Greetings Jammers,

Today we'd like to introduce you to Jeff AKA JeffVaderJr, a Windjammers enthusiast, and Jam The Wind folks!



Q: Can you introduce yourself in a few words?

J: Heya! I’m Jeff, and I’ve been helping out with gaming events and whatnot since college. I’ve been streaming and experimenting on Twitch, and now help out with the Jam The Wind folks!

Q: When was the first time you played Windjammers and with who?

J: Franke Sisto. That name says it all.
I was at a CSGO/LAN tournament in 2018, playing PUBG and Hearthstone, when this dude calls out that he’ll give $100 to whoever can win a free tournament for Windjammers. I came over and signed up, then ended up running the bracket because Franke had to go back to commentating on the main stage. So I played the game with folks I didn’t know...and at first, didn’t get it.


Q: What was your first reaction?

J: I thought it was fun, but it wasn’t until I got a copy on my Switch that I began to understand and to LOVE the game. At the LAN event, I couldn’t hear the music at all, and to me, that’s huge.
After I started to look for a WJ community in Chicago, XaGrand introduced me to Logan Arcade...and they had a cabinet. So I would come and practice, and run pickup tournaments, and have the time of my life - every time.

Q: How did you react when you heard that WJ2 was in development?

J: You know that Street Fighter cartoon, where Dictator/M. Bison is saying “YES!” while the trumpets are going? Kinda like that.

Q: Do you think Windjammers is a competitive game? If yes, why?

J: Absolutely. The game is all about head-to-head reaction times, where the punishment of being scored upon is quickly dismissed and replaced with the pressure of not slipping up on defense. I played a lot of Quake and Unreal Tournament growing up, and those games feel exhilarating...but ‘Jammers takes place right here, right now.
In your face. There’s nothing quite like it.

Q: How's your relationship with the Windjammers community?

J: I give back what I can, but this community is fantastic. I continue to meet people who play ‘Jammers because they knew this game was a hit from the arcade era. They just want to jam that wind, and they’re willing to teach anyone because anyone can Jam The Wind. I’ve streamed and commentated a lot of their community events, and will continue to do so for quite some time because the people here make everyone feel welcome.

Q: What type of WJ player are you? Mostly defensive-based, attacking-based, and/or all-round player?

J: When I play competitively, I have to be defensive. Usually, I’ll sneak up to the net though, and add pressure for a score or two. Depends on the player.

Q: What are the key requirements to win a match when you're playing on the competitive scene of Windjammers?

J: Defense defense defense. Scoring is nice, but not being scored on is more important. I back up from the net and give myself lots of time to visualize where the disc is going. Another requirement, throwing curves. But that’s just muscle memory, and easy to practice.

Q: Any advice for players who discover Windjammers for the first time?

J: Just play! Goof off with a friend for a while, try all the characters and courts, until the matches start running out the clock instead of reaching 12 points quickly. Play with new people! Every Windjammers Wednesday there is a group of us in a Discord who get together and Jam on the PS4 and Switch ports of the game. Everybody plays a little differently.

Q: Would you like to see Windjammers 2 on the biggest international competitive scene? If yes, why?

J: Yes, easily. There are little pockets of Jammers throughout the world, in Europe (the French are the best, all hail), in North America, in South America, in Japan...just because I haven’t found Jammers throughout the rest of the globe, doesn’t mean they don’t exist. They’re there, and they’re jamming. I would love to see Windjammers be internationally welcomed as football, with each country’s teams facing off in a world tournament. It’s not impossible.

Q: What are your favorite characters and courts?

J: Ahh, Wessel. I keep trying other characters, but the Expert-level German keeps me winning games. It’s all in his legs...hold down the A button on his slide, and you can see how his thighs just keep him GOING and keep the discs from reaching his goal.
Lawn and Concrete are my favorite stages. I love the music on them. The NeoGeoCD version of Lawn has little claps that just solidify how much fun the soundtrack is. (Thank you XaGrand!)

Q: Which former WJ character would you like to see in WJ2?

