Five brand-new American Yoh tanks are making their Tech Tree debut in World of Tanks, Commanders!
Several months ago, we announced a new line of American heavy tanks featuring the reserve track mechanic. This line generated a lot of interest, especially with regard to the tanks' unusual appearance and gameplay. The M-IV-Y, the Premium representative of the new branch, was also made available in the Holiday Ops 2022 event.
With this unique new mechanic, it took a long time to refine the Yoh vehicles and balance their characteristics. Now, we’re ready to add this entire American heavy tank branch to the game on January 26, 2022. But before we take a closer look at the lineup, let’s start off with a brief historical background.
[previewyoutube="LLrTETcFjsI;full"]
Yoh Tanks: An Outstanding Unreleased Project
In the 1950s, the American H.L. Yoh Company, named after its founder, American industrialist Harold L. Yoh, started developing tank concepts with unusual configurations. They inherited some of the classic features of the American tank building school, but each concept had rather non-standard shapes. One of the main features of these brand-new vehicles was a reserve track that could be used if the main one was destroyed.
We found these ideas very interesting, so we decided to accurately recreate these outstanding machines in our game. Although the Yoh tanks have never historically been embodied in metal, you can now experience the heat of battle in them, albeit virtually!

The parameters displayed are valid for the vehicle with each crew member trained to 100% major qualification level. Some vehicle characteristics can be further improved with the Commander's bonus to major qualification level, crew perks, and skills, as well as special in-game items.

