Wings VR

Build 0.30.1

Changelog

- Implemented Flight Angle Limit. This adds a soft cap to your wing's rotation, preventing overexaggerated movement from killing your speed. The default limit for new players is 30 degrees, while the most advanced setting is 90 degrees. This value can be modified in the Adjust Wings menu. In a future update, you will increase this value by training your wings like a muscle, allowing them to be more flexible over time.
- Added new Wing models made by Blueberry
- Reduced the amount of movement needed to activate wing form bonuses
- Adjusted Super speed trigger to be more consistent
- Adjusted acceleration for super speed to apply over a short interval instead of immediately, increased the amount
- Improved the rate of acceleration for wing flaps
- Adjusted the flight bar UI to be less thicc
- Fixed a small issue with collider baking
- Fixed a few campaign-related issues

Wings Build 0.30

Wings Build 0.30 Changelog

Campaign
- Added a Campaign Mode. Playing the campaign allows you to complete objectives in different cities. Completing campaign objectives unlocks more challenges.
- Right now, most of these objectives involve visiting landmarks, flying up mountain ranges, or traveling from one city to another. More advanced campaign objectives will be added in a later update. Currently there are 25 Challenge objectives in North America.
- Campaign is online by default, but is not required. An option may be added to make campaigns an offline experience.

Pickups
- Added speed boost pickups which are spread out randomly across the map. Speed boost pickups immediately boost the player's current and max speed.
- Pickups are distributed based on a seed derived from your coordinates, making it predictable. Different types of pickups are planned for a future update.

UI/Menu Overhaul
- Replaced "Learn" with "Play" and added new gamemodes (Campaign, Training, Races)
- Improved visuals of some menu panels
- Added distance and count text for display objectives
- Added near-fade effect to wing trails (helps third-person mode visibility)

Flight
- Reverted several changes made for the demo. Good form system no longer reduces your drag and has a limit based on your current speed.
- Fixed an issue which caused you to lose speed from normal flapping (even with good form).

Demo/Training Mode
- Integrated the demo experience into the new training mode
- Added a ring course to the demo right before the last part
- Switched the order of some demo objectives
- Implemented a skip to the full game preview at the end (click on the globe to skip through)

Performance
- Seamless collider generation implemented: baking colliders is now done off the main thread via a Job System, removing all hangups from world generation.

Playtest build 0.29

Flight
- Improved flight mechanics to promote good form. Build up good form by flapping up and down to enable super speed, allowing you to auto-accelerate without creating drag, and breaking the speed limit depending on how much good form is built. The form bonus gradually reduces over time (reduces faster at higher values), and resets to zero when pulling your wings back to slow down.
- Implemented a flyer guide which can be toggled on/off on the display menu. The flyer guide shows your wing positions, flight angle, and form in a simple UI panel that helps you fly optimally.
- Added a gust of wind when creating a significant amount of drag. (This will become an important game mechanic in future updates)
- Increased turn speed when wingspan is shortened by raising one wing and lowering the other.
- Added fast wind particles, reduced amount of normal wind particles when going fast.
- Added a sound effect when triggering super speed.

Tutorial
- Added challenge objective text and arrow indicator for tutorial challenges. Removed temporary screen messages.
- Reduced the delay in which you can begin flying in the tutorial from 15 seconds to 1 second.
- Changed the giant tutorial gate into a simple UI location.
- Removed learn menu being the first menu for new players.
- Updated the objective arrow model.

Camera
- Removed/reworked joystick camera movement.
- Implemented camera movement on left joystick. Click the joystick to switch between VR, third person, and static.
- Implemented flyer movement and rotation on right joystick. When released, the player matches the flyer's rotation.