J: Well, Wessel’s already there, so I guess I have to say Gary Scott. His voice lines are just...beefy. I can’t wait to hear everyone’s voices in Jammers 2. I would love to hear voice-packs in every character’s native language though...imagine Gary Scott saying “Gewonnen!”

Q: Do you think that Windjammers 2 is easy to learn? If yes, why?

J: ‘Jammers 2 is easy to learn if the players learn one button at a time. We joke that Windjammers 1 is a “One-and-a-half button game” simply because you can play the entire game using the A button. So for Windjammers 2, learn the A button first (It shoots, it dashes, it does your taxes!). Then the B button (bump, lob). Then the X button (slap). Then the Y button (jump).

Q: Do you agree with people who say Windjammers is easy to learn but hard to master? If yes, why?

J: Oh yes. I had the honor of getting my...uhh...ego handed to me by the best Windjammers player in the world, Pyrotek. He and I sat in an EVO 2019 hotel room and played something like 30 sets. I beat him...once. He beat me 29 times without breaking a sweat. Afterwards, he informed me that he practices which curves land in which spots based on the location he’s standing in - so that he’s able to get the disc to go ANYWHERE on the court he wants -- INCLUDING THE BUMPER STAGES. That’s mastery.
Meanwhile, I grab two controllers, give one to my dad, and we have ourselves a grand ‘ol time with the exact same game. Easy to learn...takes time to master. All Are Welcome. Thank you Windjammers!

Q: Anything else to say to the Windjammer Community? (veterans and/or newcomers)

J: This game is fun for us, and I’m glad to say that it's fun to simply play. I have lost track of how many times I hurt myself laughing with the rest of the Jam The Wind crew over some ad-lib joke we’ll make about the character interactions, or about how a missed input makes Scott Miller dash away from the disc as if he were terrified of it. As Franke Sisto says, “All Are Welcome.”

Today we'd like to introduce you to Franke AKA MegaphoneFranke, the loudest Windjammers shoutcaster you'll ever meet!



Q: Can you introduce yourself in a few words?

F: My name is Franke (“MegaphoneFranke”) Sisto. I like to think of myself as the voice of the Windjammers community.

Q: When was the first time you played Windjammers and with who?

F: I went to college with a man named Jarret – he goes by the tag of “Jertimus_Warsage.” It was… 2012 I think when he told me that I should go to MAGFest, a big video gaming convention on the east coast of the USA. One of the reasons why I “had to go,” he said, was so that I could try this arcade game that he was introduced to the previous year at MAGFest 2011 (again, I think).

So at MAGFest 2011, some Canadians had brought an arcade cabinet down to the convention with them, and they hosted an impromptu tournament for this game… which was cleaned up by Jarret and his friends. And here’s the best part: Jarret and his boys had only played the game for a single day – yet they made short work of the guys who had been playing the game for years.
So needless to say, I went to MAGFest 2012 with some friends of mine and met Jarret at the convention as he advised. He takes me to the back of the arcade room (a giant American Football Field-sized room FILLED with arcade cabinets of every type) to a small, unlabeled cabinet nearly indistinguishable from any other that surrounded it. And I try the game. That game was Windjammers.

Q: What was your first reaction?

F: All it took was one game. ONE two-out-of-three series. And I was in. I was blown away. I had never seen anything like this game before. Just like Jarret the previous year, I kept on coming back to the cabinet throughout the entire weekend. MAGFest is four days long, so I definitely spent a couple of hours each day in that spot. After that first time, I was introducing everyone I could to the game. I was hooked, and most of the people I showed it to were as well. Cheesy as it sounds, it was… kind of a life-changing experience. The game was FUN. And it had so much heart compared to even other games of its time. When I went back to MAGFest the next year in 2013, the thing I was looking forward to most was playing some Windjammers again.
My origin story is one reason why I try to make tournaments held at MAGFest a big deal.
And then some years later (I want to say late 2015 or early 2016) there was Tony Majors, an arcade vendor who would bring a Windjammers cabinet to the regular Fighting Game Community (FGC) tournaments hosted by Big E in Philadelphia.
That’s where I met the guys from East Coast Jam (Santa with Muscles, Tanguy, Crypt Kiddie, Wiggly, etc. – or “The Delaware Elites” as I call them), and the rest, as they say, is history.