The Pawlack Tank
Researching the new Yoh sub-branch will follow on from the T1 Heavy Tank with the Pawlack Tank.
This is a transitional Tier VI vehicle that plays differently from other mid-tier American heavy tanks (such as the T1 Heavy Tank or the M6). On the other hand, the Pawlack Tank is also not quite like medium tanks and is more akin to the classic vehicles of a higher tier of American tank building. It’s kind of a mix between a heavy and a medium tank, with good dynamics and great gun handling.
[expand type="details"] [/expand] The Pawlack Tank is smaller than other mid-tier American vehicles but is better armored and has more impressive firepower. In close-range battles, it will feel confident enough, and will also be able to support allies in flanking attacks. It may be a little difficult to get used to its gameplay after the T1 Heavy Tank, but if you spend some time taming this unusual predator, it will be much easier for you to adapt to the rest of the Yoh tanks.
The M-II-Y
The M-II-Y is the first vehicle in the branch featuring the new reserve track mechanic (more about this later). Like its predecessors, this is a hybrid of heavy and medium tanks with good mobility and excellent armor. You should also remember that it has a rather big commander's cupola, which is the weak spot of this tank.
[expand type="details"] [/expand] The M-II-Y is equipped with a gun with average characteristics but features good armor penetration values. Plus, starting at this tier, all Yoh tanks receive excellent gun depression and elevation angles. This is one of their key features, which shapes the gameplay of the entire branch.
The M-III-Y
All the main advantages of its predecessors continue to improve. The M-III-Y features an even stronger turret and hull armor, so it’s enough to withstand direct hits from vehicles of the same tier or lower. The commander's cupola is noticeably smaller, and –10 degrees of gun depression will be very useful when taking advantage of the terrain. Its mobility is also high, so you can easily change flanks and directions.
[expand type="details"] [/expand] In addition, the M-III-Y has another cool feature: two guns to choose from. If you prefer to support your allies from a distance, then mount the 90 mm gun—accurate, fast-firing, and with good penetration values. If you are more into frontline battles, then you should choose the 105 mm gun. It is slightly less accurate and has a lower rate of fire, but it features higher alpha damage.
The M-VI-Y
This tank inherited its general gameplay concept from its combat brothers but acquired an extraordinary appearance. The M-VI-Y features a well-armored oscillating and elongated turret that can easily ricochet enemy shells. Gun depression and elevation angles are also great, and the solid hull armoring allows it to brawl decently at the front line.
[expand type="details"] [/expand] The M-VI-Y is also armed with two top guns to choose from, only in higher calibers. The 105 mm gun has good accuracy and DPM, while the 120 mm gun is less accurate but features higher alpha damage. It’s almost a top-tier vehicle, but the real ace from the Yoh deck is awaiting you at Tier X!
The M-V-Y
Besides all the above-mentioned gameplay features and the reserve track mechanics, this crowning vehicle of the entire branch has more to offer than just its unique appearance. Its narrow, elongated turret is designed to deflect shells like ping-pong balls. It will be very hard to hit such a narrow turret, even from medium range. The commander's cupola is small, so if you perform your best when brawling and raise the gun up after firing a shot, it will be difficult for your opponents to aim and even harder for them to hit it.
[expand type="details"] [/expand]
The parameters displayed are valid for the vehicle with each crew member trained to 100% major qualification level. Some vehicle characteristics can be further improved with the Commander's bonus to major qualification level, crew perks, and skills, as well as special in-game items.
[expand type="details"] [/expand] The M-V-Y also has two guns in its arsenal to choose from. The fast-firing 105 mm gun with high elevation and depression angles has good accuracy and is perfect for taking advantage of terrain irregularities. Standard rounds are APCR with excellent penetration and velocity so they can easily hit even fast opponents.
The 120 mm gun features higher alpha damage and acceptable accuracy. It fires AP shells with high velocity as standard rounds. This gun is the choice of those who want to fire effectively at both close and medium ranges.
The Reserve Track Mechanic: Movement Is Survival!
Starting from Tier VII, the main feature of Yoh tanks is the unique reserve track mechanic, which works as follows:
When the main track is knocked down, the tank will continue to move, thanks to the reserve track—but its speed will be reduced. If you lose another track, its speed will be reduced further. But the tank will still be able to turn and move forward and backward.
EXAMPLE
The M-V-Y travels at a maximum speed of 40 km/h. If you hit the front roller and knock down the main track, the tank will slow down by 40%. If both main tracks are hit, its speed will drop by 65% of its maximum speed, but it can still move forward/backward or turn the hull to block damage.
To immobilize the vehicle completely, you need to destroy at least one reserve track in addition to the main one. In this case, the tank will come to a stop and wait for repair.
Repairing the tracks also has nuances. The reserve track is repaired first, and its repair takes about 25% less time than the main one. For example, the main tracks repair in 6.9 seconds, the reserve one in 5.3 seconds (assuming the Repair skill is trained to 100%). When the reserve track is repaired, you can already start moving.
As soon as the reserve track is repaired, the repair of the main track begins. But if your speed is more than 5 km/h, the main track will take longer to repair.
You always need to consider whether you have time to fully restore the mobility of the vehicle. For example, if there is cover nearby, try to get to it to repair the rest without the risk of taking more damage. If you are in an open area, it is better to use a Large or Small Repair Kit that will repair all tracks at once.
Gameplay Tips
To make it easier for you to master these American heavies with a new mechanic, we've prepared some useful tips that will allow you to play more effectively.
There are several ways to completely immobilize a Yoh tank:
If an HE shell hits a tank or lands nearby, small pieces of spall can damage both tracks at once.
You can also immobilize the Yoh tank with one precise shot. Shooting at the sprocket is effective from the side of the tank, while shooting at the idler is effective from the front (if you want to damage both tracks). In both cases, the shell must be powerful enough to damage two tracks at once (e.g., a high damage/caliber shell).
A reserve track is not a reason to discard the Repair Kit from your loadout. If a critical situation develops in battle, then it is better to use consumables.
Try installing Improved Hardening on the Yoh tank. It increases the durability of both the main and reserve tracks, which makes it much more difficult to knock them down with a single shot.
American Yoh tanks are unique and very practical at the same time. They have the classic gameplay of heavy tanks with armored turrets, excellent gun depression and elevation angles, and good mobility for heavies. But they also feature a unique mechanic, so they allow you to look at the classic heavy tank gameplay from a different perspective.
Roll out now in the Yoh tanks—we’re sure that they will bring you plenty of enjoyable moments on the battlefield!

You can spend Steam Points in the following ways:

