Bonus episode, Ghosts of the Past, has been added to the game! (+bugfixes etc.)
Hey y'all! First of all, a big thanks to everybody who's played the game so far. I really appreciate it. Second of all, I've decided to add a large content update to the game. It adds a new bonus episode with 6 new bosses, and is called Ghosts of the Past.
I wanted to try to make sure this patch would be close enough to a state I'd be comfortable leaving the game in should I not be able to update the game again, so I tried to fix most of the biggest bugs and issues and also add a bit more content to the game. The new episode doesn't really wrap up the story or even add much to it, but rather gives me a chance to just... give people more stuff to play through.
I hope you enjoy.
Here's what's been fixed:
UI no longer glitchy when moving mouse fast
You can (hopefully) no longer die while a boss is dying
Xenocapsule should no longer be as RNG-heavy
Here's what's been added:
Keyboard controls can now be remapped
Controller controls now stay remapped when you exit
Grim Freezer has a new intro animation
New bonus episode, Ghosts of the Past, has been added, featuring 6 new challenging bosses for you to face off against!
Before people ask about the hitboxes... sadly, no, I can't really fix those that easily. There are some projectiles that go along the ground and I don't have an easy way to make those hitboxes taller to accommodate for making the player's hitbox shorter. I'll try to keep that in mind more carefully for future projects, for what it may be worth, but I'm not sure there's really a good solution for fixing that for this project, much as I wish I could fix that. Sorry...
New version released
Hey everyone! This update took a little while but we really wanted to make sure it'd be pretty stable. So, without further delay, here's the latest patch for the game:
We've released a new update for the game which fixes some bugs and makes a few tweaks:
BUG FIXES: -Episode 2 final boss no longer goes out of bounds -Password entry now possible while playing with a controller (though it still requires a keyboard) -Matryo-something Golem no longer behaves even close to as buggy upon dying -Delta's quiz show said you could press jump when using keyboard controls when it specifically meant space-bar -Restarting the custom gauntlet with a controller used weird, unintentional button mapping -OP Box mode no longer causes a music bug if you exit the character select screen
CHANGES: -You can now exit full-screen during gameplay using the F11 key, note that this only works during gameplay and not on menus or during cutscenes etc. -You can now change volume under settings -Chance Legion now conveys itself a bit better
Enjoy!
New patch released
Okay, time for another update! This time I've gone through a fair bit of feedback people have sent me in various ways and fixed a large variety of issues. There's still a few things I would like to be able to change in the near future, but for now, I hope the new updates make the game a bit better!
Tweaks: -Last boss of episode 2 made easier by making a few hitboxes smaller and making homing attacks track the player slightly less quickly -Nerfed damage output of Scorchsear and Security Overdrive -Option to select non-HD cutscenes. (Useful if the HD cutscene engine doesn't work properly on your computer... some day I may implement a more proper fix for that, but in the mean time this will do) -Dialed back one attack of the last boss of episode 3 -Moved a few enemies near the end of Scorchsear's stage to a different part of the stage to prevent them from immediately attacking you upon respawning at the checkpoint -Xenotank in Episode 3 now has a bit less health -First boss of episode 3 had one attack tweaked a bit -(Episode 2 spoilers) slowed down text during the quiz show as Zeta
Bug-fixes: -Fixed a bug where the password screen song would keep playing if the password entered led to the stage select segment in episode 2 -Fixed (episode 3 spoilers) "choose path!" showing up before the final boss despite there only being one path
Well, that's all for now I think! Hopefully I'll see you again in the future to fix a few more problems I know the game has that could use some work... they're gonna require a few major code changes though, so I wanted to get these ones out of the way first.
Small bugfix patch released
Hi, lead dev and programmer of Xenogunner here. We just released a small bugfix patch. It only fixes one bug for now, the one that I felt most important to fix out of the ones people have reported so far. I plan to work on a larger patch in the coming days based on any issues that people find, but for now, this should fix an important one at least.
PATCH NOTES:
Fixed a bug where two songs would play at once during the the last boss of episode 1 in Delta's story. (...this is what I get for forgetting to playtest both stories after making a last-second change in which songs play where...)
