, we have a better performance of Wild Woods.
What happens next aka a list of events we'll be attending
We'll be at the Tokyo Game Show from 26/09 to 29/09. This will be our first time in Japan! ๐คฉ
A new Wild Woods Demo will be available during the Steam Next Festival (14/10 - 21/10) ๐ฒ๐ฅณ

What happened since the last time
New visual effectsโจ
The second biome is still in the polishing phase, this month we added new visual effects, among other things. For example: Geysers. When taking on the second boss, you should try to avoid them๐โโ๏ธ๐ This will make the fight even harder!
More path options for the second biome๐พ
In addition to the visual effects, we're adding more modules. Therefore, there are more options on how the second biome can be composed when loading. As a result, the variety of different runs increases ๐ฏ
Roof Top Turret๐๐ฅ
We started working on a new set of wagon upgrades. To get additional support for defending against all enemies, you can buy a turret that goes on top of the wagon. As soon as enemies come within range, the turret will fire at them. Sounds pretty helpful? โ๏ธ๐ฐ
Shoutout to Osmotic Studios๐ฃ
Weโre saying goodbye to our friends at Osmotic Studios ๐ค It's time for them to get back to their own awesome projects (you should definitely check out their games on Steam). We're grateful for their help over the past few months! ๐๐งก Unfortunately, this also means that we're back to having only three developers working on Wild Woods. Therefore, the development of Wild Woods will slow down again.
What happens next
Finishing the Roof Top Turret, so far we have the game mechanics, but it still needs to be balanced and polished
Adding new player upgrades and challenges (this is something we will do from time to time, looking for upgrade/challenge ideas and then working on them. Feel free to share your ideas on our Discord)

What has happened since the last time
Steam Achievements ๐๏ธ
We've already implemented some achievements. When creating them, we tried to make sure that some were easy to achieve and some were more difficult to get. Head over to Discord to share your catastic ideas for more Steam Achievements!
Reroll Token ๐
We added a new currency as you might have seen in Bรผrgermeisters Discord post: the reroll token The reroll token is a reward, like coins or totems. Each token allows you to reroll the shop's selections of upgrades in the safe camp. You can use a reroll token for either player or wagon upgrades, and each reroll gives you three new options ๐ฒ๐ฅ
Notification UI โ๏ธ
What happens if there is a tie at a crossroads? Rosie takes the lead! ๐ Rosie's choice is then displayed in the bottom left corner of the screen. Of course, this notification UI will not only appear for (Rosie's) decisions at crossroads but also when you have purchased upgrades or received buffs.
Opening a Ko-Fi Account โ

Hello to all of you,
aside from the boring business tasks ๐ด, we have been having fun working on the following things:
What we're working on
Shrines
The effects you get as a reward for completing shrines are now a permanent buff. If you're lucky enough to solve one shrine type (e.g. bear, bird or squirrel) more than once, the buffs will add up new effects until the end of your run! ๐ฒ
Totems
We've added new visual effects to the totems to better communicate their mechanics and - more importantly - make them prettier! โจโจ As a refresher, the duck totem heals all players in its area of effect, the thunderbird totem deals damage to enemies, and the hamster totem transports resources your storage ๐ฆโก๐น
Difficulty System
This was one of the most upvoted requests during the playtest. In addition to that, we have also heard the desire for a difficulty system at PAX East (alot). After some brainstorming and reading all your feedback, we decided to implement three different difficulty levels: The one you know from the demo will serve as the "normal" mode. The easy mode will be for beginners or our younger audience. Last but not least: the hard mode for those who want to fight for their lives โ๏ธ๐ก๏ธ
Second Biome๐
There is still some work to do in the second biome to make it even nicer. This includes polishing the boss as well as the game environment.
Tutorial
The tutorial has been updated to include the new mechanics. It now needs some translation work from our external language geniuses ๐ฌ
What happens next
as we added the difficulty system, the next step is setting up a first set of values to balance in the next tests
Add a notification UI that appears when you buy updates, get a buff or choose a direction at the crossroads