Changes to the Referral Program in Season 9
Greetings, Commanders!
Season 8 of the Referral Program is drawing to a close, so hurry up and take advantage of your free slots for Recruits if you haven’t used them yet!
Season 8 of the Referral Program ends on January 26, 2022 and starting with Season 9, which launches on the same day, new pools of Premium vehicles will be available for Commanders and their Recruits. We also reworked the Recruit progression in the Referral Campaign, rebalanced solo mission #2, and improved several interfaces. We’re making these changes to make it harder to abuse the system while still keeping it interesting for legitimate Recruits and Commanders. Let’s dig into the details!
Reward Pool for Commanders and Recruits
Starting with Season 9, there will be a fixed roster of five Premium tanks for Commanders and five for Recruits. You can redeem any vehicle of your choice from those available. These vehicle pools below will remain unchanged for future Seasons of the Referral Program.
As always, you can choose to be compensated for the value of the tanks in credits instead.
Recruit Progression Rework
We also reworked the Recruit progression system. To earn Referral Points and complete the Referral Campaign, Recruits need to play in vehicles of certain tiers at each stage. The further you progress in the Campaign, the higher the required vehicle tier.
You can check which vehicle tiers can be used to complete each stage on the Recruit and Commander progression screens.
At the end of Season 8, all your open Referral Contracts will be automatically transferred to Season 9, and your progress will be saved.
Changes to Combat Bonuses
Regardless of whether the Recruit plays alone or in a Platoon with their Commander, the Recruit will receive a bonus to credits and XP at the end of the battle only if they play in a vehicle of a tier that matches the current referral stage. The bonuses the Recruit will receive are as follows:
When playing alone, there is a bonus of +50% to Combat XP and credits. When playing in a Platoon with your Commander, the Recruit will receive 100% more Combat XP and credits. The Commander will get the bonus when playing in a Platoon (+50% to Combat XP and credits) only if at least one of their Recruits in this Platoon receives their bonus.
Together with the Recruit progression rework, these changes will deter those who seek to abuse the Referral Program, while also rewarding responsible Commanders.
Mission Rebalancing and Interface Improvements
We also rebalanced the conditions of solo mission #2:
OLD CONDITIONS The total damage caused by the player and damage caused with the player's help must be higher than the number of hit points of their vehicle.
NEW CONDITIONS The total damage caused by the player and damage caused with the player's help must be higher than the number of hit points of their vehicle when playing in a heavy tank, medium tank, light tank, or tank destroyer, and it must be 3 times the number when playing in an SPG.
The reward for completing this mission remains the same.
We also improved several interfaces to make them more informative. For example, you can now check your progress in the Referral Campaign and find out how many Referral Points from the daily limit you can still earn.
Using Rental Vehicles
From Season 9 onwards, Recruits won’t be able to earn Referral Points or receive all the bonuses the Referral Program offers when playing in rental vehicles.
Head into battle with your Recruits and earn Premium vehicles and other rewards, Commanders!
[COMPLETED] Under the Hammer!
Place your bids, Commanders!
From January 14–19, you will have a chance to receive very rare vehicles for gold or Free Experience. For this, you’ll need to make a bid at a special auction and win.
Over a period of five days, the auction will sell several exclusive vehicles—and they can all be yours!
Under the Hammer!
January 14 at 10:00 CET (UTC+1) – January 19 at 10:00 CET (UTC+1)
[expand type="details"]
How It Works
1. From January 14 through January 19, visit the new Under the Hammer! section in the in-game Store, or take a look at the pop-up in the lower-right corner in the Garage.
2. Every day at 10:00 CET, a new lot will be displayed there. You will see how many items are available, as well as the lot's starting price in gold or Free Experience. Remember: If the cost is specified in gold, Free Experience is not accepted, and vice versa.
3. Make a bid that you are ready to pay. This amount will be deducted from your account.
4. Only one lot will be available for Free Experience during the auction. If an item is sold for Free Experience, you will see a competitive bid when the number of bids on it exceeds the number of items. What is it? As many highest bids are accepted as there are available items: the one in the middle of this list is the competitive one. If you make a competitive bid (or even outbid it), you can count on winning the auction.
The competitive bid is dynamic and is updated every 10 minutes. The last update is 10 minutes before the end of the auction. Along with the competitive bid, you will also see the total number of participants applying for the vehicle.
5. Bids are accepted until 06:00 CET of the next day after the announcement of the lot. Until that time, you can change your bid as many times as you like—you can even cancel it. If you cancel a bid, the gold/XP will be returned to your account. Bids will be returned and lots will be credited to the auction winners within four hours after the end of accepting bids.
6. The number of winning bids is determined by the number of available items. If the number of highest bids exceeds the number of remaining vehicles, the earliest bids will be given priority among others of the same value.
EXAMPLE If the auction participants made 1,000 identical winning bids and only 300 vehicles are available, the earliest 300 bids will win.
7. The winners receive their goods. The rest of the auction participants receive their bids back in full.
8. Vehicles won in the auction are non-refundable.[/expand]
Place your bids and get rare vehicles, Commanders!