Q: How did you react when you heard that WJ2 was in development?

F: I was in disbelief. The port of the original game to the Playstation 4 in August 2017 was seen by most of us US players as a miracle in and of itself. When we drew a capped 256-player bracket at EVO 2018, we thought that that was going to be it; I was sure that that tournament would be our fifteen minutes of fame before the game would fade into memory once and for all.



But it turned out that lightning was going to strike twice. Our work was just beginning. We’ve always felt that Windjammers deserves a place in the conversation among other marquee eSports games – it brings something to the table, unlike any other experience many have seen. To that end, the community has been doing its best to both grow the scene and sustain that growth, so that we can have a wide player base whenever Windjammers 2 comes out. I want us to take the eSports world by storm, and the announcement of Windjammers 2 gives us a genuine chance to make a big splash and (as dramatic as it sounds) leave our mark on history. I firmly believe that.

Q: Why do you think Windjammers is a competitive game?

F: Windjammers is competitive for the simple fact that it possesses a lot of the qualities that are commonplace in fighting video games (one of the reasons why the game has found its home in the FGC): you have to carefully read your opponent to make sure that they can’t score on you, while at the same time lining up that perfect shot to try and score on them. There are mind games, mixups, footsies as you get into position, and then there’s the flash of the supers, and the precise timing of the super volleys that make the game so fun to watch.

Boiling it down, the game is a test of skill between two players. Who has the better technique? Who has the better reaction time? Who can better think ahead in this ultra-fast game of speed chess? Perhaps most importantly, however, is the fact that there are different “levels” on which the game is played; it is very simple to learn, yet VERY hard to master, which gives it a low skill floor and a seemingly-boundless skill ceiling. And when the original only has a stick and two buttons for its control scheme, it makes it very easy to get a grasp of the basics. So if one is drawn in by the aesthetics and the simplicity of it all, you just build from there!


Q: How's your relationship with the Windjammers community?

F: Despite the persona that I may outwardly project, I do not enjoy “tooting my own horn” – I think that my contemporaries in the American community would give you a more accurate picture. But… I’ll say that I fancy myself as the voice of the community: both in the commentary booth and as an ambassador to other areas of the FGC and eSports in general.

I had to step away for a bit of 2020 to work on myself for a while, and that was hard to do, as all I want is to welcome new players into the scene, teach them the game, and show them that they are welcome with us. I know almost every regular player by name, and I am fortunate to call most of them genuine friends. I want people to have fun with this game that I love, and to be there for people when they need help (even outside of the game). I’m certainly not perfect, but I’m just trying to be the change I want to see in the world. I want to lead this community to something greater than all of us… and I think that a lot of those that know me will say that I’ve tried to do that to the best of my ability.

Q: What type of WJ player are you? Mostly defensive-based, attacking-based, and/or all-round player?

F: Keikun once told me that I play the game like he does: I play based on my emotions. Long story short, if I think something is going to work, I’m going to try it. I’m more known for my antics in front of the camera than I am for my actual skill at the game, so in many ways I guess that makes me somewhat predictable. I use that to my advantage however: I will try and condition you by throwing the disc in the same direction before mixing it up to psych you out. Sometimes I’ll even get into my opponent’s head by talking as I play (though I often don’t realize that I’m doing it). When you hear me say “MONEY!” as I take a shot however (and that call-out is always intentional), it’s when I think I’ve got you where I want you.

Even when I know I’m outclassed in-game, I’ll try to entertain the crowd there live and the people watching the stream at home by playing a character that will make them laugh. I am the joker and that’s a role that I HAPPILY play, but it’s generally agreed upon (last I checked at least) that getting past me in-bracket is the first step to proving yourself as a true force in the scene.

