Hi everyone :vintysmile:. Vinty's third adventure kicks off in less than four days! With that on the horizon, I want to answer a few questions that will no doubt pop up on release date.

1) Chinese translations:



I am deeply sorry to say there are no Chinese translations available this time around. There are several reasons for this:

Reason 1: WOWI 3's script is double the length of WOWI 2's, so translation costs will be bumped up accordingly.

Reason 2: With WOWI 2, I had received some feedback regarding the quality of the Chinese translations. My Chinese knowledge is limited, so I unfortunately cannot review the script on my own.

Reason 3: As hinted above, I cannot cover the translation costs for such a niche series. I love Vinty as much as anyone, and I hope someday, our community as a whole will have a bigger reach.



2) Trading cards:



I have trading cards, emoticons and badges ready for WOWI 3 :excelia:! However, Steam has updated its trading card policy recently:

At the moment, Without Within 3 has been marked as not eligible for trading cards. Hopefully post release, the situation can be improved, then I can submit the pack for approval from Valve.

Without Within 3: Location scouting



Without Within 3 takes place in Singapore and Malaysia. As Vinty travels to different locations, players will be able to view the real-life counterparts via YouTube.

When we use real locations, there is an extra layer of complexity involved. Is it okay to feature these iconic sights in your game? Hey, just ask. Look up a website, and chances are, there will be an address you can use to contact the staff.



Some companies will straight up say yes, while others may ask some questions first. In WOWI3’s case, the illustrations often have to be sent over for approval. It is better to take things one step at a time. If someone requests edits to your finalized artwork, that would be a waste of both time and money.



By the time I sent out permission requests for Without Within 3, I had already returned from Singapore and Malaysia. Several companies had offered to grant me free entry into their venues (for research), but I was unable to take advantage of these offers. You may want to take this into consideration for your own projects.

I am not romantic enough for the muse, so I instead focus on research and practice. That way, when the time comes to execute, I will have my fundamentals to rely upon. For Without Within 3, however, things were a bit different.

I was on a trip to Malaysia two to three years back. One night, I came across a beach in Penang, and things suddenly clicked. How about a calligrapher ghost sighting? Who, what, how—the hard work came afterward with conscious plotting, but the initial concepts had flooded in without effort.

From that moment on, I started to study the benefits of the subconscious. Before the trip, I must have thought, “You know, a third game would be nice round about now.” Then I put that aside and let instincts go to work. When the time is right, I trust the answers will surface on their own.

I am still not romantic enough for the muse, but when it calls, I am running with it all the way.