Large Boxes: Last Chance to Get Brand-New Vehicles and Other Goodies
At the end of the main event on January 10 at 07:00 CET (UTC+1), the festive Garage will be disabled, so you will no longer be able to purchase Large Boxes. If you want to get formidable vehicles (including three brand-new Tier VIII heavy tanks), amazing 3D styles, and other valuable items, now is your last chance to grab Large Boxes!
Event Extension: General Rules
The Event Extension will last from January 10 at 07:00 CET through January 24 at 07:00 CET (UTC+1).
Once the Event Extension begins, you won’t be able to apply unused credit discounts on researchable vehicles. Be sure to use them before January 10 at 07:00 CET (UTC+1).
Any unopened Large Boxes will be opened automatically at the end of the event, even if you don’t log in during the Event Extension. All the items they contain will be stored on your account.
Any Large Boxes that you sent as gifts but were not opened by their recipients will be returned to your account and opened automatically.
To accept or reject Large Boxes that have been sent to you as gifts, please log in to your account in the Premium Shop or check your email.
If you don’t open Small or Large Boxes before the end of Holiday Ops 2022 (Monday, January 10 at 07:00 CET (UTC+1)), the first time you log in to the game client after this date, you will be credited with in-game items from the boxes and those decorations out of Large Boxes that are still missing in your Collections. These decorations will be credited to their respective Collections. If any of the Collections are fully completed by decorations obtained from these Large Boxes, you will receive the respective rewards.

Join the Race for the 114 SP2!
Let’s start off with the most tantalizing topic: the ultimate reward for all three Seasons of Ranked Battles 2021–2022!
This Season is your last chance to join the race for the 114 SP2, a new Tier X Chinese tank destroyer. It is equipped with a fully rotating turret mounted to the center of the hull, just like classic tanks. The 114 SP2 also features excellent dynamics and a sharp-shooting 152 mm gun with good depression/elevation angles (–7°/+20°). High accuracy and a short aiming time allow you to effectively hit opponents from a long distance. Watch this how-to-play video on how to make the most of the 114 SP2’s strengths.
[previewyoutube="Tr5tbXUs0VE;full"] If you didn’t participate in Season 1, now is the perfect time to join intense Tier X battles. Climb up the rank ladder and earn all five Rank Tokens available in Season 2 to receive a better Annual Reward (featuring this steel predator)!
[expand type="details"] [/expand]
The parameters displayed are valid for the vehicle with each crew member trained to 100% major qualification level. Some vehicle characteristics can be further improved with the commander's bonus to major qualification level, crew perks and skills, as well as special in-game items.

Ranked Battles: What’s New?
Now back to Season changes. Firstly, we’ve redistributed the rewards (directives and credits) you will earn in the Qualification. Now you will progressively receive more prizes as you play more battles!
Secondly, we added a special default filter to the mode’s vehicle carousel. Use it to quickly find all Tier X tanks eligible for fighting in Ranked Battles:
The Brand-New Garmr 3D Style for the Kampfpanzer 50 t
Last but not least, we’ve also updated the list of exclusive Ranked Battles items available for bonds and added the brand-new Garmr 3D style for the Kampfpanzer 50 t. You’ll be able to redeem this amazing custom look when you reach the Second Division. This style looks as if it is composed of many granite shards, from under which bright flames shine through. It turns the Kampfpanzer 50 t into an even more formidable vehicle, as if rolled out of the mouth of a fire-breathing volcano.
[expand type="details"] [/expand] Together with other unique items, this incredible 3D style will be available for 5,000 bonds. Remember: You can get them with your personal cumulative discount, and its amount will depend on your progress during the Season.

Items for Bonds
We’ve also updated the list of items available for bonds in the in-game Store. Don't miss your chance to get your hands on the great vehicles and cool 2D styles below!
This Season, the core Ranked Battles mechanics remain unchanged, but let’s go over them again, just in case.
Battles take place in the 10v10 format in Tier X vehicles.
No more than one SPG and two light tanks per team will be allowed in battles.
To ascend in rank in order to qualify for Leagues, you need to earn the following amount of chevrons:
EU: 94 chevrons
CIS: 94 chevrons
NA: 70 chevrons
APAC: 70 chevrons
Since Battle Pass is not currently available, you won’t be able to earn Battle Pass Progression Points when fighting in Ranked Battles.
As soon as you qualify for a League, you’ll be able to complete special daily missions. There will be three missions in total, and each one can be completed in vehicles of four different roles. This means that missions for 12 different vehicle roles will be available. These missions will reward you with bonds and Daily Bonus Battles.
[expand type="details"] [/expand]
Tons of Rewards Await!
As always, you have a chance to get your hands on tons of valuable rewards for good performance in battle. Storm onto the battlefield and push for victory in your favorite Tier X vehicles to earn the following:
Bonds
Days of WoT Premium Account
Spectacular 2D styles
Gold

Take One Step Closer to Your Annual Reward!
At the end of your challenging journey in Ranked Battles, you'll be able to redeem your Annual Reward. It will depend on the number of Rank Tokens you earn over all three Seasons.
