Worbital Beta Patch 0.84.2668_Beta2 - Reverted, read full details below!

We had to revert back to the previous build due to a nasty bug that only appeared in Steam build and thus didn't get caught in our internal testing.

We will fix the bug as soon as possible, but due to weekend this is likely to be next week. We will repost the changelog when the bug is fixed. Stay tuned, thanks for the patience and happy blasting!

Worbital Beta Update #1, 0.83.2648_Beta2 - Loadout Edit and New Weapons



It’s been a week since we launched the Worbital public beta, so it’s a good moment to add more spice to it. Today we put out our first beta update!

At the beta launch, there was a set building loadout for each of the factions. With this update we add more structures, so, naturally, we add the loadout editing feature as well. You can now customize your loadout in the Battle Kit menu before a match.
Each of the factions got several new structures to build, which include: new power plants, new support structures, guns and defenses. Also, some of the old and familiar buildings are now available to more factions. For instance, Orbit Boost is now available for Terrene as well as the Celestials.

  • Features

    • Added new structures for each Faction

      • Terrene: Solar Plant, Big Shot, Autocannon, Orbit Boost
      • Lucid: Nuclear Plant, Big Shot, Fragmenter, Mining Probe
      • Celestials: Solar Plant, Defense Orbs, Homing Missile

    • It’s now possible to choose, edit and save Loadouts in the Battle Kit

  • Fixes

    • Queued games should no longer constantly get stuck during the loading screen

      • Games where a player disconnects during the loading screen may return the other players to the main menu instead of starting the game. A more permanent fix will be implemented in a future update.

    • Nuclear Missiles and Steer Missiles can now be piloted until their destruction even after the player has lost all their planets
    • Autocannon can no longer be activated unless it has at least one full activation charge
    • Orbit Boost should no longer occasionally boost the planet in the wrong direction
    • Planet Anchor now applies its slow effect properly when hitting a structure

  • Adjustments

    • Adjusted the movement and rotation speeds of moons and gas planets
    • Increased the amount of time it takes to automatically unlock Tier III
    • Increased Terrene and Celestial Refinery’s Funds generation at tech levels 1 and 2.
    • Increased the Lucid Refinery’s HP and adjusted the Funds generation to have less variance between different tech levels.
    • Decreased Laser’s HP and added a cooldown between activations
    • Decreased Colonizer’s, Evacuator’s and Terraformer’s HP
    • Decreased the uptime of Shield Defense
    • Moved some of Terrene Fragmenter’s damage from its fragments to the main projectile
    • Increased Defense Burster’s range and projectile size
    • Decreased Defense Burster’s damage and area of effect slightly
    • Autocannon now has a second charge at tech level 3
    • Evacuator now terraforms planets much faster
    • Decreased the uptime of Laser Blade
    • Increased Planet Anchor’s damage against structures
    • Increased Glacier’s freeze AoE at tech levels 1 and 2, but decreased its damage slightly



Overall, the beta has been going really great! Initially, we had humble expectations, but, to our surprise, we managed to gather over a thousand beta testers in the first week alone. Thanks to everyone who has joined and to everyone active on Discord. Worbital is already building up an active and friendly community, not to mention the useful feedback. We have already fixed some of the bugs and issues pointed out on Discord (see patches #1 & #2) and there are more fixes coming in this update.

We’re planning to put out another update soon. No major features, but we are adding a couple of real fun weapons. Hint: they will ram your mind away.

    Features

    • Added structure information to the Battle Kit screen when hovering over structures

    Fixes

    • The camera should no longer get stuck when spectating
    • Right-clicking on a sector and then hovering another one should no longer cause the wrong structure to be the recipient of a targeted action (such as selling).
    • The Tutorial no longer gets stuck if you are defeated
    • You can no longer accidentally exit the match ending screen before the animation has played out

    Adjustments

    • Autocannon’s Funds gained on hit has been greatly reduced
    • LineBurster has been renamed to Fireworks
    • Adjusted the Tutorial AI to be more gentle

It's been a few days since the launch of Worbital beta and it's been great! Thank you for playing and giving us your feedback. Today we're putting out the first patch for the beta, including fixes to some of the bugs you reported on our Discord server.

  • Features

    • Custom Games now support games with a password

  • Fixes

    • Fixed various issues in creating and starting Custom Games
    • Planet sectors can now be highlighted and clicked from further away when accessing the planet in the world
    • Shooting weapons at their minimum forces at extreme angles should no longer cause projectiles to hit your own Core
    • The UI should no longer get stuck if a Nuclear Missile or Remote Missile gets destroyed immediately after launching it
    • Nuclear Missiles and Remote Missiles should no longer sometimes hit your own planet when launching them
    • Removed unintended extra announcements about unlocked Tiers
    • Lifetime statistics should now be recorded correctly
    • Many resolutions (such as ultra-wide resolutions) that previously had problems should now work properly
    • Failed colonizations (such as hitting the sun or the asteroid belt) should no longer prevent the match from ending

  • Adjustments

    • Reduces the HP of defensive structures
    • Colonization pods now deal small amounts of damage when they hit a non-terraformable planet
    • Reduced Laser Blade’s maximum angle slightly
    • Increased the recharge time of Laser Blade slightly
    • Decreased the slowing effect of Planet Anchor
    • Planet Anchor now has two charges across all tech levels
    • Multigun now shoots one of its projectiles accurately along the targeted trajectory
    • Increased Remote Missile damage
    • Various small adjustments to balance
    • Various adjustments to audio

Worbital Public Beta is Open Now, Join on Discord!



Let the cosmic mayhem begin! We are rolling out the Worbital public beta and we invite you to join.

With the launch of the complete game still some time ahead, we thought it would be great to take Worbital out for a test-drive. Starting today, we make a limited version of the game available through Steam. You can sign up by joining our Discord server and requesting a key. The public beta version of Worbital is different from the one that will be available for purchase at release, as Worbital is still work in progress. Currently it has limited weapon loadout and online multiplayer mode only. Gradually we will introduce more features into the game through regular updates. This will help keep the testing more focused on specific features at certain times. During the beta run, you can expect to see AI and Local Multiplayer modes, as well as additional weapons and a few other things. The beta will become unavailable shortly prior to the final release. After that, Worbital will only be available through purchase. More additions will come to the final game, let them remain a surprise for now.

As the testing goes on, we’ll ask you to fill in a few tester surveys for us, so we can get as much as possible useful info to improve the game. The survey forms will be shared on Discord. In addition to that, every now and then we’ll be asking you more direct questions on the #testing chat.



Our main focus for the public beta and especially its first weeks is testing the online network. That’s why we would like to come and play online with you. This week, Thursday July 12th, join us for a match or two and just to chat about stuff. We’ll be playing starting 5pm EEST/ 10am EDT. See you there!