Q: What are the key requirements to win a match when you're playing on the competitive scene of Windjammers?

F: The best key I can give is advice that was given to me by Sandman (who I consider the #4 best player in North America): “Windjammers is a defensive game. Focus on catching the disc. Don’t focus so much on getting it past your opponent, because your opponent is going to screw up eventually.”
Beyond that, I would say to be mindful of your spacing. Always move with a purpose. Oh! And get your curved shots down too – those are going to be your bread and butter.

Q: Any advice for players who discover Windjammers for the first time?

F: Real talk? Just have fun with it. Get into the aesthetic, the feel, and the general wackiness of it all. Don’t focus so much on winning – there’re levels to this, and you’re not going to be an ace right away. You’re going to mess up your curved shots. You’re going to dash at the wrong times. All of that is fine – it happens to even the best of us every now and then. As you learn the game and get more comfortable with the mechanics, you’ll level up and learn things that you couldn’t see before.
Most importantly though? Don’t get discouraged. If you’re in your first bracket (or even if you’re playing online) and you get matched up against a killer for example: don’t give up. Yeah, you might not even be able to score on that particular opponent, but everyone’s got to start somewhere!
Like I said: there are levels to this. We’re all still learning stuff about the game – doubly so because there are so few other experiences like it out there even 27 years later. Join us on our weekly Windjammers Wednesdays meetup (on the Jam the Wind Discord) and we’ll help you practice and get better. Even if you don’t feel like playing the game at that moment, just come and hang out with us. We’re always happy to meet new people.


Q: Would you like to see Windjammers 2 on the biggest international competitive scene? If yes, why?

F: Absolutely! That’s a loaded question right there! The game is very spectator-friendly: even if you don’t know exactly what’s going on, you can appreciate the flashiness of the visual style. And then when you DO learn more about what’s going on, you can appreciate the dexterity and fortitude required of a top-level player, especially considering how fast everything moves and how you have to be ready to make a precise movement with split-second timing. Like I said before: there are levels to this. And seeing how players at the same levels match up with each other is just a joy to watch. I firmly believe that Windjammers 2 can be a force in the world of eSports. The world is going to love this game. The world just doesn’t know it yet.

Q: What are your favorite characters and courts?

F: Anyone who’s seen me play knows that Steve Miller is my go-to. Yeah, I might be a one-trick pony (which is why I’ve tried to work on my Klaus Wessel), but Miller just feels… right to me. He’s the perfect balance of Speed and Power for my playstyle. Mita moves too quickly and Costa moves just a tad too slow. And say what you will about his Custom Super, but I’m a fan of the 50/50 aspect of it. That’s also why I enjoy playing on the Tiled court, or as I like to call it: “MILLER COUNTRY.” If I fire the Custom Super or a Super Lob on Tiled and you guess wrong, you just brought me five points closer to winning! That stage in particular just tailors itself so well to my playstyle (and Miller mains in general).
Oh, and then there’s “The Sisto Psych-Out.” You’ll know it when you play against me.
I also enjoy the odd Concrete game as well. I always say that if you feel like your opponent is just slightly better than you, take them to a bumper stage. Concrete is just a bigger Tiled with bumpers, and I always get a kick out of some of those interactions.
Miss me with that Clay stuff though… that stage is going to give me a heart attack one day.

Q: Which former WJ character would you like to see in WJ2?

F: OK. I got Miller back, and YES, I want to know the story behind that eyepatch, but all I want is to see all of the OGs return. So where’s my G. Scott and J. Costa at?
Oh yeah, and we can’t forget Beeho Yoo either. That guy deserves his time in the spotlight too. Nobody should get left behind. Those are words I try to live by.

Q: Do you think that Windjammers 2 is easy to learn? If yes, why?

