Another small but important update for Woodfel today! I've added a shortcut key for quick inventory transfer, and improved some networking of inventory item moves.
You can now ctrl-click to instant transfer items from your personal inventory to a world inventory and vice-versa. There is a new key define so if ctrl doesn't work for you, you can change it to something else.
This was a long-requested feature which makes inventory management a bit nicer.
Enjoy! :D
Woodfel 1.02 Update Patch Notes
Hi everyone,
This is another small update for Woodfel. I've added a UI scaling slider to the in-game settings, which allows you to make the UI smaller (quite nice for larger screens). I have also fixed the position of the admin button (visible to server admins by using the /admin command in the chat window), which was accidentally hidden behind the expanded hud menu buttons.
Enjoy!
Woodfel 1.01 Update Patch Notes
Hi all,
This is just a small patch to add a Discord link into the game main menu, tether the Quest NPC's so they don't wander off too far, and switch the macOS build to use the Metal renderer by default (this disables grass on Metal as the shader is unsupported, but increases the framerate considerably).
I hope people have been enjoying the game so far! Thanks!
Woodfel 1.0 is Out Now!
Hi everyone!
The Woodfel 1.0 update is now live! This update will bring an end to our time in Steam Early Access and takes the game into full release.
This huge update brings an all-new quest system to the game, allowing you to experience the story of Woodfel as you help different NPC's and factions, and earn quest rewards for your efforts!
There is now also a completely revamped tutorial and help system, which should give players a better introduction to the features of the game, such as combat, crafting, and the different ways to build things!
I hope you all enjoy the update!
Full changelog:
Major New Features:
- NPC’s, Quest System & Storyline - Several NPC’s (Non-player characters) can now be found in Woodfel. These NPC’s will offer quests (if they have an exclamation mark over their head) which will take you through the tutorial and on to the main questline. The main story quest will introduce you to the major factions and have you investigate some strange goings on in the land of Woodfel!
- New tutorial & Help System - There is now a slightly more hand-holding tutorial to help players get acquainted with the game and controls. A more informative help section has also been added to the escape menu.
- Creature Gang Events - Several new events added which can be completed by defeating the specified group of creatures in the target area. A reward chest will appear after the last creature has been defeated.
Additions:
- Large Wooden Chest recipe can now be bought from either faction merchant, allowing you to store more items in one place!

- Coal and Iron deposits will now occasionally spawn on the surface.
- Added several eyepatch vanity items so you can be more like a pirate.

Hello everyone!
I'm pleased to announce that Woodfel version 1.0 is launching on July 28th!
This is a massive update to Woodfel with the following major new features:
An all-new quest system with NPC's, and a main story quest to play through.
A completely revamped tutorial to introduce players to the game in a more engaging way.
New multi-creature world events with rewards.
Lots of new items, including vanity, and a new combat ability.
There have also been many smaller improvements, bug fixes and quality-of-life changes which will be detailed in full in the coming days!
I hope you enjoy the update when it arrives!
Woodfel Version 0.847 - Achievements
Hey Woodfolks!
This months update brings a couple of new small features, some tweaks & bug fixes, and the addition of Steam Achievements to Woodfel!
There are 18 achievements to earn, including two hidden ones for you to discover! The achievements are for crafting, building, gearing up and for defeating certain boss creatures, so get out there and earn them!
The other changes are:
- Added a new chat tab for miscellaneous messages - which should make player chat more obvious. Chat tabs have a small indicator to alert the player to unread messages. - Added a world online status indicator to the world name panel. This will indicate if you are playing offline, hosting a server, or connected to a server. - Fixed a bug where your current crafting recipe would deselect when learning or discovering a new recipe. - Dropped items will now begin blinking when they are due to despawn, and should not fall through the world anymore. Items which do manage to fall out the world will respawn above. - Early crafting station items have been reduced to Superior item rarity, reflecting their easier to craft status. - Multiple players can now get reputation (and achievement) credit for killing creatures together.
This update may be the last with Woodfel in Early Access too! I've got a few more small things to work on but I soon plan to take Woodfel out of early access and up to version 1.0.
Hope you enjoy the update :D
Woodfel Version 0.846 - Vanity Layer Update
Hey Woodfolks!
This update brings another long-requested feature to Woodfel; A vanity equipment layer!
Now on your character panel (default C key) you will see a new tab called Vanity. On this tab you can equip any head, outfit, hand or accessory items to visually override your equipment!
Note that items equipped on the vanity tab will have their stats disabled if they have any. Your main equipped items will keep using their stats though, just make sure they are used on the equipment tab.
This should let players look just the way they want to, without having to sacrifice style for stats!
Hope you enjoy the update!
Woodfel Version 0.845 Patch Notes
Hey Woodfolks!
This is another small quality-of-life build for Woodfel mostly addressing world save management.
- Added a small bin button to each world listed in the load game panel. This allows you to delete worlds which are broken or you no longer need. There is a confirm dialog, but it is a permanent delete so use carefully.
- Incomplete worlds will now be listed. These are usually worlds which have been generated but did not get saved. If you want to use their world name you must delete them first.
- Fixed a small visual UI glitch when opting to replay the tutorial.
- Secondary axis for camera & character movement are now unbound by default to avoid unexpected controller input.
- Added tooltips for empty character equipment slots to say which type of gear they are for.
- Added tooltips for farm & smelter slots to say what each slot is for.
- Dark Hedgehogs will no longer flee when their health is low.
Hope this update helps with some issues players have experienced!
Woodfel Version 0.844 - Map Feature Update
Hey Woodfolks!
This update finally brings a long awaited feature to Woodfel, an in-game map!
When you jump back into the game you'll see a slightly re-arranged HUD menu to make room for the new map button. Open the map (you can also use a shortcut, default the M key) and you'll see the world map.
The map can either follow your location, or remain static and allow you to pan around. On the map you'll see player locations & directions, your home point, and the locations of any active world events!
You can also toggle the map between a large and small size, which is handy when you want to keep the map view open while running about.
The map is a great way to find your way around, find your friends, and get a birds eye view of your creations!
Hope you enjoy the update!
Woodfel Version 0.843a Patch Notes
Hi everyone! This patch adds keybinding to Woodfel. This should allow people to configure the game controls to suit them a little more.
To rebind controls, start or load a game and in the settings panel you will see a button to edit keybinds. Then simply click one of the control keybinds to change it to a different key or button.
This does add some basic controller support to the game (best when using alt camera mode), though really only for moving around, using items/abilities on the action bar, or interacting with the world.
Menu, UI & inventory controls are still all mouse based.
I also fixed a small bug with the 'Message of the Day' feature, where it would append an empty line to the MOTD each time to world was loaded.
