An update to Windlands 2 has been released and will be automatically downloaded if your platform is set to auto download.
Welcome to the post launch patch Hunters! There’s a lot to get through in this release, see below for all changes & fixes.
Your feedback is crucial in refining the Windlands 2 experience. Please keep it coming and enjoy the game, thank you for all your support!
Fixes
- Fixed an issue when completing the game and re-entering the final portal was broken, it has now been repaired.
- Fixed an issue with people getting stuck in Race mode if the host quits.
Crossplay has been improved and now supports more than 2 players more efficiently.
- Fixed incorrect controller icons in SteamVR interface.
- Haptics for landing are now working as expected.
- It’s now harder to pull yourself into the ground with grapples.
- If you exited the game post entering the Desert the "Find Rah" quest marker could disappear, it now stays on as it should.
Changes
- We have adjusted the movement system to have stronger brakes when sliding or landing on the floor, just push the movement in the opposite direction, the more you push the joy / pad the more of a brake will apply, this should allow almost instant breaking and stopping on an edge without sliding off.
- We have reduced the bounce when landing with high impact.
- We have added a turning sensitivity dial, this can also be be turned down to 0 to effectively stop all turning on controllers if you wish. This can also be achieved with layouts.
- We have slightly tweaked the hand positions to better represent the controller positions.
- We have improved the “pull into the ground” when holding down the extend hooks button.
- We have added an objective marker for the first part of entering the desert as some people found it confusing that the objective was only shown when venturing further into the desert.
- Once you have completed the starting options wizard, the subsequent times start at the single or multiplayer panel, you can still step backwards if you wish.
- Doors have been made a little easier on Normal and Easy.
- The Options Menu dials can now be turned fingers first or palm first orientations as some people naturally grab the dial with palm.
- We have added some more official layouts into Steam Input 2.0, this include touch to move layouts.
- We have removed almost all Parkour on Normal and Easy modes, lots of people find parkour is not what they want, we have kept parkour in hard mode as it adds extra difficulty.
- We have added lots of bushes into the Mountain Section for Normal and Easy mode to make this area less frustrating and not be a blocker to completing the game.
- The final door has been made easier to open.
- We have adjusted the new game difficulty choice to make it more obvious that hook anything and perma-death modes are available in the advanced options.
- The final boss difficulty has been reduced on Normal and Easy mode to be less frustrating.
- The first boss speeds have been reduced on Normal and Easy mode, newcomers found the first encounter too hard. (tip : use the cover!)
- The Grapple indicators have been modified to make it clearer which is the left and right.
- The Calculation for the Grapple indicators has been improved to make it more accurate to see when you can be assured of a grapple.
- We have added a Host Game button when no games are found.
- Controller orientation movement has been modified to ignore tilting, this is especially useful on Knuckles Controllers.

Happy Holidays! : Upcoming WIndlands 2 Post Launch Patch
Hi everyone and a big Happy Holiday Season to you all!
Since our launch here on Steam, the community has been amazing in sharing invaluable feedback with us about your experiences and what other additions you'd like to see in the game.
Our post launch patch will focus on fixing bugs, grappling difficulty balances, and introducing additional bindings for Vive users who prefer room scale movement / turning.
The patch will soon go through internal testing. Currently we do not have an exact release date however, we are working hard to get it into your hands as soon as possible.
We'd also like to say a big thank you to Earthican, Trash (Remastered) & Leviateinn our Community Discord Admins who have been building the community & helping current and new Hunters alike, you are all awesome!

Windlands 2 Is Now Available!
Version 2.2.0
15-Nov-2018
Welcome to launch day apprentice Hunters!
An update to Windlands 2 has been released and will be automatically downloaded.
Changes
Crossplay (BETA): We are happy to include cross platform multiplayer which is currently limited to 2 players only. We wanted to get it into your hands quickly so we can gather feedback and iterate.
Windlands 2 is a peer to peer (Host and clients) game, we have implemented our own server which is very much in beta, you may experience firewall issues etc, but in our testing we are happy that this allows players from Steam and Oculus to enjoy the game with our own VOIP too, bandwidth as always will improve your experience, enjoy!
- Our internal VOIP has now been updated to work as a Mesh rather than Host and Client setup.
Fixes
- Fixed a hack in racing where you could finish the race very quickly and removed the offending times. (many thanks to Vidman).
- Fix to Haptics strength for each platform.
- Rope angle now works as expected.
- Prologue now shows a generic menu icon rather than the X icon when on Steam.
- A fix for Smooth and Snap turn status being kept between sessions that affected some people.
- A fix for some areas not activating the cursor color change for some hookable bushes.
Steam VR Support
- HTC Vive, Oculus and Microsoft MR support.
- LIV Support (on OpenVR).
- Addition for dead zones to help with controllers that don’t quite settle to 0.
Steam Input 2.0 (Including Knuckles support for those who already have the test products), includes the ability to make your own layouts.
- LOD support for very high resolution HMD’s (we expect to keep tweaking this for optimal performance).
- Tutorial diagrams now change for each supported platform.
- Respawn improvements to better support room scale.
Many thanks for your continued support on our journey!
Enjoy!