F: The short answer is “yes,” though it’s definitely more difficult to learn than the original Windjammers. The addition of the two (really three) new buttons adds so much mixup potential that the competitive implications are limitless. And THAT will be delightful to watch. But at its core, I would say that it’s still easier to learn than your conventional fighting game. So what I would say is to start with the basics (throw, lob, dash), then start working in the newer maneuvers (slapshot, dropshot, jump, meter techniques).
The primary appeal of Windjammers to me is its simplicity and accessibility. And the sequel most certainly keeps that intact. Each button has a specific use based on common situations, and once you learn the basics, you can start changing things up and adding new tactics to your playstyle. The additions to the system make things so much more interesting – I’m eager to see how the meta develops once the final game is released.

Q: Anything else to say to the Windjammer Community? (veterans and/or newcomers)

F: For newcomers: I want to tell them that they are welcome in this community. The motto of the Windjammers community is “All Are Welcome,” and that is something that I try to practice in whatever I do. I hope that people will give the game a chance and spread the word just like my friend Jarret did for me almost a decade ago. It’s never too late to play the game, and we’ll be here waiting for you whenever you come.
For veterans: our work is just beginning. It’s our job to welcome new players into the scene and show them the ropes. This game will live and die with our devotion to it: if we want this classic to break into the modern world of eSports, it’s going to be on us as a community to make this happen. We can do this. But we need to do it together.

MEET OUR COMMUNITY #2 - Mike Bisson AKA Mohawkmike

Windjammers 2 demo is over for a week now. But our community lives on and the hype remains!

Windjammers community is like a big international family that welcomes anybody feeling the need to jam the wind, learn basics, all mechanics, and tricks to become a true champion.

Today we'd like to introduce you to Mike Bisson AKA Mohawkmike, a fan of competitive gaming, wrestling, and pizza!



Q: Can you introduce yourself in a few words?

M: My name is Mike Bisson but everyone knows me as Mohawkmike. I'm a fan of Competitive Gaming, Professional Wrestling, and Pizza. I've been running gaming events/tournaments since the early 2000s and have been lucky enough to do it for a living full time since 2014.

Q: When was the first time you played Windjammers and with who?

M: The first time I played Windjammers was at my local arcade in Cincinnati, OH by the name of Arcade Legacy. I was running an overnight PC LAN Party in the arcade and as a bonus, Jesse Baker, owner of Arcade Legacy, left all of the cabinets on for us. We organized a mystery game tournament and the first game Jesse suggested be played was Windjammers. It was love at first sight and the mystery game tournament quickly turned into just a Windjammers tournament. Arcade Legacy got such a big following for Windjammers that we started organizing eight week long tournament seasons that culminated in the "Wimbledon of Windjammers".

Q: What was your first reaction?

M: The beautiful thing about Windjammers, aside from the aesthetics and gameplay, is that its so intuitive. I instantly knew looking at the game that anyone could play it and have a blast. From that moment on I had to spread the word and get others involved.

Q: How did you react when you heard that WJ2 was in development?

M: I lost my mind! So much passion and effort have been put in by the community to just keep people playing the game but now that we are getting a sequel it's like getting to show the world your newborn child.

Q: Why Windjammers is a competitive game?

M: Windjammers is competitive because of its straightforward game mechanics and tournament ruleset. Additionally, while there are indeed top tier players, we've seen time and time again that someone who has just learned how to play the game can also place high in tournament standings. You never know who the next Windjammers legend will be!

Q: How's your relationship with the Windjammers community?

M: Incredible! I'm so thankful to be a part of the Windjammers community. It's one of the most welcoming, creative and outlandish groups I've ever belonged to. Best part is it continues to grow. I feel very lucky to have had so many amazing opportunities with Windjammers and I'm ecstatic to pay it forward and create opportunities for others.

Q: What type of WJ player are you? Mostly defensive-based, attacking-based, and/or all-round player?

M: While I'd like to think of myself as an all-around player, I recognize I'm a super offensive player. I mash the heck out of that A button!

Q: What are the key requirements to win a match when you're playing on the competitive scene of Windjammers?

M: Split second hand-eye coordination will do more for you than anything else. Also, you will not always know your opponent in a tournament setting so identifying and reacting to their playstyle is paramount. Lastly, being calm under pressure is incredibly important once all eyes are on you. Can't let the bright lights and crowd noise distract you.

Q: Any advice for players who discover Windjammers for the first time?

M: Never get discouraged. Windjammers is the definition of "easy to learn, hard to master". Think of it more like a traditional sport instead of a video game. Some days you can't be beat but on others, it takes everything you have to score a goal. Last, but most importantly, HAVE FUN! Get involved with the community and make a few friends while you're at it.

Q: Would you like to see Windjammers 2 on the biggest international competitive scene? If yes, why?

M: Yes, with all of my heart. If you had told me when I started running Windjammers tournaments at my local arcade for a handful of players I'd one day organize and run 256 player tournaments at EVO two years in a row I wouldn't have believed you but here we are. Things can only go up from here and anything is possible. The passion and personalities within the competitive Windjammers scene cannot be denied and should be seen by the world.

Q: What are your favorite characters and courts?

M: Hands down Biaggi is my favorite character. I love his perfect balance of speed and strength. As for courts, Tiled feels like my second home but I'm also a big fan of Clay because of how crazy Biaggi's super reacts with the bumpers. All of that said, since getting hands-on with the Demo of Windjammers 2 I am quickly becoming a fan of Max Hurricane. He's not only got that Pro Wrestler swagger but he can also DROPKICK THE DISC! I really look forward to playing him more.

Q: Which former WJ character would you like to see in WJ2?

M: I feel like saying Biaggi is somewhat underwhelming because we've already seen him in a previous gameplay video but of course I want to play him in Windjammers 2. I'll be happy seeing all of the original characters alongside the new jammers.

Q: Do you think that Windjammers 2 is easy to learn? If yes, why?

M: Yes, Windjammers 2 is an easy game to learn. My theory has always been once you've played Windjammers for 10 minutes you have all the foundation you'll need to build upon. I've loved seeing new players getting caught up in the hype of the demo and look forward to many more getting hands-on with the game. Most importantly, the community is so welcoming that it eliminates any potential hurdles for new players. I myself have had several online matches where I played slower than normal so that my opponent can get a better understanding of the game and controls. If you want to learn more you can play against the AI but there will always be someone you can reach out to teach you as well.

M: Thank you so very, very much to everyone who has been playing since the arcade days, to those who are just picking up the game, and those that have traveled to participate in tournaments around the world. I have so many incredible memories and friends because of this amazing game. Regardless of what comes next, we'll always have each other. JAM ON!

MEET OUR COMMUNITY #1 - ELEAZAR (FRANCE)

"All good things come to an end"...that's what people say. Anyway, Windjammers 2 demo is almost over. But thanks to you, the hype will remain stronger than ever.

Today we'd like to introduce you to Eleazar, a French player who has a thing for Bumpers and Clay and who loves competing for his crew, Windjammers France.




Q: Hi! Can you introduce yourself in a few words?

E: I'm Eleazar, a French player from Windjammers France. I'm a bumpers enthusiast. Do you have some time to talk about our Lord and Savior Clay?

Q: When was the first time you played Windjammers and with who?

E: I discovered Windjammers in Arcade Street in 2012, a now-closed Parisian arcade. That was a free play night with a lot of good games. I was instantly hooked to the cabinet with my big brother and we spent all night playing it.

Q: What was your first reaction?

E: I loved how simple it was to play. I knew we could play with all our friends and spread the game because of that. It became the party night game in a few weeks.

Q: How did you react when you heard that Windjammers 2 was in development?

E: I lost my mind because the port of the original game was already a blessing for us that run tournaments without having easy access to the original hardware. I never thought we would get a sequel so fast. Most of the organizations that host Windjammers in France are retro events so the potential to go in more popular events and make the community bigger was very appealing to me.

Q: Why do you think Windjammers is a competitive game?

E: It's a perfectly balanced versus game. A match is about focus, execution, and mind games between you and your opponent. You can react to anything your opponent throws at you if you are in a good position. It's a perfect cocktail for competition.

Q: How's your relationship with the Windjammers community?

E: I've been part of the French community since 2014. I've been running as TO all major French tournaments (Stunfest, HFS) since 2016 and I'm semi-active as a player. I'm also sometimes a commentator. I was among the few French players that traveled to the USA for the first Flying Power League to meet the NA community. Some of them returned the favor by joining our Windjammers National French Cup "Discmania" which was a real highlight. Our communities are bonded so I'm a bit involved with the NA community too.

Q: What type of player are you? Mostly defensive-based, attacking-based, or an all-round player?

E: My main character has been Klaus "the German Wall" Wessel for years so I guess that makes me a defensive player.

Q: What are the key requirements to win a match when you're playing on the competitive scene of Windjammers?

E: You need a flawless focus and to stay calm in every situation.

Q: Any advice for players who discover Windjammer for the first time?

E: Take your time to learn the basic mechanics, the curves, and your positioning. Learn the shot patterns so you can read them and know how to react accordingly. Also, work that defense a lot! The advanced stuff will come later but foundations are the most important.

Q: Would you like to see Windjammers 2 on the biggest international competitive scene? If yes, why?

E: I hope so. Most of what I do thanks to Windjammers is meeting people from different places attending or organizing tournaments. The more it shines, the more opportunities I get.

Q: What are your favorite characters and courts?

E: I have a love/hate relationship with K. Wessel but he has been my main character for years. My favorite character is L. Biaggi for obvious bumpers reasons. I also enjoy playing S. Miller for fun sometimes. My favorites fields are Clay and Lawn.

Q: Which former Windjammers character would you like to see in Windjammers 2?

E: The Dog!

Q: Do you think that Windjammers 2 is easy to learn? If yes, why?

E: Windjammers 2 add some new mechanics and buttons so it's obviously a bit less accessible than the OG game. But the core gameplay is still based on air hockey and stays simple and accessible in my opinion.

Q: Anything else to say to the Windjammers Community (newcomers and/or veterans)?

E: If you are a newcomer and discovered the game through the demo, I would advise you to join the existing communities because you will learn a lot from them. They are not that hard to find.

WINDJAMMERS 2 FREE DEMO PLAYABLE DURING STEAM GAME FESTIVAL

Greetings Jammers,

We're thrilled to announce that Windjammers 2 demo will be playable for FREE during the Steam Game Festival starting today @ 10 AM PST until February 9th @ 10 AM PST.

We are also pleased to confirm that our demo features the long-awaited rollback netcode that our wonderful community requested last year as well as:

Three playable characters: Hiromi Mita, Klaus Wessel, Max Hurricane
Three stages: Beach, Ring (NEW), Stadium
Two modes: Versus (IA & Player) and Online (quick match only)

Windjammers 2 - Release date postponed to 2021

Greetings everyone,

For the first time ever since its official reveal, Windjammers 2 was playable at Steam Summer Festival last June. Many of you jumped in this online event and we can't thank you enough for that!

You share a lot of positive feedback on the overall direction of Windjammers 2 (game design, gameplay, etc.) but also mixed opinions that caught our attention.

We analyzed in depth all these mixed opinions regarding some stuff including the lack of rollback for the online mode, which was unanimously praised in everyone's feedback.
We had to do something because Windjammers 2 online mode is also meant to encourage the competitive community to get into the game.

We started to fix and add what was necessary. Nevertheless, these changes caused delays and as a result, forced us to postpone the release date to 2021.

This decision is a tough one and it has serious consequences for all of us but we think it's fair enough if it allows us to give you the Windjammers 2 you expect and deserve.

Windjammers 2 is an ambitious project that we love and that we cannot ruin with wrong decisions that could jeopardize its quality.

We hope that you understand our decision and that despite the delay, you'll enjoy this new adventure with family, friends or rivals.

We'll give you news about the game more regularly (content, characters, stages, etc.) and we apologize for our silence which lasted far too long.

The release date will be revealed in due time and whenever it's set in stone, we'll let you know.
